I upgraded this processor from an AMD quad-core I purchased maybe 11 years ago. The quad-core served me well through the years but with all the newest technology, software, apps, etc, I did notice my quad-core was taking longer to keep up. I read the reviews and this processor was priced fair at the time. I believe it was about $265 last year. I also had purchased the MSI Gaming motherboard, which bricked upon installation, and had to return it. I finally bought the MSI Unify. I purchased thermal paste, installed the AMD 3600 processor, mounted the motherboard in my old "Coolermaster" mid-tower case, installed new DDR4 G-Skill memory, installed a new M2 drive (The Unify motherboard has 3 slots for M2 drives), connected it to an old Corsair 850 PSU, hooked up all my peripherals, loaded my operating system and BAM. My system booted without any issues. I didn't have to update any BIOS because the Unify motherboard already came updated since it is an X570 motherboard. With the processor, motherboard, M2 drive combo, my system starts in 19 seconds. I can multitask with the AMD 3600. I purchase an MSI 5600XT video card which came with 2 games. I'm not a gamer but I did try the games and all I can say is WOW. The technology has come so far since my ATARI days, LOL. The video games are so realistic and the graphics are amazing. From time to time I allow my 6 yeard old son access to my system to play a few games and I have to pull him away from my desktop build. The AMD 3600 is a good processor. I JUST purchased the RYZEN 9 5900X for a new build. I'm planning on giving my son my AMD 3600 build for his first tower. Looking at the pics, yes my cables are everywhere. It's a 10-year-old case with 2 CD drives, 3 HHD drives, etc. I'm finally upgrading, LOL.

Overall, this thing is dope. I was building a new computer and wanted to do an AMD version, tired of Intel, and did a ton of research and this came as a combo. Overall, it is great. I run all my games very, very smoothly. I also paired it with a Radeon rx 5700 8gb gddr6 video card, and 32GB DDR4 RAM so obviously that helps. I do recommend anyone looking at this CPU, for only a little bit more you can get the AMD 7, which you can overclock and give you even better performance. I'm probably going to get that one just to increase the speed, but overall you cannot go wrong with these items.

Wish I could give this processor a better review, but EVERY motherboard out there is CRAP. While "fully supported" I have tried FIVE different motherboards- each with a different fail. Can't test this for gaming (or oculus) since I can't seem to get past POST. Maybe AMD should take a better lead in the QA that goes into boards that support their processors.....

I had to return the above combination Amazon suggest due to incapability of wrong components. The system froze on the first run. I lost more than 2 days trying to solve this problem, until I called the technical support and learn that the suggestion is incompatible. Why Amazon suggesting us things that don't work together?

I've always been an AMD guy and have been using them since socket 939 which was the first fastest dual core. Ryzen 5 3600 is only clocked at 4.2 at the moment and it is fast as hell. I haven't had the need to overclock it to it's limits yet. But, I will one of this days.
