I would say the coat runs bigger than the size chart says, and the large is more of a size 10-12, like you would find in stores in boys section. This is the best quality coat for an amazing price! My son is 8 and loves to run around even in the winter outside. We had this coat in a smaller size and I bought it again this year because it has an extra closer around the waist to keep the coat tight for skiing or playing in the snow, it is thick but easy to move around in, and it lasted through 2 winters without any wear & tear the last time I bought it!
