We set up this phone so we can answer calls on landline or either of our two cell phones with the same handset. Overall setup isn't too bad, but there are separate instructions for setting up Smart Call Blocking, and they're complicated. Perhaps the hardest part of setup is deciding which of five "Profile" settings you want to use. There are options on how to handle unknown, blacklisted and other calls, but not every combination is available. Carefully read the description of each profile before choosing. One drawback, though not the fault of this system directly, is that your cell phones may send incoming calls to this unit without doing their own call blocking first. It's a common problem with any computerized system - you can't usually choose the order in which programmed rules are applied. On balance, we found this phone and answering system useful. My last V-Tech unit lasted for 13 years until I ran out of charging stations and realized there were better and more energy efficient units out there. So far this does the job and although I don’t need to have them last as long I am confident in how this system interfaces with my iPhone devices. Still learning the menu system at present so I might not be able to answer technical questions just yet. ... show more

This product has really good range, and good feel to buttons. When they read the phone numbers calling, however, it can be a little inaudible while when they ring it can be very loud. Despite this, i really enjoy this product.

    • My First Impression

1. This has the potential to be a very useful phone in dealing with unwanted nuisance phone calls. 2. Unfortunately, this phone has too many problems that VTech is aware of but fails to address. 3. The phone is somewhat complicated to setup, but reading the instructions completely and taking your time will be very beneficial for a satisfactory setup. 4. Setting up your "Allowed List" is important. It is slow and painstaking if you have a lot of people to add to this list. 5. Unfortunately, you cannot transfer "Allowed List" names and numbers to the "Directory List" or vice versa. BIG DESIGN FLAW BY VTECH! Yes you can sync this phone with your smart phone. I have hundreds of contacts in my phone. It took a very long time to download, but the contacts were all messed up and I had to enter the ones I wanted individually, but then the problems continued. READ ON. 6. I have an issue that has occurred several times . My "Directory List" will be totally deleted. VTech is aware of this problem, but offers no solution other than resetting the entire phone by unplugging the base and removing the battery from each handset. THIS DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. Another issue is when I add a new name and number to the "Directory List" I get a confirmed "Saved" message, but the name and number are not there. The "Directory" will be totally empty. 7. Another issue I have is when an unknown caller goes through the "Home Screening" process and and I am not home to answer the call, the call fails to go to the answering machine. I potentially miss an important call. 8. When using the speaker phone the volume level is not as loud as my older Vtech phone. 9. The Bluetooth connects easily to both my Android and I phones. The sound quality is just okay. Make sure your smart phone is close to the VTech base station if you want to answer a cell phone call on an extension phone that is in another room or on another level of your home. 10. Customer service is hit or miss depending on who you get. They do not want to refund your money. They want you to pay for return shipping if they send a replacement phone. 11. Callers in your "Blocked Calls" list will get a message telling them the party is not receiving calls from that number and to hang up. The phone will still ring one time. In my opinion, the phone should not ring if a call is blocked. 12. The phone will ring one time for all calls that go through the "Home Screening" process. 13. In other words, the phone will always ring at least one time regardless if the call is blocked or being screened. 14. Bottom Line: The phone has some good features, but the problems out weigh the good. I am stuck with this phone because of the short return window. You may not find out about the problems with this phone in the first 30 days. I cannot recommend this phone. ... show more

    • Great Robo Call Blocking

Many people are disconnecting their land-line phones due to obnoxius Robo Calls. This is the first phone designed to effectively eliminate Robos. I have to keep my land line for my security/fire protection system. So here is a phone with five different methods/schemes for thwarting Robos. My favorite is the method that requires for calleres to state their name AND press the # sign BEFORE their call causes a ring! Of course the robo calling eaquipment (at least for now can't do that). So my house is now SO QUIET. Note that you can designate numbers that ring right through without any scanning and that there are other modes that either direct all unrecognized calls to the answering machine or let them ring through as well. I love it. VTech is the BEST! Well Almost. I purchased the 5 phone system and wanted to at a sixth. I couldn't get the system to register the sixth phone. I read on the internet that it accommodated up to 8 phones, however that must be a mistake. In any event -- a great choice. ... show more

We got this for the call scree feature, but we’re really disappointed in the voice announcements. No better than 10 years ago! Half the time we can’t understand what the machine voice is saying! Grrrrr!
