This is the genuine product so I recommend it if you haven't ground down your auger housing. Inspect your bar and height adjustment regularly to prevent housing damage and iIf possible I would recommend mounting the bar on the bottom of the housing. I purchased my Compact 24 lightly used, mid-winter in a bind, and when I tried it out it worked very well so I failed to inspect and adjust it. My skid shoes were getting worn thin but not through so I had not inspected it or made any adjustments. Because the shoes were thin and the scraper bar was pretty worn I inspected it. I was planning on replacing the bar and flipping the skid shoes. I had to carefully use a grinder to remove the bolts because the heads were worn down. After removing the bar, I noticed the housing was worn very badly and into the mounting holes because the scraper bar is mounted on the top of the housing instead of beneath it, allowing the housing to wear down without me noticing. Now I know I need to inspect it regularly but if the bar was mounted on the bottom of the housing it would have saved wearing it out. I am glad the season was over and now I will try trimming the housing square and weld on a thick piece of flat bar and then a scraper bar to the bottom. If that all works, I will add roller bearings to my skid shoes and if it doesn't work I will buy a new housing. ... show more

    • Hole location is off.
The center 3 holes are perfect but the 2 outer holes are off maybe 1/4" for my snowblower. I was able to elongate the holes to make it work but I shouldn't of had to. Description is wrong on the models it fits. Somewhere along the line Ariens changed this and have not updated the description of this. ... show more

Only thing I had to do differently was drill the holes bigger on my snow blower and install new bolts works great otherwise!
