It works well! As an engineer, I appreciate the design and the craftsmanship. My hair is over 8" long, and I bought this to style my hair when it isn't braided. I like to let my scalp chill for a week or two before I get it braided again, and my thick, coarse hair looks a little wild at times! Hoping this helps it look cool(er). The only issue I had was with my hair getting snagged in the modular lock points. I've managed this for now by putting tape over them, but plan to design and 3D print a more efficient cover soon. **Updating my review from 4 to 5 stars, cause I just threw away the curl sponge and saw how many hairs it ripped out of my scalp. Glad I switched!

I absolutely adore this product! My son has very thick hair, and believe me when I say that we’ve tried a variety of different products to address the needs of his hair at varying lengths. This is a one shop stop so to speak. It already has 3 different attachments for whichever length my son has is hair cut at the time, it’s got the travel case for storage and trips, a complementary pomade and brush with the order (for a limited time so hop on it) that works wonders, and a dope card with a message from the owner. All in all, the quality, versatility, and overall care and thought that went into the product is apparent. Additionally, the videos and suggestions that the company provides - via links- helped me figure out what products work for my son’s hair to get different results. I highly recommend this product. We’ve taken the long road trying to get here, but we’ve arrived at the best!

The Twist it Up comb is revolutionary in natural black hair care. This is a great product and a great value~worth every penny. The comb is easy to use and works very well. I’m so pleased with how my hair looks after I use the comb. The comb comes with three different sizes (inserts) to create various size coils. Such a great little tool. It works perfectly for my sons hair whether it’s grown out or cut down I simply switch out the grids. It’s so worth the money and my little boy looks so handsome!!

Easy to use and love the carrying case it came with and works a whole lot better then the sponge I was using and the smell of the wax is really good if you like a fruity scent that is easily a 5 out 5 rating.

This item does twist the hair and is very sturdy, but it desperately needs a handle. Otherwise, it's hard to hold and control when you hit to the crown of my hair. Another expensive item in my junk drawer, but I will update my review, if you add a handle.

This thing is so awkward and uncomfortable to wield! I'm really curious to how this thing has been iterated on 4 times, and no one's ever thought "Maybe we can make the handle better?". No matter how you try to hold it, it doesn't feel good. Finger through hole: weird; Grip a side: weird; Straighten index-finger over handle & pinch w/ thumb: weird; Claw-grip the whole thing: weird (and I have big hands, would imagine not even an option for people with smaller hands). This thing will make you feel like you've been presented with a pop quiz you weren't prepared for. On top of that, while it definitely does work, I find it doesn't provide the same definition of twist compared to my generic sponge brush, even with experimenting with the different sizes. I'm guessing this is because my sponge brush is spiked, so it has some depth/grooves that Twist It Up simply doesn't. Some people may actually prefer softer defined twists, but I am not one of them. Honestly, I kinda regret my purchase. I am gonna keep it though and see it if grows on me with more time.
