I've had this heater for 7 months now. It is hard to find a heater for small tank, but this is just perfect. It heats up nice and would stop when it reach the desired temp. I set this to 80. Its easy to adjust, for the first time of use. I also like the fact that I can see on what temp it is and the light coming from the LED screen is not too bright. It also has a goog grip to it, it has never fallen ever since I put it in the tank. My betta loves to snuggle beside it for warmth and so far he has never been burned or get stuck. Initially because I had a small tank I bought one of the flat heaters without temperature control and it nearly boiled my fish. After reading reviews I chose this one. Because of other household considerations I have to keep it a bit colder and where the tank is it's in direct airflow. Thankfully the operation of the unit is simple and it has kept the water temperature pretty consistent despite the environment. Even in a small tank it's unobtrusive. I have a round tank so the unit fit as well as being closer to the plastic it didn't heat up the tank wall from what I could determine from the outside. I bought the 10W version for a 1.6 gal tank. I like its size. But there are a couple of issues. The temperature reading is not stable at all. The displayed temperature continually varies between 1/2 to 1 degree, switching the displayed temp by a tenth of a degree every 2 to 4 seconds. For example, over the course of 20 seconds it drops from 76.2 down to 74.5, then over the next 20 seconds climbs back up again. The actual tank temperature cannot be changing that much that fast. The heater was off for that range (I had it set for 72), but while it is on, the readings also vary about the same amount. Because of the variation, you cannot rely on a quick glance at the heater display to tell you the tank temp, o you are going to need a second tank thermometer. Since the heater turns on when the temp drops to .3 degrees below the set temp, you need to base your setting on the lowest temp, so you'll need to pay attention for a minute or two before you know what that is for a given tank temperature. With a separate tank thermometer, you can make this work by noting the difference between the heater's lowest read temp and the tank thermometer's reading and subtracting that amount from the desired tank temp for its setting. Also, the heater turns off when the sensed temp rises above .3 degrees below the set temp. For example, if the set temp is 72 deg, the heater turns on at 71.7 and off at 71.8. The instruction manual states that it is supposed to turn off when the temp rises above the set temp (which would be at 72.1 if it was set for 72.) Given the sensor variability from the actual tank temp, as the tank temp first drops below the set temp - .3 deg threshold, the heater turns on, but will then turn off right away as the sensed temp climbs above the threshold. The heater would not be turned on continuously until the tank temp actually drops 1 degree below the set temp (so that the reading variation would not be enough to turn it on again). I can't think of a reason why the temperature readings should vary this way, perhaps my unit is defective? ... show more

So far so good. I’m not sure if the temp there of the water is that accurate … I use it bc it does give off some warmth but doesn’t feel like the 81 degrees it’s trying to say it is. The tank isn’t big at all either. But I know it’s not as cold as it was without it. My fish likes to sleep by it as well so maybe he’s fine with it haha ... show more

This worked great for my Betta’s small tank until I could transfer him to his bigger tank. I liked the digital temperature display so there was no guessing games. I also like that the temp is adjustable. It kept my fish’s tank at the perfect temperature for him.

I got this for my 1.5 gallon beta tank ( I am gonna size his tank up very soon ) it works wonderfully, I got the usb version in case we have another bad freeze so I can keep him warm with my laptop or something similar. He clearly loves it as she sleeps close to it all the time. It works better with an adapter connected to a wall outlet rather than a usb port but it will work in a pinch. Really great mini heater, I’ll be buying a larger version when his larger tank arrives. ... show more

Not only is this heating the fish tank but it’s very small and the suction cup works great. Best of all my fish seems to really be enjoying it by laying across the top of it or wrapping its body around it. Unfortunately, I only had it for one month to the day and it broke when I laid it down while I was cleaning the tank. I thought I was being very careful so I’m not even sure how it happened, regardless I ordered a new one concerned that my fish might not survive. Paid express shipping to have it delivered between 7am and 11am (waited at home so that I could set it up before I had to leave) it was not delivered till late afternoon. ... show more
