  • Get a friend to help assemble -JK
Color: Slate Gray Style: Powder Coated
Easy to assemble and works as designed. I highly suggest you get a friend/kid/spouse to help with removing the blue protective film that is on the heat deflector plates at the top. 30 min installation total needed if it was not for, 40-min protective film removal process. So a little over an hour+ unless that friend is helping remove as you build. Directions are typical. Blister package parts and directions that don't match parts numbers on blister package. Not that many parts, so you can work through the pictures. ... show more

  • Too tall? Cut it down!
Color: Havana Bronze Style: Powder Coated
I bought this knowing I may have to return it as our deck is not tall enough for a standing heater. Well, my husband assembled it and decided it WAS possible to cut it down a few inches. The gas line is simply a hose and excess can be wrapped around the cylinder. Gotta think about it, but...... Can't rate it on heat output or distribution as its summer, 95°. But I KNOW it gets close to freezing here, and wintertime warmth will be. ... show more

  • Problem Solving Is A Must
Color: Slate Gray Style: Powder Coated
Yesterday evening after my wife and I assembled an entire 5 piece set of patio furniture in about 45 minutes I figured I could quickly assemble the heaters we had purchased here from the Ole Amazon. I figured it would be quick and simple. I opened the box, got out all the parts, laid everything out in an orderly fashion, and then grabbed the manual that came in the box with the heater. Opened the manual assuming I'd find the instructions on how to assemble. That's where things went sideways! After flipping through the manual pages several times I realized there are in fact ZERO instructions on the assembling of the heater. So I came to the Ole Amazon and confirmed after reading several other reviews there are in fact ZERO instructions. I thought as a backup plan...YouTube. Cause there's typically a YouTube video for everything. Nope. Not this time. The one video you want find on YouTube is how to assemble this heater and it's not there. So I grabbed the nuts and bolts set that came in packaging and stared at everything for a moment like it was a 50000 piece jigsaw puzzle, cause at this point that's exactly what it was. At least to me. 😉 So after about 2.5 hours, literally, not over exaggerating I had one heater assembled and working. I'll end this part by saying while I don't consider myself an everyday handyman, I do consider myself pretty capable. Especially when well informed instructions are provided. I also build, commission and startup large industrial facilities around the world. So surely a simple heater wouldn't take that long with need for a mechanical engineering doctorate degree. 🤣 Last slightly negative is the shrink wrap that is on the heat shield pieces is a pain to get off and a big time consumer as well. Not difficult, just time consuming. Now for the positive! So after figuring out the puzzle of a heater I'd purchased from Amazon, I got it all together and fired up. It fired up on the first time with ease and most certainly was kicking out at least the advertised 46,000 BTU of heat. I don't have any more at this time to add since I just got 1 of 2 heaters assembled and only used the 1 for about 15 minutes since it was almost midnight after assembling the 1 heater. I would recommend this product. With that recommendation I'd add patience and probably beer as a requirement. Beer will limit your frustration from having no assembly information and after a few beers patience won't matter as much. I'll follow-up with a review on functionality and longevity of the heaters after a little more usage. Good luck and may odds be ever in your favor! 😉 ... show more

