Been using this Amazon Basics 50-pint dehumidifier steadily for 3 weeks, and it is performing admirably on all accounts. Fairly quiet, really pulls the moisture out of the air, dependable, easy to empty and very easy to operate. I am considering purchasing another identical unit to keep as a back-up, should one be needed. Can't speak right now to energy efficiency. Appearance is, well, it looks very much like a dehumidifier!

Easy setup and operation. Ran units (2) in auto mode for 5 hrs and collected about a quart in both units. Dropping humidity to 47% from 65%. Quite satisfied with its effectiveness, noise is not an issue for me. Excellent space coverage considering size of unit. Unsure about quality and durability.

The button to set the desired humidity level is awful. It is very soft touch and does not immediately respond. The directions say that you set the desired humidity in blocks of 5 percentage points with one touch and it and then it will take a few seconds to display on the lighted read-out. Well, it doesn't take just a few seconds. There is no audible sound after you have pushed the button that idicates that your desired humidity level has registered. The button is not very responsive at all. Sometime it takes and other times it doesn't. I don't know if mine is a damaged one or is malfunctioning. Ironically, the directions say to keep the unit upright at all times or it could affect its function. (It's the same with a refrigerator.) When it was delivered, I found it lying down on the porch.... despite the fact that the box was labeled to keep it upright. It was so easy to set the desired humidity on my old one (frididaire). It immediately responded by adjusting the lighted readout so you knew that it was working and doing what you wanted it to do. Not so with this Amazon one.

Conveniently, after the warranty ended, the dehumidifier would freeze up and develop ice on the back of the machine. I have ensured that the temperature in the room is not the cause, I've kept up with cleaning the filter and ensuring the back of the machine is also clean. I have also followed the recommended placement and the issue still persists. I will not be able to get my money back because, as previously stated, this conveniently falls outside of the warranty. I originally purchased this as a replacement for an older Amazon Basics Dehumidifier; I foolishly assumed I could continue to trust the brand. If you want a device that will work for 1 year and a few days, by all means buy this product. It's a great one-year rental. If you want to spend $200+ and expect something that works for several years. Look elsewhere.

Great dehumidifier. Well worth the extra money to get a large freestanding unit. It’s a real workhorse and it pulls out anywhere from 2 to 4 gallons of water a day. I live in the Gulf Coast so it’s really needed.

Others said there was damage but none here. the box was rough and only one strap left. Shippers are $¥&&¥d& g&&es. For those complaining about operation and small LEDs , get over it. the indicators are plenty big. the led for humidity is fine. you set it and leave it alone . there's no need to constantly fuss with it. set the humidity and walk away. done! for those whining about no hose for the drain pump, it's included in the box. Open your eyes. If there's any problems I will update. I bought extended warranty as well.

This is an exceptional dehumidifier. It's been run hard for the three weeks that I've owned it. And it's worked terrifically. I was pleasantly surprised because the reviews indicated a lot of negative comments. In fact, one reviewer indicated that CR rated it at a very low 35 on its performance scale. These points notwithstanding, I still decided to go ahead and buy it because of my positive prior experience with another Amazon Basics product (a Microcut Shredder). I'm glad that I bought it. It's performed better than my old Home Labs dehumidifier, which was very highly rated by CR a few years ago. I use it in my combined Laundry and Utility Room which is adjacent to a crawl space, so there's lots of humidity in these areas. The dew point has hovered in the 70s or tropical humidity since early July so it's been tested hard. It has passed with flying colors. The Control Panel is straightforward and intuitive. I run it on Continuous Fan so it only stops for the water tank to be emptied. The Humidistat is very accurate and maintains a comfortable setting. The Filter Alert Light is accurate and reliable. The Water Tank is more than adequate. The Wheels on it make it easy to move to other areas. I definitely would buy this dehumidifier again and I highly recommend it to prospective buyers. The only caveat at this point is whether it will continue to perform well in the long run. [As such, I will update this review at a future date.]
