  • Mostly good
Had mine for 5 years before I lost them at an airport. The good: excellent noise cancellation, fairly comfortable, good sound. The bad: The volume buttons on my headset never worked, so it was a minor pain to take the phone out to adjust volume. Also, the point of attachment of one of the earpieces to the headband broke and I had to glue it in there several times. I never abused these headphones, so I'm not sure why they broke so easily. Finally, I would have liked a decent case with it (like Bose offers), instead of the soft "bag" that they include ... show more

  • Love the headphones... with one BIG caveat
The AKG N60 headphones sound great. The noise-canceling feature doesn't impede the audio quality. They are especially effective at suppressing lower frequency noise, as you would find on an airplane. In an office, they effectively mute HVAC, fan and other rumbling noises. Be aware, this is a CORDED headphone only - there is no Bluetooth in this model. I specifically needed a non-RF headphone for work. The cord is a good quality no-snag Nylon-type cord. Very smooth, thin and light. AKG is known for high-quality audio products (studio microphones, especially). These fall a little short in one critical design aspect. The N60 would easily gain a 5-star review if it weren’t for the abysmal, horrible, ridiculous (should I continue?) charging system: 1. It uses an 18-inch USB-A to 4-pole round mini-plug cable for charging. Do you need a replacement cable? Are you looking for a longer charging cable? Nope. They no longer sell even the short charging cable. So if you need a replacement, build your own or try EBay. 2. The charging port is also the audio input, so you can't charge and listen at the same time. Batteries aren't removable, so you can't buy a spare set and charge them externally. 3. One end of the cable is a USB-A male plug without the shroud (the contacts are exposed.) The USB plugs into the included wall-wart. It can be inserted backwards and it is loose. Because the cable is so short, it's easy to bump or tug it and loosen it enough for it to stop charging. My experience is that I check the charging light when I first plug it in, but don't realize if I dislodge it when it's charging on my desk. 4. Why not use a USB-A to Micro-USB just for charging, separate from the standard mini-plug for the audio. Audio connection on one ear and charging connection on the other, maybe? 5. Provide reasonable length cables. The audio cable is a standard 3’ and can be easily extended (mini-plug extenders are common), but an 18” charging cable. If you’re charging from a standard wall outlet, the headphones have to lay on the floor. I still use these almost daily. They were reasonably priced and sound great, so I'll put up with their idiosyncrasies at work ... show more

  • Great value headphone with a clean and clear sound
Normally I refrain from writing reviews, most experiences have been shared and I normally feel I do not have much to add. For this headphone I have doubted a long time whether or not I should purchase it in favour of, for example, the Bose NC line. I love audio, I have a ear for detail in music and I enjoy music more when I hear such details. Knowing the reputation of AKG, I knew that the sound, produced by the headphone, would be clear and clean, but I read several reviews of the NC-function allegedly producing some sort of static sound. This held me back in purchasing this headphone at first, after all, I would like to listen to my music as clear as I can for a decent price. So looking at the price and the majority of reviews being positive I decided to buy this headphone because the alternative headphones where more expensive and I am not to excited by the sound Bose produces with its products. After having used this headphone in several moderate to loud noisy environments, I can definitely say that the NC is doing a very good job and to me enhances my music experience in a positive way. The static noise I mentioned before is not audible to me for I haven't been anywhere where it is so quiet you can hear a pin drop. Which also raises the question if one should be using a NC headphone in environments where there is barely any noise. Secondly an argument that held me back in buying this headphone is the argument that the sound would be 'flat'. Often the author of the review would state that they ment that there was a lack of bass produced by the headphones. Listening to the AKG now I can not understand why one would actually experience a 'flat' sound with these headphones unless that person would have impaired hearing. This headphone gives a very natural sound, well balanced, as I said before, you can hear a lot of details, precisely as the artist intended it to sound. I am very happy with this headphone and I would strongly recommend it if you are in the market for a NC headphone. ... show more

  • Bass is pretty weak- but anyone purchasing these should know the headphones ...
I bought these headphones a few weeks ago. Since they got delivered, they barely leave my side. Overall, mid and high range are superb. Bass is pretty weak- but anyone purchasing these should know the headphones are best for rock, acoustic, vocals, classical music, Netflix or movie going. not optimal for Rap, electronic... Overall craftsmanship is great. Sturdy and great material. Only worry is thag hinges may loosen up after heavy use. Stitching over ear pieces and headband is well done. Wire is long and light. It is made well. These are also very comfortable. I own Sol Republics and these are a lot more comfortable. I can use these for hours and my ears do not hurt. The noise cancelling feature is incredible. At half volume on an iPhone, I generally won't be able to hear people sitting next to me have a conversation, or even notice they are. I'm very impressed by this. My only complaints are the carrying case (too small) and an occasional slight buzz emanating from the left earpiece. I think it may be feedback when streaming Amazon Prime Video or HBO. Also, the headphones do slip off your head if you are mobile or moving around a lot. Overall- great purchase and would suggest to anyone looking for a quality pair of travel headphones, or just a great pair of headphones. I'm very pleased. ... show more
