The shower door bottom seal fits a 3/8 inch x 36 inch swinging shower door, but can easily be cut to fit a shorter door with a hacksaw, tin snips or utility knife. This is the second replacement for my shower door. They seem to last about 3 years, which ma,especially it durable. The plastic is strong, making a very sharp knife necessary to cut the strip to the proper length. It prevents the water getting out of the shower. The only concern is cleaning the plastic since it is a very tight fit over the glass door. Removing the strip on a regular basis to clean is not really a viable option. Shower door sweeps are one of the most common items that I replace for my clients. If you have a glass shower door, you can bet that the sweep will start failing at about the two-year mark. When this happens, water will start leaking out on your floor, this is frustrating and, in some cases, can cause damage to the sub floor. These seals are easy to install, all you need is a sharp razor blade, some glass cleaner and a little time (maybe 10 minutes). Make sure to measure the thickness of the door so you can order the correct size needed (unless you have some off brand, budget grade door that the builder installed because they wanted to save a penny or two, see the "heading title"). The old sweep should slip off the door, downwards. It may take a little force because of calcium build up but will come off. Using the "new" sharp razor, BE CAREFUL, and shave the calcium debris off the door, then clean the glass so the new seal will slip into place. Make sure to install the sweep with the water diverter facing into the shower enclosure. The seal should fit snugly, and it may take a little force to get it place. Start from the hinge side of the door and work towards the outside edge. Once installed, you can use the razor blade to trim the seal to length, and you're done. ... show more
