I travel quite a bit for work, and I've been looking for a long, warm, winter coat heavy enough to handle cold days and nights in Chicago (and some other cold regions in the US), but not too heavy to carry around. And this coat ticks every box. I live on the Detroit River with a wonderful riverfront path that I visit two or more times a day with my dogs. It is mandatory that we go out at least twice a day to get to the local dog park. In the summer the temperatures can reach into the 90's but along the river it is much cooler. The payback is winter when the winds howl off the river, much stronger than in other parts of the city. It's brutal. My thick coated collies love it. I don't. I looked at dozens of long jackets with price points between 70$ and 1800$. Being comforatable and warm was the key. I was not too interested in waterproof as when it rains, my usual jackets work fine. I finally settled on the Amazon Basics because it seemed warm and leave it to Amazon Basics that it has all kinds of features, the number one being that it ran in big and tall sizes. I'm not tall but big and trying to work on that but suffice it to say that the price was excellent and performance so far as been superb. Of course, when the coat arrived it was still very cold and windy and it performed just as I had hoped. As a matter of fact, I was getting very warm as we took the elevator down 19 floors to get outside for our walk. Later that night I put on the coat and unzipped some very handy zippers so we could sit on the balcony and enjoy a full moon. Now we are in a warming trend with rain so I don't need the coat but I'm no longer apprehensive about going out when an Alberta Clipper or even worse, one of those polar vortex cycles hits this part of th world. Thank you, Amazon for such a great and affordable product.

Moved to Chicago from a warm state where i never experienced a real winter, and i really wouldn’t be able to commute everywhere on foot without it The value is great for what you’re getting, it looks more expensive than what it is and love the deep pockets. Perfect for the really cold days. I will say it is slightly more bulky than i expected, but i think that adds to the warmth factor

First off, this coat is by most standards very nice and an exceptional value. The color is bold and striking. It's very warm, and when you wear it, it's like you're surrounded by a soft blanket. The hood fits well and pocket design is fine. My only real complaint is that the style is perhaps too bold for me--it's longer than I was thinking it would be, falling below my knees, a somewhat feminine cut similar to what you might see with a fur coat. I've only worn it a few times, and more than one acquaintance has already asked if I had borrowed my wife's coat! I'm on the short side so maybe this cut works better for taller men, where the length would be less pronounced. I would also recommend getting this in black instead of blue for a less bold look. I considered returning it, but honestly it's so comfortable and warm that I can live with the occasional question or curious look.

Big Tall Gal here. 5'11" in height. The coat I ordered was a TALL, it is warm and not too heavy in weight. The blue color is fab! ( I'm knitting a yellow scarf to wear with it.) The coat runs true to size, sleeves are nice and long, a little past the wrist, with an inner cuff to keep out the wind. The length of the coat is past my knees, (which is wonderful for Midwest winters). I am going to have darts put in the coat in the back. This is a big and tall men's coat so I will have it taken in in the waist, but it fits my hips with ease for comfortable sitting, and has side zippers on the bottom for easy climbing in and out of the truck. I have tried coats for plus size women, I've not encountered one with as good a fit, coverage and provide warmth. I love mine!

It insulates very well, like wearing a thick blanket. The fuzz lined pockets are a treasure! So helpful to warm cold hands. I got the largest size (6X Large Tall), it fits me easily and I am the largest person I know. It covers well below the waist so I don't feel a cold draft of air sneaking in where my shirt and pants meet. It is a good wind blocker. I used it one winter so far and it is in excellent condition, ready for next winter. I do wish the sleeve cuffs could be buckled or something like that, so I can keep them wrapped snug around my wrists so my forearms don't get chilled. Small problem only. Really worth buying.
