Slots in bolts are shallow. Resorted to using the old bolts because slot would not hold a screw driver. Couldn’t turn the bolt with it! Rubber washers and main gasket were fine.

    • ABSOLUTELY HEAVEN SENT
REALLY NOWHERE COULD I FIND THE PLUG WASHERS NEEDED FOR AMERICAN STANDARD TOILET TANKS--EVEN ON THEIR WEBSITE AND BIG BOX STORES! THEY ARE MADE IN TAIWAN AND ONLY SOLD ON AMAZON. I PUT EACH INTO THE TANK SCREW HOLES; PLACED FLAT METAL AND FLAT BLACK WASHERS ON EACH SCREW WHICH ARE MUSH BIGGER THAN THE TRADITIONAL MAKING THEM BETTER FIT. PLACED THE SCREWS/WASHERS INTO THE HOLES AND PRESSED DOWN. tIGHTEN EACH SIDE ALTERNATING. THE PLUG AND FLAT WASHERS MADE A COMPLETE SEAL, AND UNDERNEATH, PUT SAME BLACK AND METAL WASHERS, THEN SCREWED ON THE BIG SHORT NUTS. I INSTALLED NEW BLACK TANK SEAL, TOO. ALSO BOUGHT AN ADDITIONAL SET OF BIG SCREWS/WASHERS THAT HAVE AN ELONGATED 1.5" NUT! I KNOW! I COULDN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE FINALLY DESIGNED THEM. THEY ASSIST IN HOLDING THE NUT STILL WHILE USING THE SCREW DRIVER TO TIGHTEN. THE THREADS, HOWEVER, DON'T GO ALL THE WAY UP, SO USE 7/8" RATCHET TO TIGHTEN THE REST OF THE WAY. ** IT TOOK TRYING EVERY SIZE IN THE SET TO SUCCEED WITH A FIT, SO USE 7/8" FOR THESE NUTS. FINALLY A TOILET WITH NO TANK LEAKS: RUBBER PLUG, 2 RUBBER AND 2 METAL WASHERS FOR EACH SCREW. ... show more
