Works well, affordable, and will shut itself down if it starts to overheat to save the motor. It will not run off of the can it came with, there is a safety switch, as well as a lock to prevent any accidental use. It shreds nice, although the can is small and needs to be emptied often if doing a larger shred project. Average noise, good quality, has held up nicely so far - better than some of the name brands I have gone through.

This is a very nice shredder. I opted for a higher sheet capacity and paid about $20 more but totally worth it for how smoothly and quickly this machine operates. So quiet and the small pieces self compress so there’s no wasted space in the trash bag. Also love that it has a swing up handle. Very pleased!

I have had this shredder for a year now. It has been great and I had no complaints until last week. DO NOT put your credit card where it says to. It jammed it up and just stopped completely. I was able to fix it after letting it sit for awhile and it works wonderful for paper again. But I will never make the mistake of putting a credit card in there again. Dogs hate it, it is noisy.

This review is actually for the 8 sheet shredder. It is showing 12, because I ordered a 12 before, but was sent the wrong one, and then got an 8, but still showing up as 12. Got this to replace another affordable paper shredder we had purchased at one of the office supply stores. It essentially broke itself into pieces. This is orders of magnitude better built. We decided to clean up several years of old papers and documents and the old one we had just wasn't up to the task. This one has gone through reams of papers without skipping a beat. Really love the crosscut too where the pieces are cut in both directions. One thing it didn't do though was shred our credit cards. We tried to shred one and it got maybe a quarter to a half inch in and stopped. Had a heck of time getting it back out too. Upon closer inspection, the inside/center of the card was solid metal. So, I don't really blame the shredder. While it may have possibly shredded the credit cards of old, these new chip cards may be something else entirely. That is my best guess as to why the center of the card was metal. I wouldn't recommend shredding just any old card in it.

You have to figure out how many pages you can put in at one time. I jammed it putting too many. Once you get that down it works great. The credit card slot works good as well. The container fills up quick but I need a smaller one for my space. Nice unit. Should have bought one years ago.
