  • Does its job very well
Size: 50 Pint Style Name: Standard
This dehumidifier really removes water! Not uncommon for us to have to empty it three times a day in hot, humid weather although our house is air-conditioned. It's easy to use although I can't address the timer function since we don't use it. Like all dehumidifiers of this design, it takes a bit of experience to be able to empty it easily. Given its size and weight, it's fairly easy to roll it around. To my mind its weight indicates a fairly robust compressor. It is not quiet (especially with the fan on high) but it's not unacceptably noisy. We've only had it for one summer so I can't address its durability. I'll update this review in a couple of years--or sooner if it stops working! ... show more

  • Made a Huge Difference in the Air Humidity of Our Home
Size: 35 Pint Style Name: Standard
While most homes tend to be extra dry during the winter months, our house seems to be ultra humid. With our windows shut to keep the cold out, our house seems to hold in all moisture, even despite having bathroom and kitchen fans on. Our humidity goes up to almost 75% according to our hydrometer, and even after opening all the windows during the day, we still wake up to moisture on the windows. The Amazon Basics Dehumidifier did a great job of dropping the humidity in our home and collecting all the extra moisture from the air. The water collected in the collection bin, was easy to empty out, and I could control everything at the push of the button on the top of the unit. You can set the humidifier to run for a specified amount of time, until a specific humidity is reached, or just as long as you need it to drop the humidity in a room. It operates about as loud as a fan, and the air that comes out is just slightly heated, but not so much that it warms a room. It works effectively enough to keep our home's moisture levels in check, and while it's a bit heavy, it has earned it's place in our home to keep our air a bit drier and windows and walls clear of moisture. ... show more

  • Holy cow does this thing work well!
Size: 35 Pint Style Name: Standard
Where I live it's crazy humid, but there will be plenty of times where the temperature hovers around 70, so neither the AC or heat will turn on to help humidity levels. My humidity sensor in my home (and on this machine when I first turned it on) was at 68%. My house is a 1,700 sf two story. Within 3 hours the humidity dropped to 50% and I emptied the reservoir, it was already half full! The fan does make normal fan noise, but not a loud mechanical noise. You probably won't want in in a room you're occupying if you're trying to have a conversation or watch TV (but I actually like the white noise of the fan if I'm working in my office or reading). That said, despite the fact that this thing is huge, the wheels are good quality and it's super easy to move from room to room. Obviously it does a better job on my first floor (where I have it plugged in) than my second, but I've found that if I just turn on the fan circulation of my AC unit for a half hour or so while this is running, it really drops the humidity in the upstairs as well. 100% would recommend and buy again. ... show more

  • Works well, but hot, a bit loud, and sensitive. And errors in manual
Size: 35 Pint Style Name: Standard
Bought in summer 2020. Flooding made me read the manual again. Discovered surprises like an impossible amount of space for this to cover, and suffocation risk. Chatted with Technical Support, and they told me that there is NO SUFFOCATION RISK. And that the machine is great for small and medium rooms, small apartments, and smallish basements. NOT for impossible, 2,500-square-foot rooms. They reported both errors to teams that will correct the manual and this ad. Meantime, it works really well in a medium sized basement room that is maybe 10x10 or 12x12. And it easily dries the whole small apartment. But it is HOT and a bit loud for our sensitive hearing. And the buttons have pictures but no words and some are impossible to guess, so you have to memorize them or keep the manual. And the buttons are flat, which makes them easy to clean, but hard to find and use. Also, the top is flat but flimsy, and it isnt attached well. So even though it invites setting something down while you check the humidity level, you cannot rest anything on it for even a moment. Make sure you read the manual because there is a filter that needs care pretty often, even besides emptying the bucket. Bucket for this model holds 2 gallons, and machine can remove at least one gallon every 2 hours, depending on settings, humidity, room-home size, and air temp. Summer 2023, it is 3 years old and still working well. But i thought i heard a buzzing-ringing noise from the compressor, and felt a drumming kind of vibration, so i chatted with Technical Support again. They said noises like this are often normal as it ages. Plus, i found that noises nearby can affect how it sounds, or carry the noise in weird ways. So if you hear buzzing or ringing, try listening again with nearby fans and things off. Then contact Technical Support in case something serious is going wrong. Technical Support also said these machines are very sensitive, so we found that moving it a foot to one side, off a tiny dip in the floor, made it stop shaking so hard, and now it just vibrates normally for an older machine. Good luck. Be safe and well. ... show more
