  • Worth it, buy!
Color: Arabica Black Style: Retro
I carefully read reviews before purchasing as this item is fairly expensive. My experience so far based on those other reviews: (1) its easy to fill the reservoir, it doesn't have to be done from height and doesn't spill; (2) "brown water, morning poo and hair on your chest" is possibly the most entertaining description of the settings I've seen and of course hair on your chest was the first one I had to try and its dead on, was far too strong for me and I've settled down with "morning poo" with 1 scoop per 4 cup setting of water on the pot (old coffee maker was 6 total scoops to make 3 finished cups with 1 cup evaporating somewhere during the brew cycle, a total waste of expensive coffee) ; (3) glass carafe easy to wash out; (4) I drink my coffee fairly quickly, so a 30 minute hot plate is more than long enough for me; (5) unless I missed it, nobody commented about the nice spot on the top to set your coffee cup to warm up during the brew cycle? I really like that as I'm not having to run hot water in the sink to prewarm the cup. Great little machine. Love the look, the simplicity (on/off button and a push button dial for strength setting) and wow, it makes a really, really good pot of coffee. ... show more

  • Simple and Functional with a Unique Design Simple and Functional with a Unique Design
Color: Arabica Black Style: Retro
I like the look of the item and the size. I’m renting and have limited storage space in my kitchen and it fits just fine. Functionality is simple and the end product is good tasting coffee. It is good for someone who doesn’t need numerous options. I have had no issues.

  • Works well so far.
Color: Matcha Green Style: Retro
Mid 20th-century modern look without the mid 20-th century build. It is compact and takes about the same space as my previous 5-cup brewer. Two-button control is easy to operate and reliable, though it is not programable which at this price point seems like it should have been. Glass carafe seems a bit thin, but I haven't broken it yet and the carafe from my old brewer also fits. The carafe pours well without a tendency to spill, which is a nice improvement from my other. I fill the carafe with water to the metal ring and pour that in the reservoir, which slightly exceeds the max fill line in the reservoir. I have had no issues with spillage or leaking on the counter. The instruction book does suggest making sure the filter is not clogged if that does happen. The included reusable filter is a definite step up from my previous; it brews coffee without allowing grounds in the pot. Nice! For me the brew is fine on the middle setting, at least as good as my old brewer. As others have noted, the coffee is not as hot as typical. I'd say the temperature is lawsuit safe (thanks lawyers 🙄) but won't satisfy everyone. Not an issue for me. If it isn't quite hot enough, I'll zap it in the microwave. So far, the machine overall is working fine for me. I will update this review if that changes. One month update: Use it every day, no problems. Filling the reservoir can be a bit tricky if you insist on emptying a full pot of water into the reservoir. I suggest stopping when you can pour no more and stay close to the reservoir opening. 6-month update: Use it every day. Works great. Has been completely reliable for me. Never leaks water, but you might spill water while filling the reservoir if you try to pour too fast. Happy with the purchase. 14-month update: Still using it every day, and it is still working great without problems. One thing to be aware of is that in the upper part of the back is a small overfill drain hole. If the carafe is filled too much, then the water level will exceed the max allowable capacity, and water will drain out of the overfill hole and onto the counter. I can reliably fill the carafe up to the bottom of the metal ring without causing an overflow, so that is what I always take care to do. Overall, works as well and looks as good as the day I bought it. I do wish the top of the carafe was easily removable for cleaning. 2-year update: This has worked flawlessly for the past 2 years. One issue with many units like this is that it is very difficult to clean the water reservoir, and who-knows-what accumulates in there. Certainly a periodic cleanse with half vinegar half water would be a good idea. But, I finally decided that I wanted to reduce my plastic exposure especially with hot liquids. So out when the Amaste and my insulated plastic mug (I'm sure I ingested billions of micro plastic particles from that!) and in came the Coletti electric percolator. The Coletti has its own quirks, but it is all stainless steel in the water path. Then I swapped out the plastic mug for a ceramic mug with a coffee warmer and silicone cup lid. And that ends that chapter. ... show more

