  • Good value coop
Pattern Name: Chicken Coop
Arrived undamaged and assembled easily with 2 people. The wood is not high quality and the paint was thin and spotty. I caulked up all seams and roof screws and repainted with oil based exterior paint to protect the wood and give a barn appearance. I also built a pressure treated 2x4 base for it to sit on and keep it off the ground. Added a rooster weather vane for looks. ... show more

  • Quick to Assemble!
Update: I wanted to add an update. We have been using these coops almost a year now. They are holding up, ok for what they are. Two big bummers about them though, the hardware is t the best. The tiny screws to attach the hinges for the nesting box hatch are a joke. They stripped out after about 3 months. A small bolt would be better. Number 2 is that poop gets stuck between the mesh and the board that supports the little lading part of the ramp…..:can’t get it out. Otherwise it’s been a good starter coop and learned using a fine shaving in the tray with a kitty litter scoop really makes cleaning it super easy. Fluffy shavings get jammed up in the tray and it’s hard to remove. We have had up to 6 chickens in these but unless they are bantams I would say that’s the most due to sleeping space. If we can make them last through another winter though, we will likely build something bigger. I want to start off with the fact I’m always skeptical of prefabricated coops like this. They seem cheap and like they won’t last long. However, this one after we assembled it seem quite sturdy. It was super easy to put together, I have the instructions a 4 out of 5 because they were the best worded I’ve had for anything you put together yourself. But the diagrams could have been a little more detailed. We have 6 chickens presently with plans to get 3-4 more. We bought 2 because even though this says you can have 7-8 per coop, it would be a bit crammed. However, if you have plenty of space for them to roam during the day and this is solely for sleeping or nesting then it works. As you can see in the photos we added a temporary run, our chickens are only 10wks old. The reason we opted to buy a kit is that 1: it worked out costing less than building our own, 2: we don’t really have the time or cooperation of the weather to build one at this time and we needed them pronto! The 2 main things I would change if I could would be the inside roof to be maybe 6” taller. We are having a little dilemma about putting in a heat lamp without risk of burning them. The second would be wider doors on top and bottom. The tray on top will help with cleaning the top half, but, underneath you can’t fit a full sized pitch fork, you have to use a smaller one. The only thing I would say was wrong with it when we got it was there was a little damage to one of the pieces from shipping. As shown in the photo. However they are packed quite well. We simply flipped that piece over and used it anyhow. ... show more

  • Cheap, but good for a short time.
There was no reviews on this so I was really curious because I liked the set-up. I live in Michigan and am not sure this coop would be suitable for our cold winters. It’s very thin chincy cheap Chinese wood. I do think it will work to get my chickens through the winter and some of the spring, but we will have to get into something bigger and better quality. I will have 3 silkies in this. I would cap it at 5 chickens. It all went together really easily. I just wish it was better quality. It did take about an hour with my dads help. My only modifications were buying the latches, buying a hook to pull the second ramp up and close it at least so it’s not wide open at night, added a hook from ceiling for heat lamp and added a new hook latch for the piece that removes when cleaning instead of using the one included. It does come with 4 door latches but it’s supposed to latch into a pre-drilled hole so doesn’t seem too safe. I bought 4 for each door so the bolt was going to another piece of metal and not wood. Like I said, not suitable for Michigan unless it was insulated because there are quite a few gaps and room for cold air to seep in. My biggest annoyance is that the second ladder into the coop isn’t a perfect match so that in winter you could lift that second ramp and latch it shut to close off the coop and let less air in. But it doesn’t fit. You could mod that and make it shorter or buy another sort of latch to pull it up and keep it closed as much as it will. Still has a gap. It shipped fast and did come in two boxes on different days. ***Updated review one week after having chickens in this and adding a second picture.*** After a week of watching my roo and two hens in there, I needed to buy this run to attach so they had more places to roam. This is for only until spring and then maybe it will be a maternity ward within my larger yard. I bought everything already. I just HAD to get my chickens during winter so this is set up in my polebarn until we have no snow and warmer weather. I have two satin silkie hens and a frizzle silkie rooster in here. Before this, I wouldn’t buy this for big chickens. Smaller breeds will find it more comfortable. The run together easy like the coop did. The top that opens, the latch provided is cheap plastic of all things. I bought a different latch to modify that. Any tuff animal could break through it. Also, the fence along the inside, the staples I found to be spread apart too much so I took my staple gun around the entire internal part to ensure they were pinned down more. I will be buying 3 new locks for the outside as well. They don’t latch into anything, just keep the door shut. It’s a spring latch. I’ll be buying the ones that slide into another piece of actual metal. I would not trust this against predators. • Chickens love it!!
Pattern Name: Chicken Coop
I purchased this to temporarily house my first 5 chicken and it houses them perfectly. It is very simple and easy to put together it took two people probably about 2 hours to put together. It is very sturdy once put together. The wire is good value. It does take two people to pick it up and move it. The doors are easy to use and the locks are spring loaded which is nice. It is suck a cute little chicken home and it is made out of pretty good materials and I love that it has actul roofing material. I will be using this for our baby chicks once we get our run put together. ... show more

  • Save your money & time
Pattern Name: Chicken coop AIR97
The media could not be loaded. This product is very poorly made with cheap materials. I would not purchase again. Assembly very easy but wood is soft and cheap causing screws to strip very easy. Nesting box screws already popped out. Junk. I’ll be lucky if it last through the winter.
