Spiral is the way to go. Worth it to have pages lay flat. The interactive is decent. Great introduction to playing techniques with explanations.

Good beginner book. I practice using a youtube video of a B flat ambient pad and an additional video of a 60 BPM beat playing at the same time. You will fly through the lessons.. then move on the jazz.

Bought for my son when he started band in school. It was required by the teacher. A copy of the book also came with his new trumpet, so check with the music store before you buy one!

    • Great beginning brass player book.
Does your band use this book? It is a great starter for the beginning brass player. I'm an old trombonist, but recently had the itch to play trumpet. Found a horn online and started on page one of this book. I'm progressing! The Essential Elements series is very good.

I play saxophone as my main instrument, and learned on this book, so when I started learning trumpet (self-taught with some prior knowledge) I knew to get this, and it is amazing. Starts with good exercises and a slowly expanding range.
