I bought the AlorAir HD 90 in October, 2021, to replace a 10 yr old Santa Fe unit that died for my sealed 1500 sq ft crawlspace. I did a lot of research before buying this so hopefully it will pay off. In no particular order, here are some of my initial observations after running it for 6 weeks: 1. It appears to be made of good quality materials and it is definitely not underpowered for my purposes. I like the digital controls which my old unit lacked. 2. There is no drain tube included so I reused the flexible plastic line I already had, just make sure to loop the line over itself per the instructions (helps ensure proper discharge of water from the unit). 3. It was really easy to install, just set it in place, level it (a wrench does the trick), connect the power and drain lines, turn it on and set the humidity level. Took about a day to drop my humidity level from 80% to about 55% - just above what I had it set at. I did set the unit on some scrap 2x4 wood pieces to elevate it so it would adequately drain to the sump pit. Don't expect any unit to push water uphill to a drain or sump pit. 4. It is very quiet. I have it sitting under the living room and I never hear it running. It seems to be pulling about the same or slightly less power than my dead Santa Fe unit. 5. The exhaust fan on the unit is pretty powerful. I initially thought that I might duct the exhaust air away from the unit to increase circulation in my crawlspace which is only about 3 feet tall but the unit seems to have no problems keeping the whole area within tolerances. 6. I have a separate remote temp and humidity sensor set up about 15 feet away from the AlorAir unit. I recommend having one so you can monitor your crawlspace and verify that the unit is working properly. The unit seems to keep the humidity with a few degrees from what I set it at so I am pleased with that. The AlorAir unit says it will keep it within 5% humidity from what you set it at. 7. Lots of people seem to complain about the unit dying early in the one star reviews. While mine is new and working fine I will note that even if you were to buy this unit from a professional installer or specialist, they often do not service the units beyond basic diagnostics. So, when these spendy dehumidifiers quit working, you can often be left on your own unless regardless of the model purchased or who you purchased it from. I hope my unit lasts at least 5 years but time will tell. 8. Amazon advertises extended warranty protection for additional fee on this unit for up to 4 years which seems pretty good until you start reading the fine print. From my research, it doesn't seem like this unit qualifies as “houseware” and some customers who buy the Amazon warranties say that Amazon will offer these warranties on products that do not qualify. If your product doesn't qualify for protection then it seems like a crapshoot as if you can even get a refund on your warranty purchase. I skipped the extended Amazon warranty. 9. I bought this unit in part because unlike AprilAire and Santa Fe, you can install this yourself without voiding the warranty. Those other two units require a pro install. It is an expensive unit but I wanted something more commercial grade and hopefully long lasting since no one likes messing around in their crawlspace more than they have to.

