I received this today, a day earlier than expected. I bought the 8x5 as that's all I needed. It's completely straightforward to build. Took about 4 hours, including a 45 minute trip to Home Depot to buy some anchors that suited my situation better than the concrete anchors supplied. The instructions are perfectly clear, just pay attention to the pictures and get everything in the correct orientation. Any time there's something to watch out for, it's noted explicitly in the text. I made one mistake with a bottom mounting plate that took 90 seconds to fix - undid two bolts, flipped it, did them up. Anyone who says that the instructions are bad, has never made flat pack furniture. As long as you follow the instructions, then the roof panels slot right in. Then the end caps push them to the correct location. Overall, quite nicely engineered. As usual, I was noting areas that could be improved - and in complete honesty, there's nothing really in the design that could be improved without actually making it more complicated. The materials themselves could be thicker, but they're fine and fit for purpose. Once bolted to the house and the floor, it's completely stable. It could be built by one person - and for the most part I did, except for putting up the main beams and the first roof support, where I had my wife help hold it up for a minute. I think the same would go for the larger sizes; a helping hand is useful in a couple of areas, but could probably be worked around. Tools - a level is useful when bolting it down. I used a drill driver in a few places (putting the beams together) for speed, but it's not necessary (unless you need to drill anchor holes). I have a couple of small dings in a couple of the beams, and a 1/2" scratch on one of the room beams. Invisible unless you specifically look for them. Note - make it in the shade. I would occasionally pick up pieces that had been in the sun for an hour and they were HOT. Overall, recommended, especially for the price.

Very surprised in the quality of this. Took me about 8 hours to build. Directions aren't bad but really make sure you are paying attention especially the L brackets on the ceiling runs. Easy to do that step wrong and have to backtrack. This thing is very sturdy. You need to anchor it into the ground as well as anchor it into your house. I added some extra support brackets from my old gazebo just for piece of mind but I can literally do pull ups on this thing. Also I really like how the polycarbonate ceiling panels are just rectangle shapes. It would be pretty easy to get replacements. I do doubt though that this thing will handle any snow but removing ceiling panels is so easy I'll just take them out before winter. Only bad thing I had is one of the pillars had a dent in it from shipping but cmon with the price of this what do you expect? I knew what I was getting. Don't listen to the bad reviews saying it's wobbly, they had me nervous but if you just do it right and properly secure it like any structure then this thing is solid. If it's wobbly or seems unstable then you aren't doing something right. My only real complaint is rain drainage is not great, I'm going to put a gutter on the end because it's like a waterfall when it really rains. I had no leaks in between the panels. I think other people had that issue because it is honestly tricky to get them in to the grooves tight. Just gotta take your time and make sure everything is flush.

I purchased 2 of these. When assembled, sturdy, good looking frame. Only issue is the plastic roof sheets. The plastic is honeycombed and AWFUL to work with. VERY HARD TO FULLY INSTALL as they get caught on the top/bottom edges meant to hold them in place. The shade provided is diffused sunlight which is hotter than if blocked. Not sure how long they will last in weather. Expect them to get blown out in wind events. Will look into some corrugated material for replacement.

I love this for my back yard. My husband and I were able to put it together. It took a total of about 7-8 hours. But it’s worth it. Feels sturdy. Directions are a bit difficult but I was able to follow. A lot of pieces but not really hard to assemble. Had two men do framing first. Packaged very well. No damages no missing parts. I also like that it has drainage system exactly what I want! It can both keep out the rain and shade the sun, it's fantastic!

One star, but only because zero isn’t an option. I would not buy this pergola again. And I'm hoping to help you from buying the first time. The finished product looks like the photos online, but that’s where the positives end. The assembly process was one of the most frustrating I’ve ever experienced. The instructions are a major problem. The illustrations are so small that it’s nearly impossible to determine the correct orientation of many of the parts. We frequently had to guess because the drawings simply weren’t detailed enough for a project of this size and complexity. Assembly took us over eight hours with three people, exactly as the manufacturer recommends. Most of that extra time was spent taking sections apart and rebuilding them because of alignment problems. Even when we followed the instructions correctly, the joint connectors caused components to be out of alignment, making later pieces difficult or impossible to install without loosening or completely disassembling previously completed sections. In some cases, parts had to be forced into place, increasing the risk of bending or damaging them. There were no missing parts, but parts were mislabeled, adding even more confusion to an already difficult build. Another issue is the thin metal used in the frame. During assembly, the structure flexes enough that simply trying to square the frame causes it to bend, making the alignment issues even worse. The biggest design flaw, however, is the drainage system. Yes, the louvers do channel the rain toward the back as intended. Unfortunately, instead of directing the water safely away from the pergola, the design curves the water back underneath the structure. I’m including a video that clearly demonstrates this. The result is that roughly the first three feet under the pergola get soaked during rain, defeating one of the primary reasons for buying a louvered pergola in the first place. If you’re buying this because you expect a straightforward installation and a dry covered area when the louvers are closed, this product falls well short. It looks good when it’s finally assembled, but between the poor instructions, mislabeled parts, persistent alignment issues, flimsy frame during assembly, and ineffective drainage design, I cannot recommend it.

Exactly what our patio needed. Sturdy aluminum build, no wobble, and the roof panels really cut the heat while keeping it bright underneath. Sloped design handles rain like a champ—everything stays dry. Assembly was a bit of a workout, but parts were well-labeled and the manual made sense. Anchoring to the wall is a must, but totally worth it for the stability. highly recommend！

Love!! Very sturdy as we bolted it to the ground and house. Held up to high wind thunderstorms but it is protected mostly from the house. (Faces south) definitely worth the money. As far as assembly my husband and I assembled within a few hrs. The Instructions are very helpful.
