A few things about this product. • The engineering is excellent. The parts align very well and the design was clearly thought out well. At some points in the installation process I wondered if the design was maybe a bit too intricate for it’s own good. Once buttoned up though the pieces come together very nicely to produce a solid step solution. • The welds are outstanding, you can tell they are machine welds and the attention to detail is exceptional. • There are a lot of complaints about the quality of the instructions. In my view, if you’ve got any experience with after-market bolt-on equipment, these instructions are better than most. If they are difficult to understand then you should consider having them professionally installed for safety. I’m no genius but I do have experience installing this sort of thing on previous vehicles. The whole installation took me 1.5 hours, on my own, from box opening to clean up. • Pre-mounting assembly required. I found the amount of assembly required prior to actual install to be unnecessary. The multitude of T-Bolts and nuts that need to be assembled prior to actual installation is a waste of customer time. This could easily have been completed at the time of manufacture and would have consumed no more space in the packaging. • I saw many complaints of missing hardware in previous reviews. I did not have this experience and also noticed that they are adding a bag of “extra hardware” just in case. Good adjustment on the seller’s part. • The red plastic inserts that make the logo cutouts pop fall off within seconds of sticking them on. This does not matter to me but if the company is counting on this to advertise their product they should consider better quality adhesive. • There was a large scratch on one of my rails right out of the box. I chose the aluminum option so this will not result in rust but it is a detractor from the appearance of the product. Packaging process failure. One thing I noticed while shopping for this product was the inconsistency in appearance of customer submitted images. Some installations looked well centered while others looked like they were too far forward on the truck. When too far forward they appeared to have an unbalanced look that I really did not like. My assumption was that variations in body style of the trucks caused this. I was incorrect and this is why. When assembling the steps I noticed that there are Driver and Passenger side rails that are clearly marked with stickers. When I finished installing the steps I was disappointed to see that my install resulted in the rails being too far forward and looking unbalanced with the overall profile of the truck. After pondering for a bit I decided to investigate switching the driver side to passenger side, and vice versa. What I found was that this simple swap resulted in a well balanced installation that mounted exactly the same way but positioned the rails about 2.5 inches further back on the truck. Due to the rail design, the steps still lined up in the same spots along the length of the truck; the rail portion however, is all that changed relational position. My conclusion is that the Driver and Passenger side stickers were mistakenly placed on the wrong pieces causing the rails to be installed on the wrong sides and thus too far forward. Extending my conclusion further, this is why some customer images appear centered on their trucks while others appear mounted too far forward. If you have these installed and are displeased with the positioning, try swapping sides (not all the brackets, just the rails). See my before and after images. See how the first images (daytime) appear further forward while darker images (later in day) appear balanced on the truck profile. My overall conclusion is thus. The design and manufacture are very nice. The instructions are as good or better than most after-market, bolt-on, goodies. The packaging process clearly needs some attention as they have difficulty counting nuts and bolts, packaging without scratches, and placing left and right stickers on left and right pieces. I put these steps on my new 2020 Chevy Silverado with the crew cab. I think they look really good on my truck. The steps feel sturdy (both my neighbor and I stood up on them at the same time without issue) and makes it much easier for my kids to get in. Installation wasn't too difficult but time consuming by yourself due to the size of these. A neighbor noticed me after I got one side installed and came to help, 2nd side went up way faster, so ask a friend for help and save yourself a ton of time. The directions could also use some improvement, as they were low quality copies lacking in detail/pictures, basically good enough to say you included instructions. Now, for the reason I gave these running boards 3 stars. My package was missing three of the T shaped slot nuts. Usually for an item like this you would expect for the correct number of nuts to be included and bonus if they included an extra. Also, if you live in an area where it rains a lot, as I do, you'll notice how loud they are when driving over standing water on the freeway. Made me jump a little the first time I heard it. I thought I ran over something and was dragging it. The steps can also get a little slippery when went. I have slipped a couple times. Luckily the sides on the steps do stop you so I was able to do an almost graceful recovery each time. ... show more

    • I love them but hated assembly

So let me start out with the positive. They look great, very sturdy, came with extra screws/bolts and very well made. Now the negative. There is literally no reason the manufacturer could not have simply welded the bar, steps and brackets and sold this completely assembled. The instructions are ok not great but I’ve seen worse. Attaching the steps was a pain there are about 12 screws per step that you hand to install in a slot along the main bar then very very carefully set the step onto the upright bolts if you knock one out of place you have to stop and realign. I threatened to use superglue to hold them steady. Just would have been a few more welds and you could literally mount both rails with 12 bolts. All and all I’m pleased they look great and do not wiggle when I step up on them. FYI do not over tighten you will strip the bolts. ... show more

I decided to install this myself. The best thing is, this uses the built in welded nuts in the truck, so your not having to drill holes in your truck. I was able to install them in a couple of hours with the help of my kids. It will require you to be on your back a bit so if that's a problem, you may have to pay someone to install them. Overall, installed fine and makes getting in the new truck so much easier. I think someone complained about noise driving in rain, but I did not notice any difference or anything louder than normal. They do make the side of the truck look even beefier. I'm glad I got these instead of the factory ones [saved hundreds and the factory ones were on back order at this time, so they would have prevented the truck from being built had I waited]. ... show more

We really like them. Wish they were a darker black. I thought they would look a little different when I paid extra for the carbon steel. We had tyger star armor on a previous vehicle so I thought the color would be similar, that was my mistake. They are sturdy and the drop helps my mother in law with getting in. There was a pretty decent sized chunk of metal and paint missing. I contacted the sellers and they blamed it on the shipping company. It was clearly missing before being wrapped for shipping. The seller offered a return or $20 credit. After confirming the warranty would still be valid if I painted it with rust resistant black paint I took the $20. The boards were already installed and I didn’t want the hassle of trying to send them back. We will see how this works in the long run. ... show more
