I was stumbling and grumbling trying to get the ancient Wemo plug we use exclusively for the Christmas tree each year. Nothing was working. In frustration, I walked away and ordered this plug. Yes, I had to experience the awkwardness of manually turning on my tree for two days (ugh) but it was WORTH IT! Three easy steps that even my mother could handle. Plug in and confirm blinking. Ask Alexa to discover devices. When she confirms, she’ll ask you for a name. Done. Now I can control with my voice again and all is well. Had to replace my old 2.4G plugs when I got a new router. These installed so easily by just telling Alexa to discover my new devices...and she did...and they worked. They were easily renamed to make it easy to control with voice commands. Work great!

Worked great on 5g for two weeks then stopped working and Alexa can't discover the device now. Tried holding button for 5 seconds to reset but without success. Tried holding it for 12 seconds without success either.

I have been using this for a few weeks now. It's extremely easy to set up and very reliable. I use it through the Amazon Alexa app and have it preset to turn the lamp I have plugged into it on and off at a certain time each day. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Originally I bought it because of economy, but had a concern about it pairing with an established Dot/smart plug. These arrived and the clear, succinct instructions allowed fast and easy set up and naming and we were connected. These smart plugs work like a charm. Some of the bad reviews for this item are most likely from people just needing a little more patience in getting them all setup. First off, the Alexa Echo is NOT required as the description for this item incorrectly states. However, even if you had a (2nd Gen) or newer Echo, the Alexa app IS required to configure these smart plugs. After configuration is complete, voice control is enabled from either the Alexa app or any Echo Show (2nd Gen) or newer, including the Echo DOT and others. This app is easily downloadable from your App Store. To correctly set up these plugs one at a time, they must first be plugged into a power source, then be activated and discovered on your Amazon Alexa app as a new device. These plugs will show up with a default name of first plug, second plug, and so on. You can rename these plugs and even assign them to their own group.
