I thought I would really like this lamp based on the reviews and pictures provided by previous reviewers. I personally find that this lamp is very strange looking unless it is turned on. If I walked into someone's home and just saw it sitting there unlit in the daytime, I wonder what in the heck it was. Is it some type of really ugly glass vase with a knob on the front? Is it a cremation urn? I just don't find it attractive any way I look at it whether it is on or off. I also don't like that it is now $48 cheaper than what I paid for it just 2 weeks ago. That being said, it is well made. The switch is easy to use which is a welcome relief from all those unhandy inline switches on the cord. I was going to use it in our main room but have decided to put it in a back room where company would never see it. I should have kept the box so I could return it.

I really think they should add dimming to this lamp. I had my hopes up when I saw the rotary switch, but it's an on off design that continues to change in a 360 clockwise direction. The base is rectangular with a bulb socket in the middle the glass shade just sits on the base and there is a 2 inch hole in the top for air exchange. It doesn't come with a bulb, but could be used with non dimmable bulbs of any kind with the traditional standard screw in base. As I mentioned it has a rotary switch in the middle of the front of the base, and it is easy to snap the light on or off as desired. This would have been a nice product to have a dimmer, but that is left out. The glass is somewhat heavy so be careful where you place this, knocking it down on a hard floor would probably cause it to shatter. Recommended if you like the decor.

I got this lamp with the intention of putting it on the table beside my sofa, thinking it would ideal when I want to leave a dim light on for the dogs if we're leaving the house at night. (Yes, I do that sort of thing. No judging here!) I thought it would also be perfect for those evenings when I don't want a lot of bright light on in the house. When it arrived, my husband took it out of the box, and said, "Mine!" And so it was placed on the nightstand on his side of the bed. The smoked glass shade is quite cool. It changes appearance depending on the amount and type of light hitting it. At times it's almost like a mirror, and at other times it's completely clear. We have it in a corner where not much sunlight hits, so it doesn't change a lot there. The photo on the left is during daylight and the photo on the right is at night. The top of the glass shade is completely open. That's my only complaint, because I think about all the dust settling in that I'll have to clean. But it's really pretty, so I'll live with the dust. The bulb is an amber light. It's soft and there's minimal glare. This isn't bright enough for a reading lamp, but it's perfect for ambiance. The switch on the base is a simple on/off twist. Overall, this has an artistic flare that adds to any decor.

I begin with a chuckle in regard to this lamp. I assembled it incorrectly, due to the ridiculous "simple" picture instructions. All I really needed was an actual picture of the lamp... but there was not picture on the outer box. After reading what another reviewer wrote, I recognize that the hole I had at the top was actually for the bottom and the bulb base goes through it (after unscrewing the sleeve on the outlet). The top is fully open. (I've included two pics to demonstrate this). This is clearly a "mood lighting" lamp. I had obtained it (through the Vine program) with the idea that it would be enough for a reading lamp on my daughter's lampstand. I like lower-lighted lamps for evening reading, as it works well with orienting yourself towards sleep. However, this isn't quite enough light for that. I won't give it a lower rating though for this, as it does not advertise itself as a reading lamp. The item did arrive with the on/off knob not functioning/fitting correctly. I will have to figure out how to make this work, or just leave it off.

Beautiful and classy. Just replaced our child’s table lamp and couldn’t be happier. Has added a very elegant feel to the room with a very soft glow. Loved the design and how easy and fun it is to turn on, simple soft twist of the large front knob gets it done. Just wished the glass connected to the base however it just sits on top but the base material is not shinny/slippery and the glass is pretty hefty so it doesn’t move. Overall a great product and it comes with a nice old school long filament bulb but made of LED which saves energy.

I wasn't sure what to expect of this Stone & Beam Modern Table Lamp (black with smoked glass) but once I had it out and put together, I have heart-eyes for it. It is so simple and yet so striking. My picture doesn't represent it properly and I am trying to find a good spot for it so it can be appreciated. It literally takes 4 steps to put it together. Unscrew the piece where the bulb will sit; then slide the glass over it; screw the piece back in to hold the glass; and then put the bulb (provided with item) in. Then turn it on and enjoy. The glass is a good weight. The base is sturdy. I really like the bulb that was provided with its warm light. I like the design as well. It has a clean modern line but the smoked glass with its curved edges softens it out. This is a really good looking table lamp.

This is an elegant glass lamp that creates a very ambient kind of light that would be perfect for living room, bed room, den, etc. The glass portion of the lamp is a very heavy and tinted glass. That combined with the colored filament of the lightbulb makes for a unique quality of light. The assembly instructions were a little odd (just pictagrams), but we figured it out after a few minutes. I would consider this an elegant and classy addition to any room where you want accent lighting.

This is a strikingly beautiful lamp. I put it in the corner next to the stairs, so that if anybody gets up at night, they can see where they are going without being blinded by harsh overhead lighting. This lamp creates the perfect balance between understated lighting and shadows. This is a high-quality decorative piece that will enhance a modern decor.