Deceptive warranty - Do not waste your money

Alorair's web site describes their 5 year warranty like this: "5 YEARS WARRANTY- We believe in quality and after-sales-service, All our high-quality ALORAIR basement/crawl space dehumidifier is made for your full utilization. It is sure to last long and still keep its shape look. Your 100% satisfaction is guaranteed with a 5 Years Warranty and a great after-sales-service team countrywide." My wife and I never imagined spending $1,000+ for a dehumidifier. But with a statement from a US company that: "Your 100% satisfaction is guaranteed with a 5 Years Warranty and a great after-sales-service team countrywide," we bought with confidence that the HD 90 was the right investment to make. Only a US company with confidence in their product would offer a 5 year warranty and 100% satisfaction guaranty. If it were to have an issue, there was an "after-sales-service team" nearby to perform warranty repairs. So, we purchased the HD 90 from Amazon for more than $1,000. At first, the unit worked great. It reduced and controlled the humidity in our basement and we were very happy. Then, after less than 2 years (not even half way through the warranty), the HD90 stopped dehumidifying. Although the unit would cycle on and sounded like normal, it was't removing moisture from the basement air. Knowing we had the 5 year warranty, I contacted Alorair's customer service team about warranty service. They happily shipped me some parts (new capacitor and circuit board) to replace on the unit. Unfortunately, the replacement parts didn't fix the issue. Still, no dehumidification. As it turns out, the warranty really isn't for 5 years, their "service team" is not "countrywide," and there's no 100% satisfaction guaranty. I was told by Alorair's service team that, since our unit didn't fail during the first 12 months, Alorair won't repair it under the warranty unless we pay to have the unit shipped to them, and then pay to ship it back to my house after the repair is complete. We live in Maine, and their only service facility is in California. The unit weighs about 80 pounds, so the cost of round-trip shipping cross-country (6,000+ miles) is wildly expensive. In the interest of full disclosure, Alorair did give us an alternative to paying to ship the HD90 the 6,000 mile round-trip for repairs: we could buy a different model unit from them for a few hundred dollars, and it would have the remaining warranty period carried by our defective HD90. So, instead of paying $1,050 for a dehumidifier guaranteed to last at least five years, we'd really be paying closer to $1,400. The problem is that we don't want to spend $300 more for a different/second dehumidifier model. We already paid plenty for what is supposed to be a high-quality humidifier backed by a five year warranty. Needless to say, Alorair's warranty really is not for 5 years. There is no 100% satisfaction guarantee. Nor is there a service team in your vicinity unless you live in Southern California. Given that our unit lasted about 2 years, we figure that we paid a little over $500 per year for Alorair's HD 90. Had we known they would not honor the warranty, we wouldn't have spent that much on the Alorair unit. Unless you live in or near Ontario, California or don't mind buying a second dehumidifier after your HD 90 stops working mid-way through the warranty period, you may want to consider looking elsewhere and exploring other brands of dehumidifier that are less costly and a better value.

Excellent thus far, solved all our humidifier issues

Have a crawl space in our new home, had an inspection, and were told we had mold. It was removed, and we needed a way to keep the humidity down (it was hovering around 60+). First, we tried the ALORAIR fan, as our inspector said it would do the job, but it was inexpensive, loud, and not effective. So we got this unit. It was easy to install and worked on WiFi from the start. Since this is a 2nd (vacation) home, we wanted something that we could control remotely. Within an hour, the crawl space was below 50. We saw water running out of the tube! We already had an Asurity by DiversiTech, Model PROCP-22S pump installed for our heater, so it was easy to move the Alorair water tube into it to pump the water out of the crawlspace. Be sure to figure a way to get the water out, if you don't have a pump system like we did, you need to spend a bit more for the Alorair unit with a pump. Also, raise the unit high enough so the water drains to a secondary pump. Alorair sells a strapping system to allow the unit to hang; it's like $80. Instead, we used two milk crates (see photo) the unit sits on to keep it level; the cost was a mere $12! This allows the tube to drain water well. We put a 2nd humidifier meter from SwitchBot next to the Alorair, and they correlate within 2 degrees, so we set the Alorair to 48, and the other meter says our humidity is 50. We read that 45-55 is ideal for a crawlspace, so we are at a good, safe value. When this unit runs, we can't hear it at all, even standing at the crawl space door. The original Alorair fan was really loud, so we are very happy with this product, despite the cost. The iOS app is decent (we found one little bug with a setting called "Chamber History" never updating when set to "day" but otherwise, the app does what it needs to do.

I got a lemon, support was helpful. UPDATED.

