I bought this for my daughter in 2016. Recently she complained that it was slow... Which explains why she never used the thing. I purchased a model with 8GB of RAM. So then I tried to do Windows updates and it kept hanging... then I looked and the specs said it only had 4GB of RAM. WTH??? I opened up the back of the laptop, thinking maybe something happened and a RAM card got somehow knocked out of place. Imagine my surprise when there was only ONE card and it was only 4 GB RAM! The other 4 GBs were just missing. I can't believe that I'm finding this out 2 1/2 years later! I will NEVER buy from Dell again. Crooks!

I was so excited to buy this machine, but I am going to return it. The MAXIMUM battery life is 4 hours. That is it. Literally, when fully charged, it says 4 hours. However, Dell advertises it as having "all-day battery life." What a bunch of BS. Perhaps the newer versions have all-day battery life, perhaps those with an SSD have all-day battery life. But NOT this one. 4 hours when the battery is at 100%, and it quickly goes down to 3 hours when doing simple things like surfing the Internet. I have not even played a game on it yet!!!! So if I was gaming, the battery would last even less time. What a shame. I am so disappointed.

Can run Crysis 3 at 1080p high settings smoothly. Long battery life. Nice screen and keyboard. Lightweight. Only complaint is that its hard drive is sometimes too slow. Boot time ranges from 20 secs to 3 minutes.

I'm just about to return my _second_ Alienware 13 R2. The keyboard didn't work on the first one. This second one lasted two weeks before randomly refusing to power up. Just dead one morning. If it weren't a gift for my son who loves the idea of an Alienware, I'd just ask for my money back and go with a different brand and model. As it is, this is the last Alienware I'll ever purchase. It's a shame too, because I grew up eyeing Alienware, but it appears their build quality has dropped significantly since the Dell acquisition. My advice: don't buy Alienware. If you do, make sure you have a good warranty and return policy (Thank god for Amazon).

The absolute worst! I purchased an Alienware 13 R3 from Dell recently. It was purchased specifically for gaming while on the road for work. The computer itself has always been significantly slower than I originally anticipated. Slow enough to not run any game effectively without "dumbing" the graphics to the absolute lowest setting. I found out later that my computer had only 4GB of RAM. Keep in mind that this particular build included an option for either 8 or 16GB. How my computer only ended up with 4GB is a mystery to this day. I contacted Dells support team for assistance on this and of course we were a few months passed the warranty period. Of course they passed me on to the "outside warranty" department who gave me some options with the lowest being around $300 with no specifications in regards to what exactly they would do with the computer. From what I could tell, it was just a payment for extended Dell support. Not worth it to me considering I could easily purchase a new laptop for $500 from Best Buy which would clearly out perform this garbage. I also noticed a significant degradation in performance shortly after the warranty expired. I have a 15 year old desktop that I built that works better. To make a long story short, if you are thinking of purchasing a computer from these crooks, please reconsider. I unquestionably regret my decision to work with them. Especially after their lack of support. Save your money and shop elsewhere. You will not be disappointed.

Although I didn't buy this on Amazon, I bought it from someone on Ebay for 500$ because the backlight had gone out (whoopty do?) but I thought I'd give it a proper review on here. The thing I love about this computer is that it's solidly built, but not clunky like I was expecting. The lighting on the keyboard is fantastic, I love the fact that I can change the colors with Alien FX. The keyboard is great, the keys are bigger than the ones on my Mac. They are easy to press, they have a silky feel to them and where your palms rest feels silky too allowing great mobility. Although I don't use the trackpad really, it works really well. As good as any computers and better than my Macbook. It has two finger scrolling just like a Mac does although not quiet as efficient. As for graphics and gaming, the visuals are STUNNING. WAY better than even my MAC. I can run most games on High quality or Ultra including Planetside 2 and Fallout: New Vegas & The Witcher 3. The sound is also another thing I want to touch on, this thing has AMAZING sound for a laptop. It has surround sound and a variety of controls so you can customize your sound to fit yourself. It also has Scouting mode which is where you can hear your opponents from further off. The only thing I don't like about this computer is the fact that if your graphics card goes out, you have to buy a 300$ empty box then a 600$ graphics card to put in the box to make it work correctly. I think that this is ludicrous and just another way to get people to waste money on products they don't need. Anyways despite that I'll give it a 5 star review because it is a wonderful computer that rivals a Macbook Pro Air. For Windows, this is a HUGE leap and at 500$? Heck yeah. I'd drop it again anytime for such an amazing computer.
