This little beast works great. If you're a hobbyist or want to learn to stick weld, you can't do better. I got this on sale for $99 (reg $120) and couldn't be happier. Plug into any outlet (make sure you've got the right amp breaker) and start working immediately. I'm a terrible welder but I've managed to stick dozens of things together in only a couple weeks with this little dynamo. Most of my welding is personal and for friends so I mostly used 6013 1/8 rod and 120 or lower amps. I didn't have a proper welding table so I made one from rebar using this little box and it works really well (first picture) and I've used it to make a few decorative swords and axes for friends for Christmas presents (second picture). I've been using it in my small workshop (shed) and fumes haven't been an issue as long as I keep the doors open and a small fan moving the air. Spatter has been a minor concern due to wood construction of my shed but nothing has burned so far. Definitely keep a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water nearby just in case. ... show more

    • Surprisingly good little welder
Exceeded my expectations! I am a professional welder by trade and being accustomed to using large name brand welding apparatus I wasn't expecting much out of a $110 never heard of em before welder. This little box runs great! Easy to set up, easy to strike up an arc, welds smooth and consistent. I ran 3/32- 6013 rod at 65 amps, on 1/8 sq tube. 110v plug in my garage with 15amp breaker... And she cooked no problem. I am going to use it as a carry along field welder for small repair jobs but I would totally recommend this for a beginner or as an addition to any welders garage. ... show more

Very portable and flexible. Operates on 115V or 230V. It was purchased for someone else, and I haven't heard anything from them so I guess it's OK.

    • Had high hopes.... I should have known better.
I had high hopes for this welder. But I should've known from bitter experience than to have hope for anything. Bought this welder and after about 2 months, naturally after the return window closed, it stopped working. It just shut off after trying to strike an arc and wouldnt turn back on. I looked on the product page here on Amazon for warranty information, which directed me to look on the company's website. So I did that and was encouraged to see that Stahlwerk offers 5-7 year warranties on its products! So I contacted the company and...... No response. I thoroughly read the warranty fine print on the website and even if they did respond and said that they would gladly fix it for me, I would have to pay to ship it to Germany and then pay to ship it back. I dont want to send the welder on a dream vacation around the world and back just to fix an issue that I shouldnt be having in the first place. When your talking about a welder that was only $90, itd likely be close to that cost for shipping to there and back. Not to mention I'd likely need to also buy a couple calendars to measure the time itd take to get it back. So, to summarize..... I am not amused. ... show more

The good: Great performance on 110V 20A. Runs 3/32 great.(6011,6013,7018) Very compact & light. The bad. No anti-stick. Hard to read display in daylight. Sticks rods fairly frequently. Doesn't run 1/8 (3.2mm) rods reliably on 110. Not a genuine Stahlwerk but a fake. No WT-2040 in their lineup. For 3/32 this machine will work well & reliably but will stick rods quite easily. I returned it for something else. ... show more

La maquina tiene un excelente rendimiento, tanto para principiante como para trabajos profesionales ya de espertos. Se realizo la montura de una estructura y quemo mas de 1 kg de electrodos casi continua, no se recalento y quema bien los electrodos en 110V y 220V. La recomiendo para principiantes.

I got this little tiny thing,because I had a job in a really tight place.Done very good for what I used it for.Got to turn the setting all the way up to burn a 7018 1/8 plunged to 110 volts and about to setting of 130 for a 3/32 7018.on 230 volts its a very different story in temperature setting.the picture shows 4 stringer beeds run on a peace of 3/8 plate steel with a 1/8 7018 on 110 volts ... show more