Worked good for about 3 weeks and then I noticed the humidity started climbing again. Went up and noticed the coils had frosted over. The automatic defrost never kicked in. I shut the unit off to let it defrost and water leaked out of the corners of the chassis, all over the attic. I managed to wrestle the 70lb unit into an empty storage tub the catch the rest of the water, and left it overnight. Came back the next morning, made sure all the frost had melted, and turned it back on. 10 minutes later got an error that it had a refrigerant leak and it shut back off. I’ve sent two emails to support about each issue separately and it’s been a week with no response. I’m just barely within my return window to send it back, so I will be returning. Unfortunately the box had already been tossed out a couple days before it stopped working so I have to figure out how to box it up. Overall very frustrated, and at this point won’t be buying from Alorair again. Update 12/5/2025: I was able to get in touch with support over the phone, the form and email on the website did not work, and they had me sent me a different form to fill out. I went through some troubleshooting steps and they determined the unit was bad. They offered to replace it but the same model was on back order so I just opted for the refund. They provided the return label, but I did have to purchase another box to fit the bad unit in to ship back. Support was responsive and helpful, I would have been happier if I didn't have to spend money on the box for shipping, but I did get a full refund on the product. Overall I would consider buying from Alorair again.

Good machine, not so good wifi.

The humidifier works great, and the digital readout is nice. However, the wifi unit and the app do not work well together even with a strong router signal. Those items are also Chinese, which does not match Made In USA as stated on the website.

Well-packaged and Smooth Setup

Well-packaged and easy to setup and operate. My three primary concerns: 1. Damage during shipping 2. Problems with the app/wifi connection 3. Noise while running overnight I've been running the unit for two days now and I can say that none of these things have been an issue. The unit arrived very well-packaged with high density foam, corner protectors, and edge protectors, which prevented any damage to the unit (see pics). The delivery driver left it on my porch on its side, so I waited 2 hours before powering it on, per the included instructions. I connected the condensation drain line and turned on the unit. The unit powered up and immediately started running. It took about 45 min for moisture to appear in the drain line in a high-humidity environment. The reported GPP moisture level has decreased from 77 to 60 over the last two days and the air in the crawlspace is noticeably dryer. The unit is very quiet. I installed it below my first floor bedroom and I can barely hear it when my HVAC turns off, but it's almost silent. Some people have reported issues maintaining wifi connection, but I only had the app disconnect once, and I was easily able to reconnect to the unit remotely in the app (see pics). I was able to register the product and activate the warranty with no problems. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. I'll try to remember to update my review when I change out the first filter at the 90 day mark. (Nice that the app tracks filter lifespan for you).

Buyer Beware

My unit worked for 3.5 seasons and then failed due to a refrigerant leak just after the warranty expired...although the warranty doesn't cover much anyway. The customer service was adequate and they offered me a new unit at a slight discount. I definitely would not recommend this product/company.

Best boat anchor on the market.

This Sentinel HD90 worked great for 9 months, then stopped working with an error code E5. Manual says it is a refrigerant leak. I unplugged it for 5 minutes to see if it was a hardware glitch, plugged back in and it ran for a few minutes before stopping and offering the same code. I reached out to Alorair customer service 4 days ago by email and have not heard back (today is Friday, June 12, 2026). Looking at their warranty, even though I am within a year from purchase, I would still incur a cost of shipping back to California from the East Coast and back again. In addition, it seems the trend is they will offer you a new one for a few hundred dollars, you lose the original warranty, and live out the warranty balance from the first unit. $850.00 well spent. Instead of trying to hunt down their customer service and take another bone-headed deal from this company, hoping their next unit lasts more than 9 months, I decided to try a Vevor unit of larger size and same features….for a few hundred dollars. I have bought a few Vevor products and they have been fantastic to my surprise. One of my purchases from Vevor was a 72” chest freezer that we have had for 2.5 years that we keep in a screened porch (so - technically it’s outdoors) and it has performed flawlessly. I’m not trying to shill for Vevor, but I’m tired of paying hard earned money for expensive products that cannot do what they were designed for. I have bought a large format tile cutter, an electrician’s hydraulic knockout punch set, and a gigantic chest freezer from Vevor all for a fraction of the big name brands and they have all done wonderful work. Not one complaint. If you can find a better product at this price point…please let me know. As for Alorair - read everyone else’s comments. There is obviously a quality control and/or build tolerance failure. They look nice and have great marketing, but good luck on your gamble.
