  • Wireless CarPlay and a backup camera for my older car
This finally brought my older car up to date. Wireless CarPlay connects on its own within a few seconds of starting the car, and Android Auto worked just as well when my wife tried it with her phone. The 7" screen is bright and responds well to touch, and GPS navigation is easy to read at a glance, even in daylight. Voice control handles calls, texts, and music without my having to look away from the road. The 1080p backup camera is the best part: the picture is clear and makes parking a lot less stressful. Setup was simple. It mounts on the dash and runs off the power outlet, so no wiring through the car. It's a great value compared to replacing the whole head unit. ... show more

  • Works well for what I need!
I have a 2016 Audi Q5. I love my car, but no apple car play. So, since I don't like the voice on Waze, I have a holder in my a/c vent. But, I can't text without holding down a button on my phone, etc. You all know how apple car play works! So, I've had none of those features in my car. I decided to try this and was surprised by how inexpensive it was! I'm sure if I integrated it into where my screen is now, it would've been a few hundred dollars, but this just sits on my dash. The pros - easy easy set up! Bluetooth connected, paired and I was able to keep audio running through my car (so music and phone calls) and not use the speaker on the little unit. Touchscreen has been perfect! Siri makes texting easy and safe. Cons - CORDS!! I thought this was wireless, and I don't feel like figuring out if another unit would be better. But, because I need to always have my phone plugged in (not for the unit, Waze, etc., just drains the battery fast), I have two cords going now. My phone charger didn't work in my 12V spot, so I plugged this unit into that and kept my phone charger in the cigarette lighter. No, this old car doesn't even have USB! I also had to figure out, like others, where to put it. Yes, it does slide-ish in to the CD compartment, but that's too low. Too much looking down. So, I did adhere it to my dash and it doesn't interfere with my sight lines at all. Honestly, I'm amazed this thing works and I do love it. I have no idea if it can ever be wireless, or not. I'm also not using the back-up camera because I have one. So, there could be convenient features that I haven't bothered to try. But, it does seem pretty basic and I'm grateful for Waze at my eyeline and for responsive Siri texting while not touching my phone! See pics - you'll see the cords (white is my phone charger, black goes into my console), the difference of it in the CD holder (too low) and how it looks on my dash. All in all, a good purchase! ... show more

  • For the money, amazing! For everything else, one star down.
For the money, it is amazing, but it is not the most responsive unit, and it is hard to see and use while driving. It is such a useful product for those on a budget and after buying one for my son's car, I ended up buying 3 more of the exact same product. It connects very quickly and does what it says it does. I don't have the backup cameras connected on any of the 4 vehicles using it. We are all using iPhones, so it is strictly Airplay in use. Setup wasn't that difficult, but it defaults to using the internal speaker, which must be switched to the proper audio output that you want to use. The internal speaker is tiny and sounds pretty bad. But, it offers Bluetooth connectivity, wired 3.5mm audio, and FM radio transmission. Having this many connection methods means you get at least one solution which will work for you. We went with the 3.5mm aux. connection on all of our cars. Upon the car powering up the 12v lighter outlet the unit powers on in just a few seconds, and quickly connects to Carplay. This is shocking for how fast it happens. I own a Chevy Bolt with built in Carplay and it does not start up or connect as fast as this unit does. Thumbs up on that! It is clear that the underlying software is something other than Carplay, likely Android. It leaves a small button on the screen that allows you to return to the 'home' screen and change settings. I think it would have been nicer to have a physical home button as the soft button is just always there. It's on my screen no matter what app I'm using. If the app I'm using has its own button under the 'home' soft button, then I have to move the 'home' button to use my app. It does work just like Carplay does on other vehicles I have used with it built in. It is wireless. Massive thumbs up on that. It's about as responsive as I have seen on built in Carplay as well. Besides my Bolt, I have used Hyundai, Toyota, and other vehicles with it built in. So, points for it doing what it is supposed to do. Hardware is not great. I used the window attachment and arm for my son's car. The arm broke. I am using the sticky pad on my minivan and it is holding up well, but it doesn't offer a lot of movement to point the screen one way or another. This matters because we then get into the big negatives... Viewing angle and brightness are bad. Really bad. I also find the buttons to be small at this screen size which makes it tough to hit buttons. I accept the size being what it is, so buttons will be hard to hit on the first try and needs a steady hand. The bad brightness with terrible viewing angle makes it nearly unusable. It simply is tough to read and see what is going on when in use during the day. After dark it's great, but during the day? Not so much. I imagine younger eyes than mine may find it usable and not tough to see what's going on, but the poor viewing angle means that like other LCD screens it gets washed out what viewing from the side. So, point it right at you and it is easier. Since it has a swivel head on the mount, it seems like that should be a solution, but it just doesn't offer enough motion to allow me to point mine directly back at me. Leaving me off axis and a tough viewing angle. So, yeah, a big negative there, but not one of the 4 have failed on us. They all work and allow us to use our maps and listen to streaming music while driving and keeps the controls right there in front of us. Make calls. Create text messages (hands free). It does the normal Carplay stuff. Incoming calls sound good, but I have had people say they can't hear me well some times, but not always. On a budget? Get this! Absolutely. If you are younger with good eyes, it is a insanely good addition to put wireless Carplay into your vehicle that doesn't have it built in. If you have older eyes and want better viewing angles and a larger screen with buttons that are easier to hit, then get a different panel that is larger. Just read the reviews. I'm going to upgrade my unit. The kids will keep theirs. ... show more

