I thought I might need to buy more simply because of the time; but at 6,000 gallons per pair, we’re good for another year, as we average 3-4 gallons of water per day at our house. This is my first purchase of these filters. They seem to be doing a good job. The price was good and they mounted in the upper chamber as they should have. I have no idea how long they last before needing to be changed out; time will tell. The water quality seems to be good.

Style: Upgraded Water Filter System
This is a cool looking little water filter. The water tastes “earthy”, kind of like charcoal, definitely not the taste of spring water or an osmosis system. It is easy to use and easy to set up once you figure out which filters go where. It would be better for camping rather than everyday household use.

I've been using this filter since February 2024 and I'm really happy with it. The water tastes clean and fresh, way better than straight from the tap. I live in a big city where the water is already treated (no harmful microorganisms), and this filter is perfect for improving the taste and cutting out chemicals like chlorine. Filtration speed is great, and it easily keeps up with my daily use (2 person). I also love the solid stainless steel build, no leaks at all, and it feels sturdy and well-made. If you're using treated water and want to make it taste better while removing contaminants, I definitely recommend this one!

I have used the Brekey Gravity Water Filter system for over 15 years, always used their products, the black filter and the White Fluoride Filter. This set from Aquacrest do not work. The water runs straight through both filters in a matter of a few mins. It was shocking! Not only that I notice when priming the white filters they ran horrible black water out of them each time I ran water through them to prime them. Berkey White do not do this, they run a white milky looking water~! Not only the black water came out but when you shook these white filters sounded like they were full of nothing but loose particles like tiny rocks. Most be filled with tiny bits of charcoal. They just do not filter the water. The water had a horrible metallic taste to it after filtering the system about 20 times which is about 40 gallons of water, the water always tasted metallic.

I bought these and made my own filtration system with things I already had in the house so all I had to buy were the filters. That worked out well because I live on a small fixed income. It was very easy to do and these filters do their job beautifully. They do pass the red food coloring test and my water tastes so very much better. It does not take an eternity for the water to filter through either. My old 18 year old cat was throwing up several times a day and my water felt like it was actually burning the back of my throat . Since I have been using these filters my cat has stopped throwing up and I actually enjoy drinking water again. When I can afford it I really want the ceramic attachments for arsenic, fluoride, and so forth......... It has been around a month since my review and I have a question. It has also been about a month since I tore this system apart and cleaned it. The water in the top never drains all the way. However, I only add water as I use it so it never gets a chance to just set in there except for the bit at the top. I went to add a little water to the system before bed and was hit with the smell of mildew. When I reached inside the top container the walls of the bucket are slimy. The water coming out does not have an odor but slimy water on top means bacteria and as far as I know mildewed filters is not a good thing is it ??? Please help if you know anything about this because I can not seem to find anyone from AquaCrest to ask.

We've had our Berkey for 8 years but stopped using it about 3 years ago because the filter costs were so high and that they were not NSF rated. I was pleasantly surprised to find Aqua Crest to have NSF certified replacements at a lower price. I set the Berkey back up and have been using it for a few weeks and its works great. Tastes good and even tested the water (just with those strip kits, not a professional service) and the results were great. I was using the aqua crest filers for my PUR filter and now use this. Update 4 months later - filter is still going. Great doesn’t come apart like other reviewers have mentioned, working perfectly. But I also discover is that the black cartridges don’t require as much cleaning as the original Berkey filters do. My original Berkey filters will get clogged up pretty fast within a couple weeks. Why I’d have to take them out and scrub them very often.
