We have a two slice toaster but needed a bigger one for when family are around so after some review searching we picked this one. The bagel but is nice and it only toast one side of each half of the bagel so you have to remember to place them in correctly. The pull down handles are strong and have a finger grove for comfort. It has two crumb trays in bottom at the back to remove crumbs as most do. The control/temp mobs feel good not cheap and the defrost option/button is nice. So after using the toaster for about 30 days we are happy with our purchase and would recommend it to others.

Once upon a time I procured my first 4-slice toaster from an estate sale for about $5.00. It became my forever toaster, until it didn’t. When one side stopped working I yearned to replace it. A nice looking Cuisnart CPT-142P1 caught my eye, and I promptly purchased it from Amazon. You must understand that I enjoy a bagel from time to time, and prefer it toasted like the local Bagel Shop toasts them. Well the Cuisnart toasts both sides of the bagel. So why does it have a bagel button on it? I can burn the back side of my bagels in the normal toaster mode just fine. So back it went. As my original toaster was a Kenmore it was decided to stick with a proven brand, what could go wrong? So off the order went for a Kenmore toaster. It toasted bagels properly; however it took 6 minutes whereas the old Kenmore did the job in 3 minutes. Come to find out it was slow in all modes. The elements didn’t even seem to light up. It’s a good thing Amazon loves returns. Off it went. Next I ordered an Amazon Basics 4-slice toaster. I’ve run the preliminary tests, and finally I think my new forever toaster has arrived. Sorry for all the returns Amazon, but you’re not getting this one back. The End Reply from Aunt Irene: Your toaster saga is a testament to the ups and downs of finding the perfect kitchen appliance. It sounds like a true journey of trial and error! It's interesting how even small features like a "bagel button" can make a big difference in your satisfaction with a product. I really like the finish of this toaster. I like the styling, it’s a little bit retro but it fits in really well with the rest of my kitchen. The black goes really well with my black stainless steel refrigerator and black appliances. It’s got buttons on it for bagels, defrosting, frozen bread and to cancel if your toast is done before it pops up. I especially like the button to cancel toasting. As sometimes I can see that it’s done before it pops up and this is a simple push of a button and up it comes. I’ve had it for a couple of hours but I’ve already toasted some bread in there, and it came out toasted very evenly. There’s a bit of a smell on the first burn, but that will go away as I use it more. The dials for how dark you want your toast have numbers and little click stops as you make the dial turn for darker or lighter, which is very cool and it lets you know exactly what setting you are on for each side. There are two slide out trays in the back of the toaster to get your crumbs out after you toast bread or bagels. I thought this toaster was reasonably priced and it sure looks great in my kitchen. I’ve just gotten it so I can’t say how long it will last, but it looks like it is made to last a good long time.

This toaster has been a great addition to our kitchen. The extra-wide slots easily fit bagels and thick slices of bread, and the shade selector lets everyone get their toast just the way they like it. I really appreciate the separate controls for each side, which makes it easy to toast different items at once. The crumb trays are easy to clean, and the extra lift feature is helpful for safely grabbing smaller pieces. It works quickly and consistently, and the sleek design looks great on the counter. I am so happy with this purchase that I plan to buy another one for our guest space.

The toaster stopped working after about 1 1/2 weeks. Unfortunately, we had already tossed the packaging away and could not return it. One side of the four slices stopped functioning completely and there was nothing we could do to get them working. Quality of the product is obviously quite poor and durability is very poor. Although when we first plugged it in everything seemed to work OK as said after the first week and a half two of the four slices or one side stop functioning completely. We ended up throwing the toaster in the garbage since it was $50 and just purchased a replacement. We would not recommend purchasing this particular toaster.
