Update: Now I figured out why my sensors dropped connection. My original review is at the end for reference. Takeaway: if you don't plan to pair it with aqara gateway, use it with precaution. If you want to know the detail, keep reading. I have two of them used with GoConnect Zigbee/Z-wave USB stick and home assistant. They worked well for 3 months. When I tried to move them to new locations for my new smart home plan, both of them refused to connect to my hub. At the beginning I thought they were broken because I dropped them. Then I disassembled them and found nothing wrong. I follow discussions on web to figure out why. Cause: I have a sylvania zigbee smart bulb. It can work as a zigbee repeater. However, some aqara battery powered sensors are known to be not strictly zigbee standard compliant. If a non zigbee compliant aqara sensor meet a standard zigbee repeater, sometime it tries to connect to hub via the repeater and drops out of network eternally. It seems that my aqara thermometer can use my sylvania light bulb as repeater while my aqara motion sensors simply dropped out network. There are some aqara compatible light bulbs, of them the most well known brand is IKEA. IKEA has officially worked with aqara. Solution: Ideally you should remove either your aqara devices or your aqara incompatable smart bulbs. This can be a pain. Luckily aqara thermometer can work with most zigbee repeaters because of its short report interval. Because there is no alternative for aqara thermometer. For motion detector, Samsung SmartThings motion detector can work with nearly every zigbee compatible devices (if you don't count the chaos between ZLL, ZHA 2.0 and ZHA 3.0). Now I turned to Samsung. Otherwise, you should make sure that your aqara incompatible devices are really far away from your aqara battery powered sensors so that your aqara sensors never try to connect to those repeaters. After you have removed incompatible devices, you can reset your aqara motion sensor and pair them again. This can take a long time. Press the reset button for 3 seconds until it blink three times, then keep it awaken by press reset button every 2 seconds until the pairing is done. original review ----------------------- I had two of them. They worked well until today. My only complaint was that the cool down time is very long, but not a big deal for me. Today when I moved a motion sensor to a new location and it fell to the ground. Suddenly it stopped working. I tried everything to connect it to my hub but got nothing. Well, I thought I might have a bad luck. That happens. So I moved another aqara motion sensor to the new location, splash! It fell too! This time just 3 feet high! I can't have such bad luck, can't I? It turned out... This one broke too! They had perfect motion detection, just they would never connect! Sad story. Take away: if you want a cheap zigbee motion sensor, it is a decent one. Just, never never drop it.

It is working as expected and very well with HomeKit via HomeBridge. Can't really say on battery life as I've been running this for only 3 weeks now and as far as I can tell, there is no way to see how much battery life is left.

I have 2, and the first one works pretty much as expected. The range is not as good as I'd hoped, but it's manageable. Battery life seems reasonable. I haven't had it long enough to properly review that. However, the second one is not usable. It acts like it is alive and I was able to get it added to my network, but it doesn't report motion/occupancy once it goes back into its normal low-power mode. If all of them worked this would be a great value - with only 50% of units functional the value isn't holding up.

Purchased with a simple need: turn a light switch on when motion detected and then turn it off after a specified time. The If/Then command to turn on was almost straight forward but it was far from clear that a second if/then could be added on same group of accessories. Additionally, once I figured out I could stack it didn't take the first time--I deleted al and re-entered and it functioned correctly but boy could some If/Then documentation or guidance prove helpful. Additionally the shortest period for no motion detect to issue a command is 1 minute--I had thought the updated P1 with adjustable interval detection might offer the same level of adjustment on non-detection but 1 min is the lowest setting. Otherwise pretty functional.

Using this with Home Assistant (not Alexa). It works fairly well, however it is slow to reset after triggering and be prepared to replace the battery shortly after you get it. They seem to ship with a battery that is close to worn out. Decent for the price, however if you can afford the Phillips Hue sensors, but those instead.

I purchase this device for motion, activation of the stairs lights when I go to bed. I hated to turn them on and off since it’s one of our best lights in the foyer. This thing works perfect! I use home assistant for all my devices and I have a zigbee bridge attached to my machine. The Aqara hub isn’t even necessary as I can connect direct to my home assistant! Overall, it’s small and sturdy looking, it definitely does what it’s supposed to and I will be ordering more. A+ product!

I grabbed this to see how well it worked. I put it up in my bathroom and tied it into Homekit to control the Hue lights that I have in there. The sensor turns the lights on and off with motion, so as soon as I walk in, all the lights turn on automatically, then turns them off once motion is no longer detected. So far it's been 100% reliable, and I have even set up different behaviors based on the time of day, so at night it only turns the lights on to a minimum brightness so I am not night blind when I go back to bed. Installation is effortless, just stick it to the wall where you want motion detected. The sensor can actually work as a light sensor as well, so it could potentially be used to turn on lights based on ambient light conditions, but Homekit doesn't support that function at this point so I am not using it. These sensors do need an Aqara hub to work, but considering you can get them for under $30 it makes this sensor cheaper than most of the competition even with buying one. Considering all of the other sensors and products in the Aqara lineup and the Homekit compatibility of them, these things really are a steal.

These things are great with Home Assistant. They do not require an Aqara hub, they will connect through a Zigbee dongle.
