This is a very simple tool, but it has been made so nicely it clearly had some thought put into it. To start, the packaging was very simple, no waste. Upon opening, I was very excited to see the beautiful wood grain right off the bat. I would not describe the wood as "tight grain" as the description notes, but it is a very attractive piece nonetheless. Being that these are all natural wood handles and no wood type was specified, I would expect the handle to vary for every piece, no surprise here. Picking the tamper up... heavier than I expected! The tamper surface is very neatly machined with no burrs and good weight, no need to press down at all when preparing your espresso puck, the weight of this piece should take care of it for you and take out the guesswork. I noticed pretty quickly that the handle and tamper surface are attached via a threaded post. This is a great feature as it will let you wash off the tamper surface without getting the wood handle wet, a great feature for longevity of the handle. Went ahead and washed the tamper surface off, reassembled the unit, and got right to making some espresso. As expected, no pressure was needed at all to get a nice even press on the surface of the coffee grounds, very nice. I made sure to measure before ordering this unit, and would recommend anyone looking to do the same. As a result, this tamper was a perfect fit for my espresso basket insert. Overall, this is a beautiful and functional addition to my espresso setup and should help me get a more consistent cup of espresso every time.

I wasn’t expecting much for under $7, but this espresso tamper completely exceeded my expectations. The stainless steel base is heavy and evenly balanced, which gives it the right amount of pressure when tamping. It fits my 51mm portafilter perfectly, and the flat base distributes the grounds nice and evenly without any extra effort. The wooden handle is polished, dense, and comfortable to grip. It doesn’t feel cheap at all—honestly, it looks and feels like something that should cost four times as much. It has a satisfying weight and sits well in the hand, which makes tamping feel smooth and controlled. No sharp edges, no rough seams—just a clean, solid tool. If you’re just getting into espresso or need a backup tamper, this is a no-brainer. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, looks great on the counter, and doesn’t break the bank. I’d recommend this to beginners and pros alike.

I have to say that I was not expecting much in terms of quality at this price point. I was wrong and was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. The handle is made of solid hardwood with a really nice grain and a fantastic finish. It's very rich in color and tone, which really complements our cabinets and surroundings. This tamper also feels very solid and heavy, and it fits our 51mm De'Longhi portafilter perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid, well-built 51mm tamper at a reasonable price.

I use my espresso machine two to three times a day. It's a good machine however it came with a tamper that is rather light and I have trouble getting to right tamp using it. I decided to order this tamper to see if I could get a more consistent and even tamp. The answer is absolutely. This tamper is weighted properly so you don't press to get a good tamp. It's very well balanced too so the tamp is even and clean. This tamper has made a huge difference in the taste of my espressos. It also ensures that my tamp is perfect every time. I even noticed that the ground pop out in a nice formed cake whereas with the other tamper, they were wet and sticky. I'm so glad I ordered this tamper. Well worth the price too!

First, it is a great coffee tamper and fits well in a 51mm Expresso basket. When you first see it, it’s fine craftsmanship is readily apparent. It is too attractive to keep in a drawer. But given the low price, I recommend buying it for other potential uses if you don’t own an Expresso machine. It can be used in the kitchen to crunch up nuts, chocolate, candy, crackers and other things. But it could also be used in other ways too. I showed it to a neighbor, and he wants one to use as a paperweight on his home office desk. It really is that pretty, and weighs something like 1/2 lb. Expresso owners will love this tamper, but others will too!

This espresso 51mm tamper perfectly fits a "CASABREWS 51mm Bottomless Portafilter with Puck Screen & Filter Basket, 3 Ears Espresso Handle for CM5418 & 3700Essential" found here on Amazon. The machining and finish are excellent, and quality of of the wood handle is exceptional. The weight is surprising, and very useful for the tamping operation. Having a perfect fit ensures that your espresso puck will be evenly tamped, including around the edges. The ability to unscrew the head from the wooden body is great to enable washing it from the inevitable buildup of roasted coffee bean oils. The price is very reasonable for such high quality, IMHO. Highly recommended.
