    • Good hive, good price, you really should put additional wax on the foundation
Recommended hives, nice quality, they fit together well, and it’s a decent price for what you get. You should probably paint the boxes and, as many have noted, you really should add additional wax to the foundation that these come with. Give your bees a better start to draw the frames out correctly and avoid wonky comb or blank spots. Not all pre-waxed foundation is equal and the ones mine came with had only a minimal coating that my bees had a tougher time with. Definitely worth it to add more wax! ... show more

Good quality for the price. Easy to assemble. There where a couple cracked pieces on the frames, but was easily fixed with wood glue.

    • Packaged Well but Not Aligned
Packaged nicely and box was not damaged. However, about a quarter of the side wall pieces were not aligned at teeth to be put together in boxes. Some sawing did have to be done to make fit, and now small gaps are present on hive corners.

    • Good quality hive
The package was complete and as described. All pieces were whole and unbroken. Pieces are cut for a snug fit. I suggest with the frames that a dermal is used to give a little more room to prevent splitting. This is a good quality hive. It is easy to put together, and takes 2-3 hours to do so. I chose to pre-drill, and countersink as well as glue for additional strength. As this is wood, there will be some need to sand and not every joint meets entirely flush. That said, this is well made, accurately cut, and well measured. I would purchase again. ... show more

All pieces accounted for, well packed. This is a fine beginer kit. The wood is not top quality which is reflected in the price. Deep grooves fit well, but the medium cuts were a hair thick and gave me some trouble on assembly. The frame pieces generally fitted well, with 2-3 out of 30 being noticeably imperfect, but still completely usable. Comes with good quality wood glue, but not nails/screws. Awesome quality! Easy to put together!! By far the best ‘some assembly required’ product I’ve ever bought! I am brand new to beekeeping and have been nervous about jumping in. If the rest of my efforts go even half as well as assembling my first hive boxes I’ll have this thing nailed! (Riiiiight!!) But seriously I am super impressed with this product and would purchase again in a heartbeat. All the pre-cut parts fit together beautifully and the only tool I needed was a rubber mallet.     • You better own a chisel!
I thought I found a gem on Amazon. USA Amish made at that price was else to ask. As usual, you get what you pay for. It is usable, but I had to chisel every single piece to make them fit together. Very tedious job. The wood is of very poor quality, some boards came warped and the alignment is not great. The bee space seems wrong in some part and one of the deep is too wide and the frames won’t fit. ... show more
