New model is amazing: 1) Button on top instead of behind lamp. 2) Have approx. 5 hours of use on high and hasn’t begun to fade at all vs. old model only lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes on high before dying out. 3) Swivel for headlamp is tight so no bouncing around. 4) Super bright.

I run on mountain trails every day, and I use this headlamp for part or all of many runs in the winter. It is on the heavier side, but it doesn't bother me at all due to the comfortable strap and even weight distribution. Here are the positives. This is the best headlamp for trail running that I have ever used. 1. Very bright and wide when using the widest focus pointed ahead of the feet. 2. The light is incredibly clear and consistent, which is important when running on rocky terrain. 3. Very stable regardless of the angle used - no rattling or slipping. 4. At the brightest setting, the battery lasts for my longest darkness in runs (1.5 hours), and has plenty of charge left after that. The dimmest setting would probably be bright enough for much of my running. 5. In a pinch, I can take a charge cable if I forget to charge my phone for mileage tracking. 6. Red safety LED on the back is quite bright. 7. The focus (how wide the beam is) is very stable (doesn't change as I run). 8. It's nice to be able to focus the beam to its smallest point to look far ahead on the trail (or try to spot animals in the distance). ... show more

I have had this light for almost two full years now in industrial settings. It's a fantastic light, though it can be somewhat hard to fashion onto your hard hat. I wish the button to turn on was mounted somewhere other than the back of the light, though it is something that I have gotten used to. It is very durable. I have dropped it, had stuff dropped on it, and smashed it against objects many many times. The lens is slightly loose in the housing now, but that is it. Everything else has held up well. As I don't run it constantly, battery life for me is very satisfactory. I have to charge it normally twice a month depending on usage. That said it does heat up quickly while in use, and it can take a while to charge. It is exceptionally bright and useful for trying to find minute details in something when light is necessity. The largest downside is the weight. I understand the durable nature might lend itself to something heavy, but it is noticeable especially when wearing for 8-12 hour days with only small breaks in between. When this one breaks, I am unsure if I will try to find a different brand or not. If nothing else it has done very well for the price I paid for it and held up in punishing conditions. I really wish it were lighter, but that might just be the trade off for durability. ... show more
