I looked at this Alpicool car refrigerator as a replacement for a cooler with ice during my annual road trip this year. After looking at the average cost of a 5-7 pound bag of ice, and considering how much ice I've gone through in a road trip during the past few years, I figured this refrigerator could "pay for itself" in just a few weeks. After receiving the item (it arrived on its side, and was packed upside down in the box!), I let it sit properly right-side up for about 12 hours. I plugged it in, set it to 37F on "HH" (non-eco mode) and "H3" (high), and it cooled down within 2-3 hours. Prior to loading it with drinks and some food, I cooled it down again, and set it at 35F, Eco and H3 for the bulk of the road trip. It did a great job of keeping food and drinks cold when it had power, and like a "regular" refrigerator, it did a decent enough job of functioning as a cooler when no power was available. I screwed up when ordering a backup power source to use with this when we were camping without electricity, so we needed it to work as a cooler then. I have since acquired a small AC/DC power bank (a 300W/288Wh one) that will power this. Overall, this is easy to use, lighter than it looks (and lighter than I thought it would be), and has good enough storage capacity (just remember that you can "pile" things up because of the way the lid is shaped. I look forward to using it on more trips in the future, and never having to worry about leaky coolers and constantly buying ice again.

We bought this a year ago in anticipation of a cross country move. My husband suffers from chronic hereditary migraines so we have several migraine hats with built in ice packs in them for his use. It was smooth sailing using this on our move. We were in and out of hotel rooms and the car with it and it was fantastic. When we got to our new home, we decided to keep using it so we put it in our bedroom for his really bad migraine days so he had easy access to his hats and it's worked amazingly well. My husband was diligent about defrosting it once a month to keep it running well. We are currently defrosting it now but noticed it having issues meeting the temperature for the last couple of days so it may no longer work but guys... One year of CONSTANT use with regular maintenance and it's been an incredible buy. Even if we have to toss it in the dumpster tomorrow it was worth every penny. I definitely recommend this! We are still within one year of purchase (technically) but with the constant use I feel like it would be unfair to try to warranty this freezer because I can't imagine it was built to be on 24/7. We probably won't replace it because we really mostly bought it for travel use and now that we're settled in our home it's not a worry but it was super convenient for my husband's chronic illness. If we ever want one again we'll be looking into this brand again

It just got delivered 30 minutes ago 4/7/23. Everything looks good no dents cracks or other visual damage. I researched this fridge on YouTube. They say you should let the unit stand level at least 12 hours before use to allow compressor fluids to settle. This is because in shipping it may have been stored on its side so I’m letting it sit until tomorrow. The instructions doesn’t say to do this, but it makes sense to me. So, I will come back and update this review when I put it to use. I’ve heard good things about Alpicool so I am a little disappointed that the logo is just a peel and stick on tape which has a bubble in it so it’s not adhered very well. However the label doesn’t make it run. Just hoping I haven’t Ben given a cheap knock off. If it works I’ll be happy. UPDATE: it’s the next day so I believe it’s sat long enough. It started right up with my jackery for power. In 10 minutes it went from 64 degrees down to 54 and dropping as I type. It’s on Max at the moment drawing 44w. Switched to eco mode now drawing 29w. It fluctuates just a bit has compressor kicks on and off. Success. I’m happy with it. ANOTHER UPDATE: I’ve had this for one work week. It’s working great. I probably would have done better with the 9liter fridge because it takes up some space in my king cab, but I do plan to use it for camping so it’s ok. Got a fridge thermometer and found that it was actually 30 degrees inside so I set the unit to 41degrees. My concern now is for when the Texas heat ramps up. It’s refreshing to have cold V8, water and fruit cups. It’s working perfectly, as for power supply, that’s a work in progress. My 500 jackery doesn’t last all day. UPDATE OCT 7Th I bought another Alpicool. I put the bigger one in the house. Too big for my new Versa. This one fits perfectly in my back seat. It cools down quickly. It’s a 10L size. It has plenty of space for drinks and my lunch. Working just fine. Thank you Alpicool.

I bought this because I take long road trips and was tired of taking an ice chest and always having to stop and replace the ice. I will admit though, the instructions are horrible but once I notified the company, they were more than happy to explain to me how to get it set and to reset it should I need that in the future. It's lightweight, easy to carry, so very affordable and maintained the cooling temperature. I just returned from my first trip and it worked like a charm. I'm so in love with this thing and am eager to use it on my next trip.

This thing is exactly what I needed. I’m a local truck driver and, let’s be real—buying bottled water from gas stations adds up fast. And messing with ice for a cooler? Total hassle. With this, I don’t need ice or frozen bottles to keep my lunch and drinks cold. It’s got a compressor, so it cools down quick. I keep it around 35° because I like my drinks ice cold—especially in this heat. It runs great off the 12V plug in my semi without any issues. At the end of the day, I throw it in Eco mode and set the temp to around 55°, and it’s ready to chill again fast in the morning. Doesn’t drain the battery either. If you’re a trucker—local or OTR—I definitely recommend it!