  • A great little coffee maker and performs faultlessly!
Color: Arabica Black Style: Retro
I love this coffee maker! I have tried so many top of the line, down to the 5 cup Mr. Coffee, and this is a winner! I have owned and used this great little coffee maker for 2-1/2 years. It makes a wonderful cup of coffee. It is a quality coffee maker and I have had zero problems with it since day one. The cost is a little more (or a lot less) than some of the other smaller makes on the market. I am so very happy with this cute little retro looking coffee maker. I own a small Krups, Mr. Coffee and a Cuisinart, and this is the only one that I am 100% satisfied with. The strength adjustment knob does change the strength of the brewed pot. The timing of the finished pot depends on the strength selection, as it slows down the water through the grounds depending on your setting. If it ever stops working, I will be buying another one, as in my opinion, it is the best in its class! ... show more

  • Worst decision
Color: Elegant White with Rose Gold Style: Retro
Do not waste your time and money!!! This is the second coffee pot I have bought in the last month. The first was so unique but backed up and flooded my white cabinets with a puddle of coffee. Then I got this one because I wanted a white and sophisticated coffee maker. This brews so slow I could get in the car and go to Starbucks and be back and still have to wait. Also doesn't keep coffee hot it's more like warm temperature. Then it would just shut off or back up again like my last one. I will never order a coffee maker from Amazon period! So I went to Target and got a $50 run of the mill and it is the best. Should have just kept things simple. Now here I go boxing up my item running it to Staples and wasting more time. Avoid this and just go get the standard brand and you will be better off. ... show more

  • Attractive. Simple to use. Not for me.
Color: Arabica Black Style: Retro
I had my previous GE 5-cup maker for 20+ years, and with the lid finally cracked, decided it was time to replace it with something more modern. I appreciate how simple the Amaste Coffee Maker is to use: press power, select brew strength & brew. However, it does not make the equivalent 5 cups to my former machine so I find having to make 2 brews every morning for 2 people, which makes this a single-brew device for my use. Design-wise, coffee maker is attractive-looking. There is a funnel connected to center of carafe lid; I'm not certain why this piece was necessary, as I find it gets in the way and makes washing carafe more challenging. Given the unit is black, odd that it came with a white filter, and needless to say, stained with coffee after first use. Comparing PROs and CONs, I feel this coffee maker is overpriced. At this price range, it should have additional features like being programmable. This will not be a re-purchase for me should I find myself having to buy another. ... show more

  • Lean & Mean Green Machine
Color: Matcha Green Style: Retro
Just as advertised, and true to the great reviews i read prior to purchase - this has no fancy bells or whistles, lest you consider the "strength" dial to be fancy/shmancy. the brewed coffee (i used the middle setting) was hot and crisp and flavorful - the spray nozzle really helps accentuate the inherent characteristics of the diverse varietals i brewed - the residency the different settings afford, via pulse immersion (or lack thereof for the milder setting), was distinctly noticeable. sure, other brewers feature this method, but for one this economic and stylish, well ... let's just say it more than exceeds expectations in those regards. one thing i am not a fan of is cleaning brew basket filters, but i'll get over that. also note that the included carafe is very small, as is the entire unit - i filled the carafe (or pot, in the modern parlance) up to the highest watermark, and put in four heaping scoops of ground coffee - this filled my 16oz mug up perfectly, not a drop was wasted, so no issue for me with the 30 minute warming window before it shut itself off (a feature i love, btw ... a failsafe, if you will). by the time i was ready for my secind cup, it had cooled down, and was good to fire up another fresh brew - i'm the only coffee drinker in the house, so it's perfect for my one-off mugs in the morning ... but be advised that if there are gonna be a pair sharing the coffee, you'll need to trim to 8ozs per. Definite bang for the stylish buck here, fits perfectly in my retro/art-deco themed EIK, and the quality of the brewed coffee is absolutely top-notch ... highly recommended! ... show more

  • Makes the best tasting coffee
Color: Ash Blue Style: Retro
Looks so chic on my kitchen counter! Makes the best espresso kind of coffee. Tastes like a cortado at Starbucks. It only makes about 4 small cups, but that works for me!
