For the money this is an excellent purchase. I looked at several in store couches and a number of other leather couches on various websites. This one met all my needs exceptionally well. It was not at all difficult to put together and whether the back piece of the couch is leather I cannot say but being an experienced upholsterer the way the back is sewn with fabric is ideal to prevent stretching. My only complaint was that several of the metal clips came bent out a bit but a pliers straightened them right out. It. may simply have been damage in transit as box came damaged but materials were all intact. I rarely write a review of products unless they truly impress me and this couch does. As we are older retirees, the couch will have minimal use but from experience, I can definitely see that it will withstand normal use very well. The construction is similar to mid century couches from the 1960's, having the base webbed platform which I actually love because if there is any future saving in the seat, it is easily repairable. I couch deserves a 5 star for the look of MCM, beauty of the leather, it's neutral color and color on the legs that works well with my MCM walnut pieces. To date it seems firm and that's what I like the most as it supports me and my husband very well. I tend to not buy foreign made due to quality but this couch has changed my thinking on this companies quality and concern for a good price point for economical buyers. I like the way it looks it is challenging to put together. The sofa has a strong initial smell. I am a bigger guy and I like the way the sofa sits. I would buy if the sofa is more of a decoration but not if it was for normal day in day out use. Spend a few hundred more and get a nicer sofa. It’s not really that difficult to put together. As others have mentioned if you get an Allen wrench bit for your drill, it’ll go much much faster.

I was really nervous about this sofa for fear of comfort and quality. It’s exactly what I needed for my sore back and the price was great! I need a firm straight seat with a low back and this works better than the 4000.00 one I was going to wait 6-8 weeks for. Now, I don’t except it to hold up for several years but I think it will make it 2 or 3if we don’t plop down on it a lot. It surely won’t last with kids but ours are long gone. As to the assembly, it was a little harder than I expected but not impossible by any means. The fault was the instructions and I just set them aside and came back with a fresh mind and reasoned it out. The recommendation to use an Allen wrench attachment on a drill is good BUT bear in mind these screws are SOFT and I stripped 2 even being careful. If I do this again I will go buy stainless screws before I even start. If you have any mechanical mind at all, you can do this . It will need a second set of hands ... show more

Couch is okay once assembled but impossible to put together with the Alan wrench provided. I had to hired a TaskRabbit to help me assemble. They said it is not possible to assemble this couch without a drill. Unless you have a drill or want to spend $70 on a TaskRabbit save your money and buy a different couch. ... show more
