  • Good device - Some quirks
Style: 1080P
Big fan of this Nebula 1080p projector. We stream everything and all streaming services deliver content in 720 or 1080 in limited cases (Youtube TV, Sling, Hulu, Fubo, etc.) The same holds true with DirectTV, Spectrum, XFINITY, Cox, you name it cable providers. No real need for a 4k projector at this point. Maybe in 3-5 years if those providers get their act together. We've watched 4k programs on Amazon Prime rendered in 1080p natively. Image quality is solid. 100% worth the cost. I got it on Black Friday and got a pretty good deal. Happy with the purchase. Colors out the box lean on the cooler side but all are correctable. Good out-of-the-box autofocus with manual adjustment if needed (I've never had to use it). Keystone is good but know that your backlit area doesn't change. (IE - If you mounted it and your throw ratio is wrong you'll have light bleed). Android 9.0 is good - Nebula connect is a little goofy but most people by now have a streaming device you can use if you don't like the UI. Nebula Connect app is solid. Biggest gripe - lack of mounting instructions and the projector doesn't recognize it's upside down when ceiling mount. The NEBULA loading screen is upside down as is the Android loading screen. It gets corrected once the device fully loads but it looks terrible. I'll avoid people from seeing this as much as possible. It takes a device that looks over $1,000 easily and cheapens it. Expected better from Nebula. The sound system is more than adequate for your typical user. Way better than a TV speaker system. On par with a budget soundbar....who really "needs" more? Nebula is pretty quiet with the fan. I do not notice it once we turn something on. Ocassionally - the project is black after startup. Not sure if this an app glitch or what but the home screen doesn't load. I'm trying to reach Anker's support team. ... show more

  • Impressive 4K projector with Android TV OS built-in
Style: 4K
I’m a Capsule 2 user since 2019. The Capsule 2 is good, but not great for daytime-use especially in the bigger family room with large windows due to the limited brightness and resolution. This Cosmos Max caught my eye because of its design and 4K specs. Pros: 1. The design and built quality is great. Love the starlight top panel design. 2. The 4K image quality is bright and clear, good enough to use during the day in the family room. 3. The Android TV OS is easy to use. I use Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video a lot and work perfectly so far. 4. The sound quality of the built-in speaker is great and loud, bass is very powerful. Looks like it supports Dolby digital plus. Cons: 1. So far not much to complain, but for this price, I do hope this is a ultra short throw projector so I can put it in front of the wall. 2. This projector is quiet, but not as quiet as my low er brightness & res Capsule, understood the 2500 lm generates much more heat. Other options like laser projectors on the market are too pricey 3. The Netflix and Prime video needs to be installed via the Nebula Manager app, it is very easy to install so I'm fine with it. Overall, a great smart 4K projector to try. ... show more

  • Like being at the movies!
Style: 4K
Whether I'm watching regular network tv or a movie in uhd from one of my streaming services the picture quality is excellent. I have a Sony 85k 43" that I use to watch in the bedroom but hardly ever use now that I have this in the living room. I'm guessing if I compared them side by side the Sony might have a better picture but I can't tell the difference otherwise. I have it set back a little over 10ft which gets me about 105" picture. I am using a white wall as a screen and it works perfectly,so I see no need to buy a screen. The sound quality is also great, it has 4 speakers with Dolby audio and it almost sounds as good as my Sonos Beam. It also has Google Android 9.0 built in, if you don't have a streaming device. Also it has an LED bulb that says last the life of projector 30,000 hrs so no changing bulbs like lamp projectors. The negatives I would say are not as many settings like my tv such as Picture settings are very limited and no audio adjusments, remote has no mute button and easy to hit the wrong button till you get used to it. I mostly use my Roku Ultra. There is some fan noise but I didn't find it distracting even with it right next to me but you might notice in quieter scenes. The picture can be made smaller from 30" to 150" if you have a bigger living room but I left it at the 105" size I got when I set it up. Now as far as what settings to use for picture I have never agreed with all of the settings experts offer. I like Standard picture mode. Brightness stays at 100. Contrast 65 and instead of offering the usual warm, cool they have numbers so I did use the settings I took from an expert review to supposedly give me a warm picture. In Advanced settings, Under color temperature R-49,G-46,B-43 I left the Saturation,Hue and Gain settings as is,tried adjusting to expert settings but preferred the default. Also in Advanced changed Gamma to 1.8 it makes the picture a little brighter, but be warned if you change the picture mode to anything else like movie everything resets to default another negative I forgot to mention. Also it has something called Keystone correction which lines up the picture perfectly flat against the wall so you can put the projector where you want but the experts say don't use it because it affects the brightness. I wasn't able to line it up perfectly without moving furniture which I didn't want to do so I used it. Don't bother with Auto Keystone it only corrects Vertical unless that's your only issue my Horizontal was also off so I used manual correction. I found it's better to use the Quadrilateral Keystone correction had less effect on screen size and leave the Vertical and Horizontal set to default 0. The picture does look best in a darker room so having a lamp with a dimmer bulb or shutting light off. I also recommend room darkening shades which let's some light in if you want like I have which I use with blackout curtains partially closed. I've always wanted a big screen TV and this beats buying a huge TV and dealing with the setup and if I move put in back in the box and done! ... show more