  • Absolutely amazing operation
I rent cars often for work. I’m very familiar with Car Play and love it. My Toyota 4 Runner was made just prior to the advent of car play. I looked at installing a new head unit to replace my radio but the cost gets pretty high, in some cases $700. I have many significant home repairs In progress and need to be frugal. I rolled the dice on this and won big time. It 100% replicate all the new units in new rental cars. It was effortless to set up and I Blue Tooth it to my car stereo using its awesome speakers. It completely satisfied my wish for car play for about $50 with a very awesome unit, saving me hundreds of dollars. ... show more

  • Big screen convenience without replacing your car stereo
What makes this portable CarPlay screen so appealing is how easy it is to set up. There’s no need to tear apart the dashboard or replace the factory radio — it plugs right into the cigarette lighter and sits neatly on the dash. That means it works with nearly any car, truck, or van, and you can even move it between vehicles if needed. For older cars without built-in CarPlay or Android Auto, it’s an affordable way to get modern features. The wireless CarPlay and Android Auto connection works smoothly after the first setup. I love being able to use Siri or Google Assistant hands-free for calls, texts, and navigation. The 7-inch touchscreen is bright and responsive, making maps easy to follow at a glance. For road trips, the screen mirroring feature is a fun bonus — streaming videos from YouTube or TikTok on a bigger screen definitely helps pass the time. Sound options are flexible too. You can connect audio through Bluetooth, FM transmission, or AUX, depending on what works best with your car’s system. Even the built-in speaker does a decent job if you just want quick setup. The included backup camera is another major perk. It’s waterproof, supports night vision, and automatically switches on when reversing, which makes parking a lot less stressful. I also appreciate the little touches like brightness adjustment for night driving, support for multiple languages, and the ability to play media from a USB or SD card. With a solid warranty and easy installation, it really upgrades the driving experience without the cost and hassle of replacing an entire stereo system. For anyone wanting safer, smarter, and more connected driving, this screen delivers. ... show more

  • Just okay.
My car does not have an AUX or Bluetooth connection option, so I was excited to find a way to connect my phone to the car radio and have a nice sized screen to view my maps on. This was my upgrade from my previous, smaller bluetooth device that broadcast over the radio. I liked this little device a lot for the first little while that I used it. Unfortunately, after about an hour (give or take) of continuous use, the device powers off and reboots itself. Very frustrating and annoying, but especially so when I am in the middle of following directions! That, combined with what I believe to be a weak broadcasting signal that causes a lot of static when playing through the radio have made this a return. PROS: • Easy and quick connectivity: Once I connected my iPhone to the device through CarPlay, it connects automatically every time I turn on my car and begins to play whatever music/audiobook I was last listening to. • Good size display that isn't too reflective CONS: • Reboots after about an hour of continuous use • Static-y sound when broadcasting through the radio • Few seconds of lag and sound delay when switching or pausing songs through my phone Also, I did not use the mounts that it came with—I already had a CD mount for my phone holder with a ball socket that the device was able to fit. I also did not attempt to install the backup camera. ... show more

  • Does it live up to the price?
Works well, but if you live in a hot climate, the screen gets extremely hot and starts running slowly. The glue used to stick it to your dashboard also doesn’t hold up well in the heat. If the sun hits the screen, it can be very difficult to see. The dash does not hold well in the heat, but the backup camera can still work without having to wire it to your taillight. You just have to navigate to the backup camera option on the screen. When I purchased it, I thought it would come with screws or at least have screw holes for mounting, but it does not. I’ve had it for about three months now, and despite the issues listed above, it still works well overall. ... show more
