Ford Focus Mk3 2011-2019 UPDATE: I had to update to let y'all know what I found when using this system. Some "facts," are correct; some are not. The general feel of the unit, in the original review, stands. First- This has a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. The processor IS a reasonably decent four core, with 4 ARM Cortex-A53 processors running at 1.46 GHz. 2GB RAM. 64GB ROM. Android 14. The remote microphone sounds much better than the one built into the unit; according to friends that I talked to on the phone. The viewable aera of the screen is about 9-5/8" when you include the the air system controls...excluding them gives you a screen of right about 9" diagonal. The Pre-amp/equalizer is great...the other DSP settings, once I was ready to dial everything in, I found to be pretty limited...For a budget system they would be adequate. I don't know how I missed this one: There is NO AM radio...FM only...RDS works. ORIGINAL REVIEW: UN-EDITED. Ford Focus Mk3 2011-2019 This 2013 Focus is one of the easier vehicles to install a new infotainment system into. I will skip the little details, you can get them online if you need to. Start off with disconnecting the negative battery cable. To remove the old radio from your vehicle: Use a plastic prybar to remove the small piece of trim from directly below the red hazzard light button. Remove two Phillips head screws that were under the removed trim and tilt the whole face plate, with the vent openings, up and away from the dash...use the pry bar at the edges if you need to. There should be only one plug to disconnect. Remove the two Phillips screws from the tabs at the top of the silver radio. The radio should pull straight out. carefully remove the wires from the back of the radio. You are now ready to follow the given instructions to wire your new system. The install is pretty straight forward...no surprises. This infotainment systems multi-tasking capabilities are limited...it only has 2GB of RAM to support the Android 14 operating system running on a 4-Core 2,0GHz processor. I did not notice any significant lag when testing...I especially note that the steering wheel controls worked with no lag at all...thanks in part to the included CANBUS box. As long as you don't keep too many APPs open and limit the background use of the processor, by APPs and services, this system should keep running well..no lag. This is the main reason for the affordable price: the other is the screen...not that it is all that bad. A system with a QLED screen will usually cost you significantly more. The onboard data storage isn't bad at all: 64GB. Plus, with the two USB ports, you can add as much external storage as you want for media files (music/movies/pics/documents/etc.) Wireless Apple Carplay , wireless & wired Android Auto, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi: All work great...connections in under half a minute at startup. I did not experience any noticeable drop-outs. MirrorLink worked well. The built-in and the second, remote-locatable, microphones allow you to take advantage of all the voice control functionality of the radio and your connected phone. This system has an impressive looking screen; even when the system is off. It has a mirrored surface. Your vehicle will look soo different when this is installed...the provided bezel, around the radio and vents, looks factory installed...just like this thing was supposed to be there. The look is soo modern. The 10.4" (10" viewable,) IPS multi-point-touchscreen, with a resolution of 1024 x 718 is bright enough to clearly see the image in sunlight. The vibrant colors and deep contrast are better than some that I have installed. I was able to read E-Mails, online, on the screen. Movies looked and sounded good. The native GPS Navigation works great both Off-line and On-line: The offline map data is pre-loaded. If you would prefer, you can, of course, download your favorite navigation APP from the Android Market, to use in place of the built in one...at least, when you have an internet connection. The native system does not require you to be online. The audio system is really good. Anchored by an AM/FM radio with RDS (displays background info about what is playing,) the built-in pre-amp-30-band EQ gives you great control, to tailor the sound to your preference. The addition of a Digital Sound Processor chip (DSP), gives you tons of Surround sound enhancements. Split-Screen Mode; run two apps on-screen side by side. Although this does not include a Sim card slot, it does have support for one that can be plugged into one of the two USB-A ports. It also supports an AHD back-up camera (not included.) If your vehicle already has one, then it should work on this unit...if not then you will have to purchase one separately. Be aware that installing a new camera is more involved, and time consuming, than installing the main system upgrade. You can also add a front view camera (dash cam) and set this up as a PVR. This front Cam is NOT included. I really like being able to have the Torque Pro(OBD2) APP active right on the dash. I use a wireless adapter that plugs into the port under the dash to monitor the vehicle computer system....It helps to spot problems before they cause a break-down...even lets you know just what the trouble codes mean. I can then reset the fault codes (turning off the check engine light,) right from the touch-screen. Also: It just looks really impressive to have a second, really high tech, dashboard with comprehensive vehicle status lists and gauges. I no longer need to use my phone to access the data. Overall: A very good, affordable system that adds soo much functionality to your vehicle while looking fantastic. Functionally, at this price point, I'd only give this four stars, however that screen has a real "cool," factor that deserves the full 5 stars.
