  • Hardware Issue / Resolved eventually
Configuration: 1 Camera System
(UPDATE) 11/12/25 After numerous failed attempts by tech support to rectify the situation I must have been escalated to another tier. They accessed the camera / light in question and determined that it was a hardware issue. Two days later a new unit arrived at my house. Still not happy with original support (or lack of) but in the end Blink stood by their product and rectified the issue. As a consumer, that's what you want them to do. So all is well again! I am an avid Blink consumer. In all, I have 15 cameras inside and outside. One is this non wired floodlight. Overall I am VERY happy with Blink. My caution....stay far away from this product. In time the spotlight feature will stop working. Meaning that it will no longer come on with motion nor can it be controlled by the app. Blink support is zero and I mean ZERO help. After researching the issue on the web this is a common a recurring problem over the past few years that Blink has been unable to resolve. And yet, they keep selling them. Blink support will put you on an endless loop of ...change the batteries, unplug, replug, reset was rinse and repeat. All with the same results. Realizing the support was worthless, I did some experiments of my own. In my opinion the trouble lies in the short USB cord from the camera to the battery pack. The thick connection into the back of the camera is not the most secure and never seems to securily seat. If I take off the battery cover and go directly into the c attachment it fits securily. AND the spotlight works! It's not practical to mount the unit without the cover nor could you even mount it. So not a workable solution I did not ask for a refund. I usually never do. I learn and move on. But you think Blink would offer one or at least acknowledge that they are selling a non working product!! Love my Blink cameras. BUT if you buy this unit you are throwing your money away. Simply a horrible design with no support! ... show more

  • Peace of mind
Configuration: 1 Camera System
I got this camera to protect the side gate where pool workers tore down gate. Having a spotlight camera helps with security and letting me know when workers have arrived. Works great so far. Will see what happens with subscription at end of 30 days. Camera is easy to install and set up. No problems getting this onto to my iPhone and iPad. I just wish they had a computer version so I don't have to look at my phone. Have used it for two weeks. Will see how long battery lasts. It tells you when you are using it too much and battery is draining. This comes in handy. People complain that it drains fast. Well if you have in spots that get a a lot of foot traffic, it will drain. I am not one of those people continuously watching my cameras, so I set the alert times for night time or when I leave home. 2 months later, battery for both camera and spotlight needed to be replaced. It lasted longer than I thought, with a lot of alerts and checking that side gate was not moved. Overall, I am happy with the wireless although I may switch to a plug in for the rest of the pool build. I subscribed for a year. ... show more

  • Lights and camera don't reliably talk to each other--edit 3
Configuration: 1 Camera System
I'm a long time Blink customer, long enough that I'm grandfathered into the free cloud storage plan. I have cameras on my deck and porch that have been there for years and worked reliably. Battery life is exceptional and camera quality is good. This past December(2024) I decided to buy one of the camera flood light combos to mount over my garage door. The idea is a good one but execution is poor. The flood lights connect to the camera and are supposed to share the camera's motion sensing function. They don't, at least not consistently. When there is motion within range the camera always comes on but the lights do so only occasionally if at all. I called Blink tech support six months ago when I noticed the problem. They had me reinstall the camera and remove and replace the light batteries. They replaced the lights. They also did a firmware update. For a while the lights would work about half the time but then quit coming on altogether. It's not easy to climb a ladder and get the unit down so I just gave up at that point. The camera will record in low light so I just used it the way it was. Then a couple weeks ago I got a message that my lights were working! That lasted about two days before it went incognito again. Since my warranty runs out in a few months and I'd forgotten the hassle of getting the thing unmounted from my garage I decided to try again. When I reached tech support they had me start in with the same procedure as before--get the unit down, replace batteries, reinstall camera, check connection between light bar and camera, etc. which I did. It seemed to work a little better than before for about three days then I started getting the familiar message that my light bar batteries(that I had replaced a few days earlier) were shot and I should replace them and/or check the connection between lights and camera. To make a long story short I called tech support again this morning and was told that there's a known bug with the software and they're working on a fix. Evidently they're not real speedy as I first called them about it six months or more ago. This has been very FRUSTRATING!! Edit: Someone from Blink must have read my review as I was contacted almost immediately. I did have to go through the trouble shooting steps again but after doing so they sent me a replacement unit that arrived within a couple days. I switched it out and sent the original back and the new one has worked perfectly since installed. I guess the first one was somehow defective. It was an adventure but I'm happy with the finished product. Edit 2: About a week after install of the new light bar it quit working again. The app shows motion detection is turned on and battery strength is 100%. It must be a software issue. Blink has been good about trying to help me but they clearly have a problem with the floodlight system. I'm going to just give up and not worry about it any more. Maybe a future update will fix the problem. Edit 3: It's been about 3 months since the floodlight system quit again. All of a sudden I get a message on my iPhone that the lights are reconnected and working. Battery level is showing 100% as before. During the 3 month vacation that the lights took the camera worked great. If you only need floodlights every 3 months or so this is a great find! ... show more
