A great alternative to more expensive options!
I spend a lot of time in my chair. 8 hour work days - then, several more hours at night working on audio production. I've bought several expensive office chairs over the years - but this is my favorite so far, without having to cough up a cool grand for a Herman Miller. My favorite feature is the flip-up arms. I can easily play guitar in this chair without having to perch on the edge and have the arms poking into the guitar. The arm rests are very hard (literally had bruised elbows after a couple weeks), so I purchased some foam pads that strap on. Great lumbar support, the headrest can be removed if you feel you don't need it (I rarely do). Love the tilt function! It was very easy to assemble in about 20 minutes. And it's reasonably lightweight if you need to carry it upstairs or something. The mesh seat and back are great for staying cool and your skin doesn't stick to it like faux leather. I've used this one for about a year now and the seat webbing is starting to sag a little, but I think I can get a couple more years out of it before replacing it. ... show more

Great mesh chair for the price; tilt lock is only for sitting up straight
Looking at the prices for high back, mesh back AND seat office chairs, I wasn't expecting much out of this Amazon Basics model given it is in the lower range. I was very surprised at how much I like it however. For the price, features, and build quality, I'm happy with this purchase! If it helps with your own comparison, when considering the pros and cons below, I am 5ft 10in/178cm tall and weigh 200 lbs/91 kg Pros: - as comfortable as the expensive mesh office chair I had in my employer's office - very easy to assemble, took around 10 minutes. The box it came in is sturdy enough to act as a workbench during assembly - all adjustments are easy to get to while seated - though the included folding armrests are attached to the back, I noticed on the bottom of the seat there are some attachment points for armrests. I would guess you could find some that would attach there if you were happier with armrests attached to the seat instead. Cons: - as others have pointed out, there is only one tilt lock position - sitting straight up. When you disengage it to recline, there are no other locking positions to hold a recline position. That said, brand new you will find a tilt tension that will probably mitigate this. I expect this to get weaker over time though. I actually like rolling under my (high) desk and fully tilting back and staying that way, so it's not really a "con" for *me* - but I wanted to reiterate what others have said in case it is for anyone else - as with most office chairs, the included nylon wheels suck. I replaced them with flashy rubber light-up wheels I had on hand right away! Other notes: The armrests are attached to the back, which lets them move with it when you recline. I like this, but it is different than having them attached to the base. When you put your hands on them to get up or down, you put your weight on them, and they will move since the back moves a bit doing this. If you don't find this comfortable, there are attachment points on the bottom of the seat that would let you attach armrests to it instead, and those shouldn't move when weight is applied. I'm not sure what armrests would be compatible with those attachment points, but I think with a little research you could find some. ... show more

Well built. On par with Herman Miller's Aero chair

Well built. On par with Herman Miller's Aero chair for a much lower price. Of course HM chairs are probably built better for the price, but this Amazon chair is flawless so far. I've had it for 6 months and the only complaint is the anavoidable dust that collects. This chair is awesome and a steal for the price. ... show more

Its all in the Mesh Material!
As with all Mesh chairs, the real testament to the quality of the chair is the material the mesh is made of. The mesh in this chair is firm and supportive and will last for years without the "sagging" effect. I can say this because the last chair I had was made of this exact material and mesh pattern and that chair lasted me 9 years before I had to replace with this one due to the mesh starting to sag. Another thing I like about this chair is the front of the seat where your knee bends, is padded underneath, so in the event you are like me and sometimes like to cross your legs, or just bring it up (yes i know thats not good posture, but its a reality most of us face), the cushion makes it comfortable. There are 2 minor drawbacks (not enough to deduct a star), and they are the headrest which does not position forward and the armrest, which when u put any weight on it, will push the backrest forward. Even given the drawbacks, the quality of this chair is top notch and for the price you pay, makes it 5 stars in my book. ... show more

Comfortable but the parts are not durable.
You get what you pay for. I have 2 of these. The older one no longer holds pressure and slowly lowers to the floor overt the course of about 30 minutes. The seat recline is also broken to where it does not hold the back up. I've had it about 2 years. I do use it a lot and am 200 lbs. It has not held up well. The newer one is still working well. I've had it about 6 months. Over all the chair is comfortable and keeps cool but does not hold up to constant use. ... show more

Returned Twice For Missing or Broken Parts

I ordered this chair to replace my very basic, broken office chair I've had since I was a teenager. I had specific requirements when shopping and was pleased with the product images and the majority of reviews. First time I ordered it the box was crushed but I didn't think much of it and assembled it with little issue. It was easy and straightforward with most of the pieces already put together. However when I went to sit in it and lean back, imaging all the work I could get done in comfort I discovered I was leaning to the right. Lo and behold the back right frame peice is broken completely through and I didn't notice till I sat in it. Return process was easy and straight forward, UPS came and picked it up next day while another had already been shipped. Today when my new one arrived the box was open which the mail carrier said was like that when he got it, with a part hanging out. Box was again crushed and missing sections of tape from transport. The frame and the rest of the chair was undamaged this time however it was missing peices. No hardware/screw pack, no hydralic lift cylinder and no caster wheels. I have requested a refund and will be going to Office Max or similar rather than ordering online again. ... show more

Not perfect, but not bad
I had my heart set on a full mesh office chair and liked the idea this has the arms attached to the back vs seat, so when you recline you don't loose that feature. Most other options are attached to the seat. Downside is if you try and push yourself up to rearrange in the chair, the pressure on the arms forcea the back forward (very awkward). Plus the seat attached ones give you better desk/keyboard flexibility, but I still prefer this style. I tried a similar chair from Sam's that had a mesh back and foam seat but really disliked it. For the cost (got it for a deal), it's a great value and keeper. Most other options (even on sale) are much more expensive! I didn't try many, but maybe the price reflects better quality?? Installed 4 roller blade style wheels, but the ones that come with it really aren't bad. Honestly I still get stuck with the new ones time to time. ... show more
