I bought my system from Lowes several years ago and they no longer carry the cartridges. They now only carry the next step up model which the cartridges aren't compatible (I tried). Took seconds to replace and works as it should.

    • Better flow than Aquasana
Bought this filter accidentally when trying to get a replacement for our Aquasana same design filter system. Turns out this filter does not fit the Aquasana head (three tabs are smaller and more compact). Good news is this filter came with the correct head and all new connectors. I was able to trim the current Aquasana piping to just slide into the compression holes in this ao smith head and no leaks. Better news, this filter flows AT LEAST 3x stronger than our Aquasana did. Not sure if “basic filtration” is the same level of cleanliness but we’re happy to be able to fill a glass of water in under two minutes so we’re okay with it. Ps I think Aquasana stopped making this filter style so this is your new choice moving forward. It works fine and no clouding or taste issues.👍🏻 ... show more

    • Don't last, replacement filter reorder difficult.
Supposed to last 6 months. Replaced it several times in less than that. They send the entire kit, if in stock. Also loses pressure short time, matter of weeks. Had water tested before & was not bad. Tested after & not much change. New faucet & screens are clear.

I compared all the local box store options and the highly rated Amazon reviews before getting this guy. Ao smith allegedly bought aquasense around 2014 so they sell this branded version of the aq-5200. The plastic fittings work fine. The trick is to spin threaded parts backwards until the threads line up. Then go slow. The only way the install could have been easier is if the filter wasn’t so large. The hoses were pre-cut, they push into the fittings easily and nothing leaked. The filtered water is noticeably softer (that slimy feeling when soap doesn’t rinse fully away). Water taste and feel is greatly improved in my case. Only con is the filtered water volume. Some people claim the water volume is sufficient to run off the main faucet. That is not my experience. The instructions claim 1.5gpm but I suspect my water is much harder than the water they used to test the flow. I read that low volume could be caused by over tightening so I ran the water while spinning the filter trying to find the sweet spot. I ordered a dedicated faucet to fix the flow issue. ... show more
