I ordered the Echo Show 5 to use on my nightstand, and I’m really glad I did. It’s compact but surprisingly powerful for its size. Setup was easy, and within minutes I had it playing music, showing the weather, and displaying my Amazon Photos like a digital frame. The sound quality is better than I expected for such a small device — perfect for podcasts, background music, or using Alexa. The screen is clear and responsive, and it’s great for checking my calendar, seeing who’s at the door (paired with my Ring camera), or even quick video calls. I also appreciate the privacy features, like the physical camera shutter and mic mute button. While the screen is a bit small for watching videos for long periods, that’s not really what I bought it for. For its purpose — bedside smart display and assistant — it’s perfect.

I bought the 5 inch thinking it would have a bit of a larger screen. Other than that, its pretty good. I bought it specifically for my Reolink PoE doorbell, but the interfacing didnt work out like id hoped. However, we use this for music, questions, weather, etc and it excels at that.

It is outstanding! I got it as a birthday present from my brother. The sound has great quality. It's so easy to use and so helpful! I use it all the time. Great for waking up and keeping you organized and on time. The alarm is just awesome! You can wake up to just about anything you want. The sound is great for something so small. Keeps you on track! It lasted just about 7 years with heavy use which is fantastic! I just replaced it with a new one as could not live with out it! Great for reminders, getting weather forecasts, news , to do lists or reminders.

Edit: changed from 1 to 5 star. It was just on initial setup that it was slow! Great speaker! Sorry but in 2025 to have a device that takes 3-6 seconds to respond after touching the touch screen is unacceptable. Sound isn’t bad for size but useless if you can’t control it. Did Amazon really have to use chips from 2007? My car in 2012 had a more responsive screen.

update 8/11/2025: I've been using this for a little over a month, It displays a tiny time and current local temp plus moon phase in upper right hand corner of the display. The temp always displays as 81 degrees no matter what the actual current local temp is and I haven't seen the moon phase change during the entire month I've been using it... so those don't work. When the actual temp outside has been 99 degrees with a heat index of over 111 degrees it still says 81. Imagine the shock of thinking it's a mild day and stepping outside into what feels like an oven. On it's own merits it's a big loser. Not worth the cost to buy it. I get accurate weather and temps when asking Alexa for the info but the Show display is always incorrect. But mainly I got this for the blink door bell camera. Didn't know that Blink requires a monthly subscription after a free trial. The blink does have a basic free use without storing video info but by the time it activates and displays the door bell on this Show device whoever was there is long gone. So again the Show 5 is a big loser. Not worth the money spent on it. If you really want something to be able to see what or who is at your door better off skipping the Show device and go with a Fire HD that in Show mode does everything the Show 5 does plus more and with a bigger screen. This Show 5 device is going into one of my junk drawers and I'll be putting my Echo Dot (5th Gen) with clock back on my end table. The Blink door bell will stay on my door and when it signals to my Amazon devices that there is motion at front door I'll just switch my TV's input to my wired security cameras and see what is at the front door. Don't need to have a Show device for that to work. Number of stars... a minus 5 for being completely worthless. _____________________________ I have an Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen) with clock that has a nice big clock display, you can see the time from across the room. Got this Amazon Echo Show 5 because the advertisement shows it has a big clock display and I thought it would be a great replacement for the echo dot and I could connect it to a blink doorbell as a bonus. It does connect to the blink door bell but it's very slow on displaying the door bell image that by the time it does whoever was there are long gone. Instead of a full clock display (there is a tiny clock display in top right corner too small for me to see without grabbing my glasses and certainly can't be seen from across the room) all I get is a full screen display of Amazon advertisements. And as other reviews stated that even using it as a display for personal photos it rarely displays them but continues with advertisements. What a waste. I discovered that my Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet can be put into "show" mode and works with the blink camera. It can be set up the same way as this show 5 as far as doorbell and motion alarm and so on. I could had just bought the blink doorbell and used my Fire HD 10 instead of buying this show 5 piece of cr*p. I have a feeling that any Fire tablet could do it but I only have the HD 10 tablet so can't verify that. I don't recommend buying this.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Perfect addition to my kitchen. I love to have music playing quietly while I’m home and this is perfect. I previously had one of the older models of the Echos that had great sound and this is very comparable. The little screen is easy to use, shows the music, fun facts, etc.
