I purchased two Echo Dot (5th Gen with clock) devices — one for myself and one for my son — and I couldn’t be happier. The sound quality is surprisingly good for such a small device, and the built-in LED clock display is a fantastic touch. We use it every day: from checking the weather, setting alarms, and listening to music, to controlling our smart home devices. ✅ What I love: The compact design fits anywhere. I was immediately drawn to the Cloud Blue hue of my new Echo Dot with clock because of how softly it injects a burst of energy into any room. The device's compact size makes it suitable for use in any room of the house, from the bedroom to the kitchen. Amazon's commitment to offering products that complement a wide range of aesthetic preferences is reflected in the subtlety of this one. This smart speaker stands out from the crowd because to its built-in LED clock display. This seemingly minor modification has transformed my Echo Dot from a simple alarm clock into a multifunctional wristwatch. I have 4 Alexa speakers placed around the house for hearing music/podcast anywhere. I play about 75% NPR news and interviews, music, and live sports via streaming service. It has worked brilliantly for 3 years. I often leave Alexa streaming music on while at work. August 2025, I came home to watch Braves baseball. I commanded Alexa to turn off the music. Alexa would not respond to stop, exit, desist or turn off. I didn't have time to pursue an answer, so I went to unplug/replug each unit. Same situation happend again a few days later. This time I contacted Customer Support. They said go to the speaker group, then click each speakers Setup cog. Then click on each speaker name, scroll down the menu to Disconnect/Reboot. That worked to stop the beoadcast but took a few minutes to get online. In the meantime, the tech person said they were getting a lot of complaints about this issue. So did the Alexa group on Reditt. Amazon gives no answers as to when the bug will be fixed. This seems to have started after an August update on my group. The text said they have no idea when the new bug will be fixed. This new issue does not bode well of Amazon's Dream to roll out an Alexa subscription service. I'm ready to dump Alexa for something that works without a lot of fuss. Alexa, you dissapoint me and let me down most of the time now. Do you want a new home at Goodwill?
