Most tap water is virtually undrinkable--but a good water filter eliminates the need for costly bottled water. OEM filters in this form factor run upwards of $30 each. That's hardly a crippling expense for most, and still cheaper than bottled water, but $4 a filter is quite the discount. So the question is, are you getting the same quality with this 3-pack? If you're used to OEM filters, you'll notice some cosmetic differences, mainly the colors. But size-wise, they're identical, and both have the same o-ring seals on the top. These filters fit exactly the same in my refrigerator, installation is a snap, and after running the appropriate volume of water through the filter, water appears to be equally clear with an equally clean taste. Taste is every bit the equal of bottled water. So they're the same as the OEM filters, right? Well, not exactly. These filters are certified to meet NSF42 standards, but the OEM filters conform to the more rigorous NSF53 and 401 standards--meaning they are guaranteed to eliminate more dangerous contaminants. Do you need the additional protection? That comes down to your local water quality--but if you want maximum peace of mind, you need to pony up for the much more costly OEM filters. Personally, I'm comfortable with the cleansing quality of these discounted filters. Any differences between OEM and these filters cannot be determined by unscientific taste testing.

We have hard water, and this filter has to work hard to clean it up. It did well. Seven days in and testing the water taste to our faucet filter, it is doing its job. Calcium seems to be our nemesis with out filters. Reviewing this Amazon brand with the Fridgidaire filter, the quality seems comparable with the filter fibers, and may become our regular replacement. The wife isn't complaining about the taste of the water through the fridge, so it must be doing a good job. And a reminder, put a note on the front of the fridge of the date you changed the filter. This will help with ordering replacements.

These look, fit and so far seem to function just like the original manufacturers filters. Water looks clean and tastes the same. I believe these are rated a bit lower for filtering out particles and contaminants than the OEM which likely accounts for the lower price. Overall I am pleased with these filters performance.

These are the exact same size and fit just as well as the Frigidaire brand filters. I typically rotate and swap out filters before their stated replacement date so lower cost alternatives make more sense then disposing or replacing expensive filters. A few pieces of charcoal floated out when flushed. Other than that the water tastes the same as the other filter it replaced. Great value for the cost!

Each of the individually wrapped filters (which is nice for storing to keep them clean) came in a sturdy cardboard box. I removed the used filter from the refrigerator and compared it next to the new one from Amazon. It looked exactly the same in height, circumferance and had the small "O" ring at the top for sealing. I replaced it into the holding cartridge in the refigerator. It seems to fit fine. I did notice that the water stream is not as strong as with the old filter. The new filter may have a more dense filter so the flow is restricted but it works.

This replacement filter was identical to my previous one (White). The hardest part was unscrewing the plastic cover, it was really screwed on tight and I just had to use brute force to unscrew it. Each filter has an instruction sheet included but I watched a youtube video before starting the job. The replacement took less than 5 minutes and when finished, I filled and discarded the first 8 glasses of water that ran through to be sure the water was looking clear and tasting good. I also tossed the existing ice and washed the container out and I'll probably throw out the first batch of ice that's dispensed since sometimes you get a little bit of charcoal flecks showing in the ice cubes after a filter replacement. It was a simple job and at a cost of $4 per filter you won't regret buying these.

These fit just fine, but do not include the little stickers for labeling when they were last changed. I can always use a piece of masking tape and a permanent marker, but it won't look as neat. Given how messy the fridge is...probably not a problem at all, haha!
