    • Its all in the Mesh Material!
As with all Mesh chairs, the real testament to the quality of the chair is the material the mesh is made of. The mesh in this chair is firm and supportive and will last for years without the "sagging" effect. I can say this because the last chair I had was made of this exact material and mesh pattern and that chair lasted me 9 years before I had to replace with this one due to the mesh starting to sag. Another thing I like about this chair is the front of the seat where your knee bends, is padded underneath, so in the event you are like me and sometimes like to cross your legs, or just bring it up (yes i know thats not good posture, but its a reality most of us face), the cushion makes it comfortable. There are 2 minor drawbacks (not enough to deduct a star), and they are the headrest which does not position forward and the armrest, which when u put any weight on it, will push the backrest forward. Even given the drawbacks, the quality of this chair is top notch and for the price you pay, makes it 5 stars in my book. ... show more

    • Great mesh chair for the price; tilt lock is only for sitting up straight
Looking at the prices for high back, mesh back AND seat office chairs, I wasn't expecting much out of this Amazon Basics model given it is in the lower range. I was very surprised at how much I like it however. For the price, features, and build quality, I'm happy with this purchase! If it helps with your own comparison, when considering the pros and cons below, I am 5ft 10in/178cm tall and weigh 200 lbs/91 kg Pros: - as comfortable as the expensive mesh office chair I had in my employer's office - very easy to assemble, took around 10 minutes. The box it came in is sturdy enough to act as a workbench during assembly - all adjustments are easy to get to while seated - though the included folding armrests are attached to the back, I noticed on the bottom of the seat there are some attachment points for armrests. I would guess you could find some that would attach there if you were happier with armrests attached to the seat instead. Cons: - as others have pointed out, there is only one tilt lock position - sitting straight up. When you disengage it to recline, there are no other locking positions to hold a recline position. That said, brand new you will find a tilt tension that will probably mitigate this. I expect this to get weaker over time though. I actually like rolling under my (high) desk and fully tilting back and staying that way, so it's not really a "con" for *me* - but I wanted to reiterate what others have said in case it is for anyone else - as with most office chairs, the included nylon wheels suck. I replaced them with flashy rubber light-up wheels I had on hand right away! Other notes: The armrests are attached to the back, which lets them move with it when you recline. I like this, but it is different than having them attached to the base. When you put your hands on them to get up or down, you put your weight on them, and they will move since the back moves a bit doing this. If you don't find this comfortable, there are attachment points on the bottom of the seat that would let you attach armrests to it instead, and those shouldn't move when weight is applied. I'm not sure what armrests would be compatible with those attachment points, but I think with a little research you could find some. ... show more

Overall I am very impressed coming from a faux leather/durabond chair. Much more comfortable and seems very well built. Weighs a good amount but assembly is super simple. Had my 9 year old assemble it and he was done pretty quickly. Included allen wrench isn't total garbage like usual. I like the features and really like that the arm rest fold up, this means I can park it under my desk and leave it when not in use. Back support is solid and very ergonomic yet comfy. Overall I got this on sale 50% off so I feel very good about the purchase, not sure I would pay normal price, but I also don't know what these sell for normally, this just popped up and I snagged one. I have to tell you how impressed I am with this chair. Six screws and 5 minutes and it was all together. You would never know this was a "Amazon Basics" product. So simple to put together (OK, I used power tools, but still)!!! What impressed me the most is the comfort of this chair. I am in heaven just sitting in it. I actually bought me and hubby 2 other office chairs here and we have had them less than a week, and I find them so uncomfortable. I ordered myself this one and what a difference from the other. I actually just bought hubby one and I guess we will donate the other two new chairs. GET THIS CHAIR!!! - UPDATE 2/15/24 - still in LOVE with this chair. I ordered this chair to replace my very basic, broken office chair I've had since I was a teenager. I had specific requirements when shopping and was pleased with the product images and the majority of reviews. First time I ordered it the box was crushed but I didn't think much of it and assembled it with little issue. It was easy and straightforward with most of the pieces already put together. However when I went to sit in it and lean back, imaging all the work I could get done in comfort I discovered I was leaning to the right. Lo and behold the back right frame peice is broken completely through and I didn't notice till I sat in it. Return process was easy and straight forward, UPS came and picked it up next day while another had already been shipped. Today when my new one arrived the box was open which the mail carrier said was like that when he got it, with a part hanging out. Box was again crushed and missing sections of tape from transport. The frame and the rest of the chair was undamaged this time however it was missing peices. No hardware/screw pack, no hydralic lift cylinder and no caster wheels. I have requested a refund and will be going to Office Max or similar rather than ordering online again. ... show more
