A potential hazard was revealed in the second month of operation. My wife and I were awakened in the early morning hour to a house that was over heated, I went to the thermostat to check the temperature, only to see that the thermostat was dead, yet still the furnace continued to run. I had to disconnect this thermostat from the wall to shut down the furnace. How do you design a device like this, when the batteries die it maintains a call for heat? Not Good, I have since wired it to use the furnace common low voltage supply. I don’t know exactly when the batteries died, if it were in mid cycle or not, but to leave the furnace running is unacceptable. Thermostat and batteries less than 2 months old. Update: Not to consider the performance and ease of install and use would not be fair. I am pleased with the accuracy, available adjustably, ease of installation. The instructions only mention the use of furnace supplied power as an option listed as a foot note in one of the wiring diagrams. Not using this option is what contributed to my above situation. In my opinion there should be a supplement notice addition, to the install instruction set that would present furnace power as preferred, rather than remote option. And also stress the possible hazard that could result with unit being dependent on battery power, as I have encountered.

Bought this to replace our old crappy thermostat. I love the big numbers. It was easy to install. I like that it lights up so I can adjust the temp at night without turning the light on!!

Simple installation for the most part. Had to figure out where to put the wires into the unit. A little trial and error solved this. Pulling it away from the base is tricky. Seems like it's going to break, and putting the two halves together is a bit wonky. I wasn't sure if they were seated. Outside of that, I like the big blue display and the ease of operation and changing the batteries!
