  • Old school, but functional
Pattern Name: Lawn Mower Style: 16-Inch, 5-Blade
Granted we only have a 300 square-foot lawn, but this is definitely the right tool for the job. I haven't messed with the adjustments, but so far it goes through our marathon II fescue like a hot knife through butter. On top of its cutting prowess, it provides great tactile and auditory fulfillment with the feel and sound of the whirling blades doing their job. If a small piece of mulch happens to get in the way, it only takes a few seconds to clear it, no big deal. Highly recommended should your needs match ours. ... show more

  • Cuts well - Pretty good workout
Pattern Name: Lawn Mower Style: 16-Inch, 7-Blade
Alrighty - It is a push reel mower - It is powered by your legs! So no complaning now that you actually have to push it. 1. Assembly - Okay I get it the instructions stink! - But come on people there is only like 3 bolts and a Lock washer to put on. Look at the pictures it is quite straight forward. 2. Height Adjustments - The wheels will come on the highest setting and I am not sure why they decided to do this as most people that buy a reel mower want to cut their grass low. - It will not go as low as a typical putting green but it will come close. Perhaps a green that is about ready to be mowed at 0.5" while a fresh cut putting green is closer to 0.25". - There are three slots on the mower for the wheels to connect to. As I said it comes on the highest setting (which is the lowest hole) Think of it this way if you lower the wheels you raise the mower to you want them on the highest hole for the bolt. In order to remove the wheels, you first need to remove the green hub caps on each side to expose the Nuts. The outside nuts on the wheels are 13mm and the inside bolts at 17mm so you will need one of each to remove and re-attach. Take care not to slip off the gears inside Might fell off but was not too hard to reset and attach back on. The Second way to change the height are the roller wheels - These some on the medium height setting. And with the wheels set to the lowest cut setting (position A in the directions) this is about 0.75" - move the roller adjustment to the top bolt hole on the mower for the lowest setting to get the 0.5" cut height. 3. Cut - It nice a clean like a sissor compared to the suction and rip from a standard lawn mower today. If you are trying to cut more than 30% off the blades of grass you will likely need multiple passes. 4. Ease of use - okay this is going to depend on what type of shape you are in and what you lawn is like when you start using it. The SHORTER you want the lawn the MORE OFTEN you will need to mow. Don't complain that it is hard to get you 2" grass to cut down to 0.5" you are asking too much of any mower and that would be cutting off 75% of the grass (which is bad for the grass) - you should strive for 30% at most. Therefore if you desire a 0.5" cut, then you should be cutting grass that is no longer than about .75" and since grass grows about 0.1 inch a day you would need to mow it every 2-3 days - most golf courses mow their greens every day. 5. Other Thoughts - My lawn is very mature and as such has a great deal of thatch near the soil. I am going to either rent of buy a dethatcher to clean a lot of this up. I am thinking that will allow the mower to cut lower with more ease. I will update my results on the review. Over all - It is what you are paying for - it is a manual drive reel mower that you push. The more out of shape you are and your lawn is the more work it is going to be. Once you get the lawn trained to grow low it will get easier. I have a section of lawn that I cut at the lowest setting on the traditional mower and that section this reel mower cut very well. Look for an update in a few weeks when I will add some Picts and video how to's. ... show more

  • Not hard to operate
Pattern Name: Lawn Mower Style: 16-Inch, 7-Blade
Wasn't too bad putting the handle together although I found the small metal clips impossible to get over the bolts where the handle attaches so I had to let that go and take my chances. Not too heavy to move around and my 7-blade cutter works pretty well. I don't put the clippings catcher on it, seems like it would be in my way and I'm pushing and turning it around faster without it. I let the clippings fall back into the lawn and they seem to just dry up and disappear. First time with a mower like this but I like it for ease of use and easy storage. ... show more

  • It's been awhile
Pattern Name: Lawn Mower Style: 16-Inch, 5-Blade
Haven't pushed a reel mower for 55 years, bought back memories. Works great pushes easy cuts well always starts never dies. I had trouble installing handle instructions are lame. Had my step son assemble for me. No points off I'm the worst assembler ever ever. Funny got low score of 4 for noise, can't imagine anything quieter. Recommend. Easy to store which I needed. ... show more

  • Works well
Pattern Name: Lawn Mower Style: 16-Inch, 5-Blade
I have a sloping rather small side yard where I couldn't get my power mower so I bought this push mower. It works well for my purpose and it's also a workout!

  • Don't waste your time and money
Pattern Name: Lawn Mower Style: 16-Inch, 7-Blade
This mower is a laugh, except you will have wasted $170 plus dollars. Spend $170 at a comedy club and it will be worth the laughs! This is not. If your patch of grass is not less than 10'×10', completely weed free, tiny tiny twig free you may as well cut it with a clipper on your hands and knees. The basket is teenie tiny itsy bitsy which actually doesn't really matter since the grass doesn't even fall in the basket anyways. This mower can't take the smallest birdnest twig so you have to make sure there is zero anything in your patch of grass or the blades get stuck. I thought this would be good for a flat narrow backyard, boy was I mistaken. Save yourself the frustration and go another route. ... show more

  • Effective American Lawn Mower
Pattern Name: Lawn Mower Style: 16-Inch, 7-Blade
The media could not be loaded. This American Lawn Mower performs well, efficiently cutting grass even in short distances due to its high blade rotation speed. For longer grass, especially over 10 inches, occasional passes may be needed, but after a couple of back-and-forths, most tall grass is successfully cut. Compared to gas engine mowers, it produces less noise, doesn't emit exhaust gases, and eliminates the need for an electric cord. It seems like mowing the lawn might become a future hobby. The Grass Catcher captures around 60%-70% of the grass, and while occasionally detaching during use, some improvements in this area would make it even better. The assembly was not too challenging, but clearer instructions, especially regarding where to attach the handle to the mower body, would be beneficial. Overall, a satisfactory product, and I'll provide updates if any issues arise during use. ... show more
