I started with the XT2 system many years ago and then added Outdoor 4 cameras about a year ago. Last November I got the XR module and wow, it’s amazing how far away from my house I can put them. I am able to use them like trail cameras on my property. I haven’t had any issues as long as the module and camera have direct line of sight. Blink cameras are easy to set up and use. The durability is excellent; my xt2 system is probably 10 years old. The picture quality is good but I suggest siding clips or a lower mounting option than under the eves of your roof so you can capture the details. My only “complaint” is that batteries don’t last but my cameras are always on so it’s expected. The picture is the distance from one of my cameras looking towards the house. The other one is even farther away. I also added a Blink wildlife video for your viewing pleasure. :) I might have to get the doorbell and pan camera next!

After many tries, I gave up . It failed to connect to my WiFi .It kept saying I entered the wrong password but I was able to connect many other devices . I have to return it. Review edited , After I put my first review with 1 star due to failing to syn, a customer technical service gentleman name Alex contacted me and followed up with several messages and even sent a replacement syn , and it is working now. I am very impressed with the service of Blink Tech Support Department Employees especially Alex.

The Blink Sync Module XR has revolutionized the working of my Blink Outdoor 4 cameras and trust me when I say it’s one of the best upgrades you can do for your Blink set-up. If you’ve been frustrated with the signal strength or the range of your wireless cameras, this device will banish all those problems away instantly. The range is the highlight of this device, as it connects your cameras seamlessly when they are far away from your house. Setup was extremely fast and stressless. It truly makes the process of setting up easy even for a person who wouldn’t call themselves very techies. All the steps are completed in a few minutes, and at that point, the system has been flawless. Cameras which had issues connecting are now working perfectly because of the use of the XR and XR+ features. It’s great to know the range of the cameras reaches up to 250 feet or higher if necessary. One feature that is most noticeable in practical applications is the responsiveness to every feature. Motion alerts come in swiftly because of the advanced dual-zone motion detection feature. Whether it is a delivery, a visitor, or some other unexpected activity, you can be sure the alert will come in quick enough to be considered helpful. A resolution of 1080p HD gives video quality that is clear and detail-filled, and nighttime observation is remarkably sharp. Two-way audio integration is another area to be excited about. Talking to others using the Blink system and its application feels very organic. It is very convenient to use two-way audio to chat with food delivery personnel or check in with family and friends who are not physically present. The battery life on the system is simply stellar. It lasts two years under regular use. This sole aspect of the system is a world unto itself. Another thing that I appreciate about the device is how scalable the entire system is. The fact that you can control various cameras simultaneously through the same application is perfect. The ability to either disarm or arm the entire system at once saves me a lot of time. You can either opt for cloud storage or even back up through a MicroSD card. The compatibility with Alexa is seamless. My thoughts, the Blink Sync Module XR is a dependable, range-extending, worry-free device, the sort of thing that feels like it’s been well and honestly thought about in practical, real-world terms. A good camera system has just gotten even better, and if you want reliable coverage of your entire property with a minimum fuss, this improvement is well worth the cost.

I have had Blink cameras both at home and my camp up in Maine for years now and have been very pleased with them. When I saw they now have an extended range I was thrilled as now I could be able to check on the boats at the dock in the summer when I'm not there. Well 4 days into the new XR system and have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I'm almost exactly 200 feet from the water and so far, they work about 25% of the time. Tried a couple times to set it on XR Mode and it wouldn't work. Finally got it to work on XR+ but like I said, maybe 25% of the time it will work, rest of the time is the clockwise symbol that it's trying to load. **** UPDATE 12/9/2024 **** So soon after this poor review I was contacted by Blink Support. They had me grant access to my system and looked into the issues I was having. They discovered I was connected to my 4G system and Blink operates on 2.4G. I switched my Sync module over to the 2.4 that I have for tank utility system this past weekend, and it now works perfectly. Big thank you to Kevin from Blink Technical support.

Update: Blink Customer Service reached out after seeing my 1 star review. The representative was able to check my Sync XR module and determined that I had defective cameras. Two new cameras were shipped to me next day and they worked. The representative was very helpful. Due to the proactive, prompt customer service, I'm changing my review to 4 stars. It will not pair with the Blink Outdoor 4 camera. I’ve tried everything to troubleshoot. No luck. I invested nearly $300 in the Sync XR and 2 Blink 4 cameras; a very disappointing purchase.

