  • Very Useful Information For Some
I love photography, even if my skills aren't the best. I shoot for fun now and then, but mainly shoot several times a year at events for nonprofits, high school sports, or band groups. As such, I typically review my skills before shooting an event for others. Like any other skill, photography is a perishable skill if you do not shoot all the time. It’s nice to be able to go to one source to review before going out to shoot. Plus, you can always bring the important cards with you, just in case you get brain lock or come across a situation that challenges your skills to get good shots. The cards made of PVC are waterproof and feel fairly robust. If you snap them in two, you have to put a good amount of effort into it. The cards are double-sided and broken into six different categories, which are color-coded. All the color and writing are clean and crisp. If you are learning about photography, then all of these cards will be useful to you. If you know some basic stuff, then you can pull out the cards that you would not need while out shooting. All of the cards have information that is not necessarily camera-specific. I feel like there is a good selection of information available on the cards. The cards have a small hole in the corner that fits on a Binder Ring, and then that attaches to a D-Ring. You can always change out this setup to whatever you like to use. If you are a day-to-day photographer or an amateur who shoots a lot, then you probably won’t need these cards, but I think they would be a good gift for someone you know who is learning. If you are just starting to learn or only shoot occasionally, then some or all of these can be of use to you. The price is so good for all you are getting that it would be a good purchase either for you or a friend. ... show more

  • Nice basic photo guide cards, handy and durable, but definitely entry-level
These photo guide cards are a nice little reference to have on hand, especially if you’re just getting into photography. They’re durable and easy to carry, and I like being able to quickly flip through them instead of pulling out my phone mid-shoot. The layout is simple and straightforward, which makes them easy to understand at a glance. The material is coated for durability, and the size is perfect for clipping to your camera bag. A good thing about guides like this is they compatible with pretty much any camera. That said, they are definitely on the basic side. The information covers fundamentals well, but if you already have some experience, you might find yourself wishing there were more advanced techniques, settings examples, or deeper explanations included. What I liked: Handy quick-reference format Durable and travel-friendly Clear, easy-to-understand basics What to know: Very beginner-focused, limited advanced content More of a refresher than an in-depth learning tool Would I recommend it? Yes, it is a great value for beginners or as a quick cheat sheet in your camera bag. If you’re more experienced, it’s still useful, but you may outgrow it pretty quickly. ... show more

  • Quick reference for great photos!
I opened this pack and put it in my camera case right away - what a great handy set to have! I have been taking photos as a hobby for a decade, but I take mostly photos of wildlife. When it is time to switch to portraits or landscapes, I often find myself embarrassingly trying to explain why it doesn't look like I know what I'm doing! Every different type of photography means that you need to make adjustments and changes, and it is easy to forget how to make those changes to achieve the desired result. Searching online will get you the answer, but having some cards or a "cheat sheet" is much easier and faster. These cards are robust and feel very waterproof - nice when you are in the field. They are all on a clip making them easy to transport where you need them. Even though I no longer have a DSLR (I went mirrorless) these cards still pertain to what I am doing, so they are compatible across types. The material they are made of is nice. This is a great value for the money and something every photographer could use, especially if they aren't a pro! ... show more

  • Have cards (and camera), will travel
So I'm an amateur photographer. I've taken photos at club performances and various events. I often forget the best settings until I'm in the moment and having to quickly adjust. Sometimes that's unavoidable, like when the fog machine kicks in. Also, depending on whether or not they're using a spotlight. This set of cards now resides in my camera backpack. Before a gig, I will review the settings and be better prepared when I get there. This set of cards not only tells what settings are best for various scenes but also for the effect you are trying to achieve. They're not just reference but also education. ... show more
