I’ve been using this Mac Mini for a few weeks now and it’s honestly exceeded all expectations. It’s super compact, so it fits perfectly on my desk without taking up space, but don’t let the size fool you — this thing is seriously powerful. I mainly use it for work (lots of browser tabs, Zoom calls, and Adobe apps), and it doesn’t even flinch. Everything is smooth, apps open instantly, and it stays completely silent, even when I’m running multiple things at once. The 1TB of storage is great because I don’t have to worry about juggling external drives, and having 16GB of RAM makes a big difference when switching between tasks. I’ve also done some light video editing and the performance has been buttery. Setup was simple, and the M1 chip just makes everything feel more fluid. This was a good deal. The M1 chip is plenty powerful and having a couple standard USB ports (and USB-C/thunderbolt) is nice. Plugged into an AC Power monitor showed amazingly low power requirements. Only a couple watts. Even after nearly a week it had used less than1kwhr. So for me under $0.40/mo. 24/7. Definitely be sure you get 16GB as apps are memory hogs! Xcode + browser & emulator eat most of that. Mine has 1TB SSD 16GB. Zero heat. Totally quiet. And 5G wifi is fine. Runs latest Mac OS no problem. ... show more

I've been curious about Macs for a long time but always was too afraid to jump in because the cost to value offered by Apple's products was somewhat poor in the past. However, the Mac mini is the first product Apple has released in some time that I find to be a compelling value. The M1 chip is crazy fast and the machine is eerily silent. My last desktop sounded like a fighter jet, but you'd be hard pressed to tell the Mac mini was on, save for the indicator light at the front. There are 2 quirks to the machine that I did not know about at the time of purchase that I'd like to warn others about. First, MacOS is optimized for 4k+ resolutions. On lower resolutions, it scales down and the results are sometimes iffy. Text is sometimes blurry or hard to read (especially small text). Depending on what you'd use it for, you may want to upgrade to a 4k monitor. I'm using a 1440p monitor and still having some issues. For day to day stuff, the computer is still perfectly functional, however. The second quirk is that MacOS natively does not support volume control if you're outputting your sound via your monitor; the volume plays at full blast with the expectation that you'll use your monitor/speaker controls to adjust it. It seems like there are some third-party apps that can serve as a workaround for this. Alternatively, you can connect the Mac mini via its 3.5mm jack to some speakers. If you're really crazy, the Mac Mini does have built in speakers as well (which I was stunned to learn!); they sound quite poor, however. ... show more
