I need shelter from the sun but our umbrella bit the dust last year, and I’ve been really wanting more shade for our deck. I considered doing a DIY awning with piping and canvas, but the cost and time wasn’t worth it. I’ve seen the pergolas in the big box stores and really liked the look. So I measured the deck area and started looking on Amazon. It took forever to find one that would fit the area. And then I found this one, and because it actually had a picture with measurements that helped all the more. It also had pull down shades and everything I was looking for. Except reviews. 😳 but out of all the other ones I looked at, this one fit and had the best pics of measurements. And was really around the same price as all the others. So I ordered it and it arrived I think about a week. My husband put it together and it took him a little over an hour, until he did the retractable awning… that took a bit of time because at that point the instructions got a bit confusing… but after some trial and error we figured it out. We did end up loosing one of the slider hooks that lock it in place, and when I contacted the company they were quick to respond and the replacement arrived within two days. The pergola frame itself was a little low and couldn’t clear the door so my husband made 4” risers for it. It’s secured to our deck. And when the wind blows it stays put. I’m absolutely very satisfied and happy with this. I feel like I’m up in a tree house. My neighbors have all come to see it. We had rain the first night we put it up and the awning was closed, but when I opened it the next day there was no water trapped in the folds due to the little drip holes they have in there. Again I absolutely love this and extremely happy with our purchase!!! UPDATE: it rained yesterday and we had the awning open and everything under it stayed dried! You will not regret buying this product!!!

Looks great and is exactly what I wanted, appearance-wise. In general it is well-designed and perfect for use on our deck. I was disappointed that I could not find an assembly video. There's just no excuse for not offering one with something this complicated. The directions are helpful but leave a lot to be desired. All the parts were in the box (nothing was missing, thank goodness). Paint is missing on part of one of the posts (I will contact the manufacturer today) and the fabric on one of the roller shades was frayed around the edge. The cross bars that the roller shades attach to on the bottom are a little flimsy and will easily break. They should be thicker and either in 3 sections rather than 2, or with an added support in the middle for additional strength. My husband is going to figure out some ways to provide additional support for the structure -- but again, in general we are very happy with this purchase.

We have purchased 4 of the pergolas with the retractable canopy. We have been very pleased with the convenience of the canopy. We did fill the structure with pebbles to weight it down in higher winds. We live in snow country, so each fall we remove the canopy to alleviate any issues pertaining to our winter weather. We have all 4 pergola on our patio and have never had any issues with movement from weather. We have the 12x12 that shade us from the hot summer sun. We love the side curtains that you can pull down when needed. Yes the structure is aluminum, but we have not had any issues in structural integrity. We bought 2 pergolas in 2025 and prior 2 pergolas in 2023. All are still working great!

Looks great once assembled but be prepared for a long assembly, 6 hours for 1 person with a little help from a 2nd, that is trial and error caused by minimal instructions. Will need a mallet to pop in the caps at the 4 tops and connecting the roof tarp to the aluminum rods was challenging. There are rings and little explanation. They need to be on the middle and 2 ends. As for rain and storms, we will see. We would obviously keep the roof tarp closed to avoid heavy rain gathering. We drilled into the concrete -that was the only way I would feel safe that it won't blow away. We get some rainy windy days here in NY. Definitely did not expect too much for the price, but fairly happy overall it does it look nice and does the job shading us from the sun setting where we get full sun in the west. I have hopes for its longevity (but set in reality) and will update. Held up all winter summer #2 almost here.

We have a stone patio that get so hot that it is almost impossible to use in the summer. This pergola was a very nice addition! I was skeptical, but it provides a surprising amount of shade and cools the area nicely. It is attractive and sturdy enough. We have only hadn’t up for a couple of days but so far, so good in normal weather conditions. For the price, I think it is a great value! My husband is not especially handy and was able to get it put together fairly easily and was able to do most of it by himself. The doggies are loving sleeping under it in the shade and that is all that really matters, lol!

The frame is made of light and thin aluminum which makes the whole thing very unstable. The fasteners are made of soft materials which they round easy if you are not careful. I have rounded 4 Allen heads screws which I had to remove with special tool and then went to Lowe's and bought few M6 screws. The fabric does not hold rain water and they sip through and drain holes are useless. The instruction manual is not clear and actually shows 10 Ft. measurement on the long side and 13ft measurement on short side. There are two extra parts ( Z1, Zl1) that are not even used during assembly. I would not buy it again.

Got it to cover our hot tub and provide some privacy. Worth the price. Installation took me about 4 hours. But I did it alone while my husband was at work. With two people it would be WAY easier!
