Our previous patio cover collapsed under a heavy snow so we searched for something with stronger legs and top. This Amerlife gazebo seemed right. It was delivered quickly in five boxes, firmly packaged and well marked. No crumbly foam inside - a big plus for me! The many little bags of hardware (inside a handy large bag) were clearly marked for easy organization. The user guide gave well organized guidance for the workspace and order of building steps. Warnings: take the construction illustrations deliberately from top to bottom of each page and in proper page order- there are no words. And pay specific attention to the part numbers. The boxes with the top panels parts are very heavy. The panels are fairly thin and corners can bend if not handled with care. We did need four people briefly when standing the legs up but two were plenty for most of the rest. The finished cover has a sort of barn feel, which is perfect for our rural setting. I love the side table for plants… and our cat has claimed it as a sun spot. All of this for a very reasonable price; I couldn’t be happier. We’ll see when the next big wind comes along or a hail storm. I may revise this review if either causes damage.

We installed this on our deck and attached it to our house to create a country porch feel. I was surprised by the quality. As a crew of 4 we were able to put it up in about 8 hours or less. The instructions were easy to follow. The materials seem to be of decent quality. With a few basic tools and some DIY experience, anyone should be able to install this. I will also note that with the main structure being made of wood, there is flexibility in how you install it. For example railing or additional posts can be added to it. Attachment to existing structures is also easy.

I’m not having the sagging issues some other customers complain about. It went up fairly easy, but the hardware is not power tool friendly. You have to find a special hex bit or do everything by hand. My biggest issue is with the lack of a run off for rain water. The kit’s roof does not extend past the edge and the flashing does nothing to keep water off the face of the wood. I can see this being a major issue in a couple of years so I’ll have to come up with a solution.

Directions are confusing. I had to undo several steps because the illustration showed parts upside down when put together, it was wrong. Wood is light and cracks if mishandled. Looks good when done. Steps are easy once you realize directions are not clear and you improvise.