  • Amazon seems to have fixed a few things
Color: Havana Bronze Style: Powder Coated
First of all, the assembly instructions start on page 32 or so. Why it doesn't give the parts list and then the instructions is anyone's guess, but they are there. I bought this heater even after reading the bad reviews because it was "used like new" from Amazon warehouse and a great price at almost 1/2 off a new one. Upon unpacking, I found no split tubing because it appears the manufacturer added a plastic ring at the bottom of the heating element which keeps that from happening. I also had no issue with burning paint, because mine doesn't have paint below the heating element, although the rest is the Brazilian bronze color. No dents or dings either, although the USPS made me go pick it up at the post office because it is too big for their trucks. I'd prefer Amazon not use the USPS in the future. BUT, and that's a big BUT, it is WAY TOO TALL. Like others, I ended up having to cut the pole that attaches to the heating element. It was as tall as the eave of my roof when I initially put it together. I'm wondering how anyone can feel heat from it if they are seated? So, I grabbed the hack saw and chopped about 8" off the pole. One review stated that he just left the second pole out of the build, but mine would not work that way as I couldn't get one pole inside the other without the second piece. 🤷♀️ The whole thing took me about 3.5 hours, including cutting the pole by hand with a hack saw, working alone...and I'm a 52 year old woman. I'll still need to find a way to bolt the two poles together since I had to cut off the screw holes. Pretty easy fix but time consuming. I'll get something to bolt it together soon because that's important. I filled it with landscaping pebbles rather than water or sand; no mess! So far, it has no propane leaks, it lit right away, and feels nice since it is closer to where we sit. It is a tad bit noisy, but it's just the propane flowing normally so that's not a complaint. I hope it continues to do well and lasts. I'll update if not. I will say that had I paid full price, I might be a bit more critical of the assembly experience, especially the height. Amazon had their manufacturer fix almost everything reviewers complained about. Now if they'll fix the height it will be even better. ... show more

Installation takes about 1 hr and it’s not that complicated. However, it feels flimsy. In fact, I knocked over one of the 2 units I purchased and it was totally destroyed. It goes through propane tanks pretty quickly, so it’s not cheap to operate.

  • An excellent value, and great looking too!
I purchased this particular patio heater after having considered a number of other ones on Amazon and other web sites. One of the reasons for purchasing this one was the availability of the Sable Brown color. Another factor was that we live in a very windy area, and I was concerned about the heater blowing over. Some units do not have the ability to weight the base with water or sand, but this one does. Assembly was very easy, but time consuming. Because of my concern for the unit tipping over in the wind, especially if the propane tank is nearing empty, I decided to fill the base with sand. Water would have been SO much easier, believe me, but sand is about 60% heavier by volume than water, so for me it was worth the effort. About the only negative comment I have concerning this unit is that the fill hole in the base could be larger to make sand filling easier. Just filling the base took me about an hour. I would have to use a small cup to scoop up sand from a bag and then try to get it in the small hole. As the base filled up, I kept reaching in with a few fingers and pushing the sand away from the hole to compact it against the sides of the base. I was able to fill the base with about 80% of a 0.5 cu ft bag, so about 40 pounds of sand. The instructions were excellent - great pictures and easy to follow. I did not use their provided 'wrench', but my own socket set. The quality of materials is excellent - all painted items appear to be powder-coated. The unit has two wheels to allow the unit to be easily positioned. The first time you use this, the unit will smoke a bit for about 10 minutes or so, most likely burning off chemicals used during manufacturing. It lights very easily, within a few seconds. Of course, they recommend that you use the shutoff valve on your tank every time you finish using the heater. If you are the type of person who always follows every safety recommendation because some lawyer made them put it in the manual, you may get annoyed by having to lift up the tank cover every time you want to shut off the gas. Some other units have an access hole in the tank cover, but this one does not. The tank cover must be lifted up on the pole to get to the valve or to change the tank. There is a plastic ring around the hole in the tank cover to prevent it from scratching the pole when you raise or lower it. As for me, I will not be shutting off the valve every time I use it. If you have tested your tank installation and verified there are no leaks at the tank, it is really unnecessary, and actually you are more likely to cause a leak if you are continually messing with the tank every time you use the heater. The unit puts out a lot of heat. You will not be sitting out in shorts and a T-shirt when it's 32 degrees out, but on cool nights in the 50s, you can definitely be outside without a jacket on. I highly recommend this unit based on my limited experience with it, and will post an update if I encounter any issues that would affect my rating. ... show more

