Converted an old 26" mountain bike. Only used the Controller, LCD, and Throttle - everything else is still in the box. The battery is an R5-Shorty 36v 13Ah 470Wh eBike/Scooter Battery, fits nicely on the cargo rack above the rear wheel. I removed the power and ground bullet connectors on the controller and replaced with XT60 connectors to match my battery. The motor is a Bafang front wheel 250W/350W. Matching the Bafang motor wires (Green, Yellow, Blue) to the same colors on the Controller made the motor want to rotate backwards. Once I found a particular you-tube video (UX_knH0l5GA), it explained a wiring combination that ended up working for me: Controller Blue to Motor Yellow Controller Yellow to Motor Green Controller Green to Motor Blue I also never found the proper 6-pin motor wiring connector to mate with the one from the controller. My kit came with a 4-pin connector in the motor wire harness bag, which obviously wouldn't work, and I tossed the 4-pin connector in the trash. Instead, I cut out the 6-pin controller connector and just soldered the motor harness wires to controller wires. Since my motor had a Hall sensor wire (white), I removed the 3-pin Hall Sensor connector from the controller and discarded it and the extra power (red) & ground (black) wires originally jumpered from the (now removed) 6-pin connector; then, I just soldered together the white Hall Sensor wire from the controller to the White Hall sensor wire from the motor. Changed the LCD to mph, set the speed adjustment to match GPS, and did a bunch of test rides. With Power Assist level 5 on level ground, got it up to 26mph with an adult. I bought this kit to update a bike that I installed a motor from E-Bikekit.com on a few years ago. This gives us a display with battery health, speed, and brings the controller switch to the handlebar. The motor is a typical Bafang hub motor with the standard "waterproof" 9 pin connector. I purchased a cable on Amazon that plugs into the motor connector, and has the pin connector to attach to this controller for $14. That made wiring super simple. In this case the colors of the wires matched the colors from the adapter cable making it a fast swap. Still it isn't difficult to match the signal wires if the colors don't match up. I have included a higher quality version of the installation instructions that were provided by the seller. I found that the green wires for the automatic phase detection work very well. So, you don't need to go through a lot of rewiring to figure out how to get the motor to run the quietly in right direction. Just plug the two mating green wires together and start the unit with the wheel off the ground. After you start it the controller will do its thing until the motor is responding correctly. Turn off the display, unplug the green wires from each other, and restart. You should have it all working. Calibrating the display for your battery and motor is simple, but the instructions aren't easy to read. To get into the settings for the display you need to hold the up/down buttons down for a few seconds. When finished you do the same thing to save your settings. The screens are: P0: Battery Voltage (I think this is the low cut off voltage, if so it would be 42v for our 48v battery) P1: Wheel diameter (we have 26" wheels as marked on the tires) P2: Motor Poles (this determines what speed will be reflected on the display, easy to adjust by trial and error using your phone's GPS as a baseline) P3: km/h, or m/h speed display P4: still working this one out. I think this will work for us. I'm still not sure about the voltage setting on the display, or what the P4 setting does. One of the reasons we wanted this display was to get real time feedback about the charge, and if the setting is not set right the charge will not be indicated correctly. I have not had any success getting this information from the seller despite many messages back and forth. I'm hoping it is the LVC as I said earlier, but if it is supposed to say 48v it will not be useful at all. ... show more

Everything seems well build and good for the money, no instructions but its not too bad and i havnt seen anything suggesting that it has this feature but after throttling up to a speed you like press and hold the “C” button on the screen and it will cruise at that speed! So neat

All I had to do was connect the green hub wire to the blue wire on the controller, also connect the blue wire from the hub to the green wire from the controller. After that adjustment, everything works perfect. I ride it full power on setting number 5 everywhere I go. No pedal assist. Works fantastic since day one. Replacement for a 26" Bafang 36V DC electric front hub drive. Easily goes 31 mph. ... show more

    • Water gets into LCD display. NOT waterproof. Will fail when water gets in.

The LCD display is not water resistant at all! Any rain that lasts for more than an hour will make water seep into the LCD and it will not power on. I was left stranded after leaving the bike outside during an afternoon of rain. I had to take it apart and dry the circuit board and now there is white corrosion on the electronic components. Not sure if this is due to a quality issue, or it simply cannot tolerate anything more than light rain. Edit: Now the throttle stopped working mid trip.