Update 3 Dec 2025: okay so it's been a year since I've been using this XR module. After all of the problems I had originally it started to work pretty well and you can only have two cameras connected to the XR Network at a time. Recently within the last couple of days, there has been an update that has been pushed through for Blink and now the XR module will not work properly. All of my cameras that are connected to the Wi-Fi network work perfectly they send motion notifications and they record video. The two cameras connected to the XR module extended Network have stopped recording video and they do not send any motion notifications any longer. I tested those two cameras by changing their Network to my Wi-Fi network and they worked perfectly. When I put them back on the XR Network no more notifications no more video. I've sent in an email to their support group letting them know that something is wrong with the XR module and any cameras attached to it will now not record video or send notifications to your phone. This is a huge security risk because the two cameras I have connected to that Network have to be on that Network because of their locations and I was told by Blink that I had to buy the XR module because of where I have those cameras so I have to spend the extra 70 bucks to buy a module that Now does not work correctly after one year. I have rebooted the system, I have restarted my home wi-fi, I have removed the batteries from my cameras and put them back in to reset the cameras, and still no video recording and no notifications for any camera attached to the XR Network. Very disappointing! Update 2: received an email on December 26th from an executive representative from blink . We have been emailing back and forth for the last few days and this executive representative has asked me to grant them access to my account which I did and to send a picture showing the location of the sink module and the camera . My sink module is located in my garage approximately 20 ft away from where the camera is located on the outside of the garage. So there is only one thin wall separating the two . The blink representative told me that I need to move the sync module closer to the camera which doesn't make sense because this sink module is supposed to extend your range up to 400 ft away and it's only 20 ft away right now . I find blink customer service is not very helpful or knowledgeable . And when I bring up the fact that one of their previous representatives, from a call last week, told me there is a known issue and they know that these are not working the way they should the new representative ignores that comment and will not respond to it which leads me to believe that they are hiding something . As of right now I have called Amazon customer service to file a complaint for them selling a product that has a known technical issue and the only resolution that Amazon was able to give me is to order a new sync module XR set it up and then return the other one for a full refund . Update 1: spoke with blink customer service again and gave them access to my blink app and they can see that the XR module is not providing the range it is supposed to. They then connected me with their technical support team who verified that they are experiencing issues with this module XR . Again they did not offer to replace this module or to make this good they just said wait and you will get an email when they have discovered the issue with their module. They said it is a known issue I am not the only one experiencing this but I just ordered this because the blink team emailed me saying hey you should get one of these you'll extend your range you'll have longer battery life. But it's not the case this supplies less signal and less range than the standard module . I ordered this because 2 of my outdoor 4 cameras were farest away from the wifi. Once received and set up the XR module gives you 2 more networks to choose from: an extended range(xr) network allowing up to 250 feet and an extended range plus (XR Plus) networks allowing up to 400 feet. Note only 2 cameras at a time can use the xr networks, all others use wifi - this was Not well explained in the description. Here's where the issue starts once fully connected, the xr plus network with 400 ft range only gave me one red bar of signal. The xr network with 250 ft range gave me 4 green bars. I called blink customer support and they reviewed my camera settings and agreed that something is wrong as the xr plus should provide the strongest signal not the weakest. They didn't offer a replacement even though they admit it's not working correctly. So frustrating because this camera system is really easy and user friendly but the required sync module xr isn't working correctly and I purchased this specifier the extended range

I had the "basic" Blink 2 Sync Module and it worked fine for the 3 cameras around the house + the doorbell camera. I don't live in a conventional neighborhood, and we have a driveway almost 400 feet long between the house and the road. It said it would work from 400ft, and I measured on a map measuring website and measured ~370 feet before buying this XR+ Sync and another Blink 4 outdoor camera. So I gave it a whirl. And lo and behold... It actually works from roughly 360ft away from the Sync module, which is sitting in the second story window. That ultra-low 900mhz signal is "cutting" through almost 300 feet of dense vegetation and trees. I thought at first the distance wouldn't work, then I realized at the time I was sitting in my truck trying to test how far I could go. The truck is a big steel box, which at that distance (~330ft at the time) will easily effect the signal penetration abilities, therefore forfeiting distance/range of the 900mhz signal. I stepped out the truck and it started working. (relatively) fine. I Also thought at first live view wouldn't work at that distance, (The motion detection recording was fine for XR+ mode which is limited to 360p). However, I guess my truck I drove up there at the time was sitting between the Sync module and the camera making the connection weak and inconsistent. Because now it works fine. All in all with the price of this XR+ Module and the Outdoor 4 camera (Which I got on sale for $38). And assuming it fits your ~380 foot and below range needs, and you can get the module in decent position. It makes for a decent replacement for a live view 4G cellular sim card trail camera. (which require a monthly data cell plan). I should mention, the whole reason I wanted this to work is because somebody stole our short palm tree flowers we have on each side of the driveway earlier this year LOL. Great addition to blink outdoor 4 camera systems. The XR goes above and beyond. Its slimlined and feels like a quality built item. Easy to install, I bought an all in one adapter for it so it plus straight into the wall. Cameras respond faster and the signal is stronger and further distances.