  • is sturdy if put together properly and looks great
Color: Stainless Steel Style: Stainless Steel
This patio heater is well worth the price. Came packaged very well, is sturdy if put together properly and looks great. As many reviews indicate the instructions have some problems put if constructed correctly you will have no problems. Make sure to use some real wrenches / sockets to put it together. They supply a "toy"wrench but you will not be able to fully tighten the bolts using it. Here are corrections to the instructions. Step 1. You don't need to remove the 4 screws. Just remove the center cap and fill with sand. Recommend you purchase the fine sand used between pavers. Home Depot sells it. Its Paverstone Sand/mix. Its fine and dry so easy to pour in hole. Step 3. Do NOT tighten the 3 base bolts as suggested until completing step 4. Leave finger tight. Step 4. After completing this step as outlined in the instructions, than go back and tighten the base bolts in step 3. Step 8. The instructions say " remove the four small bolts and loch washers from the head assembly." This is incorrect. The four bolts and lock washers are together in the shrink pak. Also it should say to use a washer with all four head bolts as well. St you want to add a washer from shrink pak to each of the 4 bolts. So each will have a bolt, followed by a lock washer, followed by a regular washer. Step 8.5. Missing in instructions is at this point you thread the gas hose thru the lower pipe and screw the two pipes together at this time. Step 11.5. Missing is the step to connect the gas regulator valve to the gas hose. Make sure you use two wrenches and that you tighten the hose bolt tightly to the regular. Do not rely on using the play wrench that comes with the shrink pak. Lastly the lighting instructions are not correct. it says in the instructions to turn the dial between high and low, then to press ignition. This will not work. You need to turn the dial half way between the OFF and HIGH markers. In this position you can press the black dial all the way in. While holding it all the way in press the ignition button once or twice at same time. Flame will start. Hold the black dial in for 20 to 30 seconds to heat the thermo coupler which is required to keep it running on its own. After 20 to 30 seconds release the black dial and now turn it to the desired temp between HIGH and LOW. ... show more

  • Worked better than expected!
Color: Slate Gray Style: Powder Coated
I see a lot of reviews for these outdoor heaters- most not so great with complaints of it not heating the desired space, not distributing heat well, or even confusing to assemble. I will be completely honest- I had one previously bought from a Walmart vendor (still in the box). I set both of them up at the same time. (I gave dad, Mr Fix-It , the OTHER one to assemble) This HEATER was soooo easy to put together! The instructions were fool proof! The tools and hardware came in a packaging that were separated and clearly labeled! (The OTHER one came with everything in one little bag- no labels, all mixed up) Needless to say, assembly was a breeze! I finished and was able to help dad decipher which bolt was which for the OTHER one. Once connected to the propane tank (not included, but would have been cool) turned it on. Heat was beautiful (for lack of words)! It was set up under a large tent. No smoke, no fires, I didn't burn the tent down, thanks to a quality heater! Covered a good 10x15 space! I was pleasantly surprised since we had cold, rainy weather. We even had to turn it down later in the evening, because it got so warm. All in all! 10 outta 10. Def Recommend! A worth it product! ... show more

  • If it holds up over time, I'm very satisfied!
So far I'm very pleased with my purchase (I've only been using the heater for 2 days - I'll update this review if I experience any issues). The assembly instructions could use some tweaks for clarity, but they are considerably better than most I've screamed at over the years. It took me less than an hour from opening the box to the first ignition, and that includes removing all the annoying protective shrink wrap. No issues with missing hardware or hole alignment. I didn't cuss once while putting this together, and that earns a good assembly score. With a full propane tank the heater feels quite stable even without adding sand or water to the base (I am going to add sand anyway). As you can see from the photo, the unit is pretty well protected where we have it on our lanai. We also don't have kids running around, but I could definitely see a rambunctious tyke easily taking one of these down. The first time I ignited the heater it caught on the second attempt. Every other ignition since then has been on the first go. On the highest setting this heater puts out a significant amount of heat. It keeps us very cozy on the couch about 8 feet away (far right in photo). On the lowest setting you'll need to be almost right under it to feel the warmth. I expect we'll go through a fair amount of propane since we're about 8 feet away. The unit is attractive and, overall, seems well built. It would be nice if the heat reflector was larger, as that would likely provide a larger heat radius. I'd also like to see an adjustable pole instead of the fixed length. Provided the heater lasts, this is a great deal. Update: everything is still working great! Updating my review to five stars. ... show more
