Have owned it for a month. My old one for my toilet broke and needed to buy a decent one before guests arrived. This one came quickly, installed it and works great. Sitting on it feels good (lol), its durable, and doesnt fall down randomly for me. Its the same color as my american standard original. We have three American Standard toilets in our 38 year old house. We take care of them and would never replace one of them with these new modern less water toilets. My plumber of thirty eight years always enjoys when one of his customers ask him to replace one of these old toilets with a new model cause he can get a great price on their junked toilet. Our toilets have always worked great and the American Standard parts are readily available on Amazon. We normally replace the seats when they start looking like they need replacing......normally around 10 years. I always keep a couple of this model on hand in my garage for use when I need a new one. I have never had one break or look bad in our bathrooms. We would not like one of those new readily available slow closing lids which are probably for lazy people. I just ordered two new replacements for my garage storage area. I can not find this particular lid at any of the box stores in North Florida (Tallahassee) or South Georgia. I moved recently and noticed that one of the bathroom toilet seats had seen better days. The bumpers underneath the toilet seat were split and cracking and I considered buying a bumper set but it wasn't long until I noticed that the hinges were cracking on the Bemis toilet seat. So buying hinge and bumper replacement sets would not be the most economical. it would actually be a better deal to buy a new toilet seat. This American Standard toilet seat fits much better than the Bemis' seat that I had before because it hung over the toilet bowl and was very lightweight and much lower quality. This toilet seat is made of wood but is encased in a thick hard plastic which makes it very easy to clean. I got a great Amazon Warehouse Deal on mine and if you have never purchased any Warehouse Deal before than you should check it out.Just click under "used" even though they are new products that the box has been opened for example. Pick the deal you want and you can save a considerable amount of money. I installed this toilet seat myself with just a regular screwdriver in just a matter of minutes. Extremely easy! ... show more

We ordered this as a replacement for our old toilet seat. Installation was easy and took only a couple of minutes to remove the old one and install the new one. The seat is comfortable when you sit on it, is easy to clean and durable. However, When you open the lid, the seat comes up too. When you open both the lid and the seat together, the seat falls down and can hit your hand if you are not careful. I think the hinge screws holding to lid and seat together may be too tight and therefore cause this, but they are not user adjustable. Hopefully over time they will loosen up a bit. ... show more
