I've been using the Aluminum AMPS to 17mm Ball Adapter with Extension Rod for my car phone holder to replace a direct-mount phone holder that was very secure but didn't work well with my particular car. The lightweight, high-quality aluminum construction with a textured, powder-coated surface ensures a secure hold on the ball ends. It works with all the 17mm phone holders I own. While experimenting with different configurations, I found the base ball attached to my AMPS-compatible mounting plate to be the most effective. I had an existing phone holder that attached to the ball. The arm and extension were too long for my specific needs, but I had no issues with them. The screws for the base were a little too long for my ProClip vehicle-specific mount and stick out the back. I may trim them with a small rotary tool cutoff wheel. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this solution and would recommend it to others looking to secure phones or other smaller devices. ... show more

I wanted something to put at my bedside on the wall in a stud for a magsafe charger. This lets me just slap my phone beside the bed on the wall without even needing a bedside table for a very minimalist look. The Leenconghui Aluminum AMPS to 17mm Ball Adapter for Cell phones and GPS Units is Rock Solid. I have the the 17MM mount assembly holding my GPS Unit steady in my Big Truck, the mount really does a great job of not moving out of adjustment, simply said "it stays put". This Mount Really "Clamps" the Balls where you set them, better than any other Ball mount that I have used. My guess would be the Metal Balls over the Plastic Version but I really don't know, what I do know is it gets the job done. I would recommend this mount to anyone that needs to keep a Cell Phone, GPS, or Camera in place. I gave the Leenconghui Aluminum AMPS to 17mm Ball Adapter a Full Five Stars Across the Board.
